William Regal has gotten what he wanted, tonight from Sheffield, England, he will face ECW Champion Christian. Regal passed on the match last week in order to have it take place in his home country, where exactly one year ago, he won the Intercontinental Championship in Manchester.

FAIR FIGHT?
Tonight on ECW, Christian will defend his ECW Title against William Regal in The British Brawler's homeland. With Regal's cronies, Ezekiel Jackson and Vladimir Kozlov, banned from ringside, will the contest be an equitable one?

Wow. I remembered that Regal beat Santino for the IC title and Manchester, and that it was roughly a year ago, but I didn't know it was exactly a year ago. That's eerie.

I really wish Regal won the strap, and I don't get why he didn't. Christian's already beaten Tommy Dreamer, William Regal, Zack Ryder and Yoshi Tatsu. Who else does he have to face? Shelton Benjamin (who is also a face)? And for that matter, without the title, where does Regal go from here? I think this was Regal's third shot at the title, so I bet this really is the end.

Despite the outcome, it was a really good match that got loads of time, which was great. I already thought Regal was going to win, but after Regal kicked out of the Killswitch the first time, I really thought he was going to win. I thought the Regal knee trembler was a great spot too, the way he missed it the first time but then like did it a hokey, backwards way and fell on Christian for the nearfall.

Did they mess with the audio? I find that really annoying if they did. While "REGAL!" chants were audible from time to time, it felt like other times something about the audio was messed with. Like when Regal was in the ring after his intro, you could see fans standing up and cheering and you could see Regal mouthing "thank you" but all you could hear was his deafening music. And when Christian came out, you could see large portions of the crowd sitting down and either looking disinterested or mildly clapping, despite the audio reaction. During the match, it was most noticable whenever they did "YAY!" "BOO!" spots because the yays were solidly for Regal and the boos were entirely behind Christian.

The Regal-Christian match really made this ECW, though I like these fantasy Zack Ryder segments. He's already so goofy that these just make him even more over-the-top goofy. I'm sure Shelton vs Ryder on Superstars will be good, but I bet the ending just revolves around a distraction again.

The Abraham Washington Show was good at first. I actually was mildly entertained at how ridiculous Abraham was, but then they did Yoshi comedy. I gotta admit, I'm not a fan of Yoshi comedy at all. Mostly because it's not funny the first time and then they do the same joke like 20 times in the span of two minutes. They've already done it with Christian a few times. It wasn't funny then. It's not funny now.

Burchill vs Goldust was good to set up for Burchill vs Hurricane. I actually thought that match was taking place tonight. I wonder if Burchill vs Hurricane will be the main event next week?

Yeah...well, this is something the WWE has been doing bit mroe than usual lately.

When Regal first came out, the cheering sounded very weird, but what's even weirder is the "Yay! Boo!" chants", bcecause they still cheered for Christian anyways.

Anyways, the match was good, but I think Christian should be going to Raw or Smackdown, because at the way ECW is right now, with all the new wrestlers, I really want a bit of fresh air, so I really want somebody else to have the championship.

Christian vs Regal was very well done with good pace and good movies but I do agree with the person who said I thought Regal was going to win.

Burchill vs Goldust was okI guess just gearing up for next weeks match.

The Yoshi and Ryder meets Rosa things were fails in my mind.

Rating: 6.5/10

Chrisitan vs Regal was a good match. I was a bit disappointed in Regal losing because now who's going to face Christian for the title? He's beaten half the roster and the other half haven't proven themeselves yet. (like Tyler Reks, The Hurricane and so on)

Burchilll vs Goldust was ok, and I could have sworn they said Hurricane vs Paul Burchill was tonight.

Vance Archer vs a jobber I found kinda entertaining.

Zack Ryder's segment with Rosa was good, but I didn't find it as funny as last weeks segment. I just hope Ryder wins on superstars with Benjamin because they were giving him a push and now him losing I wouldn't really like, but knowing wwe Ryder will lose again by another distraction.

Abraham Washington's show I thought was better this week and I enjoyed it.

Van Archer is kind of cool, hopefully he does not talk too much and tries his hand at a "silent but violent" approach in the ring, I feel it would work best for him. As for the main event of the night, Christian and Regal had a great match and the more and more matches like this take place on ECW the more and more it strenghtens the ECW Championship, I was so glad to see Christian retain the title in the end and he has done a great job as being champion and making his opponents look fantastic in the ring. True champion!

You would think this would've been the time for William Regal to win the title. It wasn't. Now, it will fall upon Ezekiel Jackson and/or Vlad Kozlov to be the next challenger, but they are still associated with Regal.

That leaves Vance Archer, who was just called up a week ago. He's starting with simple rent-a-jobber squashes before facing Goldust, Dreamer, Shelton, et al. Archer's just the sort of big man Vince loves, and like Christian came over from TNA, so if Christian drops the title to Archer, it is again Vince's way of rubbing it in TNA's collective face.

The only other option would be Paul Burchill, who has a mask vs. career match delayed 'til next week vs. Hurricane. Why they put it off for a week, I don't know. I for the life of me can't figure out why Burchill wasn't put in with his old mentor Regal and his group. It would've raised Burchill's profile, IMPO, and brought him back full circle to when he was first called up 4 1/2 years ago on Smackdown.

That said, it sucked that Burchill ended up losing to Goldust, who's been doing his share of JTTS duty of late, same as Burchill. All that tells me is that Greg Helms may be ready to hang up the mask & cape once and for all. If that isn't the case next week, the only thing I see is some sort of screwy finish where neither man is affected by the stips.

The less said about the Abraham Washington Show, the better. I only have one solution to this farce. I've had this idea bouncing in my head for a while, so here goes:

Abe is under the impression that he's being asked to host Raw, and in a rare case where a bait & switch is absolutely necessary, they promote Abe as the host for a night, say, before the end of '09.

The show starts with Abe coming out to his music, intro'd of course by Atlas. Justin Roberts interrupts before Abe can get into his schtick, and reveals that Abe is not the guest host after all, but instead it's the one guy whose act he's parodied the whole time.

ARSENIO HALL!!!!
Smell the ratings, baby! :D :D :D :D

It would also lead to Abe getting his ticket back to FCW, and....!

The title match was yet another match of the year candidate. The fans were split down the center, as there were alternating "Let's go Regal!" & "Let's go Christian!" chants during the match. It's a pity Regal lost again, as now they've wasted months of storyline possibilites with Regal as champ.

"I thought it was funny. Tony thought it was funny. And that's all that matters."

I'm proud to continue to be the only one here who now constantly finds the humor in The Abraham Washington Show. They were the same old Yoshi jokes, but Abe and Tony make these segments for me.

I was surprised when I went to check the preview and saw the Burchill-Hurricane match has been moved. I had even worn my Hurricane shirt that day. I suppose they didn't want to have the match in England. Hurricane was ready to go though—helping Goldust to a victory over his opponent next week.

As I said last week, I do not like fantasy segments, but I am enjoying Ryder-Rose overall. I don't expect his match will go well tonight if Rosa is there.

I like what we are seeing from Vance Archer thus far and look forward to seeing what he can do against someone that at least occasionally wins matches.

I had fully expect Tuesday to be Regal's night. Regardless, I really liked the match and was really impressed with the amount of time it was given. These two are opposite sides at Survivor Series so perhaps this isn't over just yet.
