Man, did anyone notice they had a short version of the Simpsons intro? I even missed the chalkboard gag, can someone tell me what it was?

I also like how Homer wasn't TOO stupid and they didn't have some "wacky" decoy plot.

I don't think there was a chalkboard gag tonight :(

Another lousy episode (wow, Grandpa gets a girlfriend? We've only seen this half a dozen times) unfortunately. It certainly had its moments, but overall not too good :(

I thought this one was funny. You all DO realize that people are ALLOWED to have similar experiences in life, right? I loved the XFL thing. And they made fun of BRANSON! I've been waiting for that for years! Plus, this episode settled the old people driving thing.

"Old Man Yells At Cloud"

LOL.

"The mustache wax Hitler DOESN'T use"

Bronson, Missouri, and the "Branson" song were hilarious.

The "gambling" thing was a nice touch.

Come on...who expected Grandpa to call Zelda a hoochie?

I loved this episode. I thought it was absolutely hilarious. I mean where Grandpa yells "I hate this house" from outside the house, then runs in and locks himself in a room and plays swing music? That was great. And the townful of Bronsons. Hilarious. Old Man yells at cloud? Golden.

Was it the most original plot? I mean Grandpa's had eps about his relationships before, but Zelda (that was her name right?) was totally different from Bea or Marge's mom. And they've never really had an ep with Homer and his dad switching places. That's what it was about in my mind, Grandpa's girlfriend was secondary.

Like the Guard said, you're allowed to have similar experiences. Shoot, I think it's way more difficult to do a cool take on an old hat.

EDIT: Yes! Successfully added a poll. :D

Senior citizens are comedy gold, especially when they act like teenagers. And this was an entire episode where the plot stayed the same from start to finish! Not counting the very brief XFL bit at the beginning.

This one actually had some good moments. I was on my seat when it said Grandpa had died; I actually thought they were going to kill off the lovable old buzzard! Fortunately it was a clerical error.
Yes, Grandpa's been in love before, but who says an old man can't be happy? "These are the comatose...these are the cool comatose...." Of course, superficial little girls grow up to be superficial old women, and her head is quickly turned by another dashing old man with his own car.
We learn that Branson is a thousand miles from Springfield, which means it's within the Missouri area. So the radius is definitely smaller.
Homer learns that life is cyclical--his father once changed his diapers and dealt with his adolescent tantrums, and now he's got to deal with Abe's senile tantrums and change...his... :Sideshow Bob shudder:
The stage show in Bronson with failed B-list stars was a highlight, esp. Charro and the parody of her "cootchie-cootchie!" catchphrase. "But you're dead!...Here--I clipped your obituary!" [some old movie star rots to dust]
Glad to see that Marge's gambling problem is addressed. There really is no such thing as an EX-gambler, I guess. Plus it was really weird to hear her use the phrase "stone-cold hootchie"....
Though the "Dude, Where's My Virginity" gag was a clunker...then again, so was the movie it borrowed from, so....
The ep title is taken from Hemingway's novel The Old Man and the Sea, as was the title of another ep, "The Old Man and the C Student".
"Uh-oh. I broke my beard!" [cracks it back into place]
