View Full Version : Who's smarter?

It has been argued that the Justice League has a flying advantage over the Injustice Gang, but that the Injustice Gang can outmuscle the Justice League. So, the final winner will be decided by... brains!

So my question is, who's smarter? Batman-Hawkgirl-Green Lantern, or Lex Luthor-Joker-Ultra-Humanite? And how will the smarter of these two groups outsmart the other?

Luthor, Joker, and the Ultra-Humanite.

Yes, Batman is the World's Greatest Detective. And Hawkgirl is a detective. But she's not the calmest, most reasoning person. And GL is good at STRATEGY, but he doesn't seem too smart.

Hmmmm, great choices for the brains side (tho I would have replaced Hawkgirl with Superman or J'onn). I agree this might not be a matchup of who is stronger, but that combined with some expert leadership and strategy. It is also not simply a match of who is smarter, but how those smarts are allocated and infused with the rest of the team.

On the Injustice Gang side:
Luthor has proven to be the most crafty of plan-creators. Whenver he makes a plan, its usually fool-proof. The only reasons they fail are because they're usually against Superman and because he usually hires idiots and morons. This time, however, not only is his plan going to be benefited by the Injustice Gang, but he's going to be in the fray himself!
Joker is just plain good at everything. Chemicals, technology, psychology, fighting, physics of a whoopie-cusion, etc. You can be sure that a plan helped by the Joker will have a twist even Batman wouldn't expect. Chock Joker up as the wild card.
Ultra-Humanite will be a powerful ally. Not only does he have a great knowledge of science and phsyics, which will undoubtedly help with the planning process, but he/she has the experience of war, leading Nazi regiments during World War II, and thus this battlefield.

However, for the most part here I can see the Injustice Gang creating a top-notch, fool proof plan; but failing in the execution. The Justice League side is completely opposite, failing on the plan-making (namely just because chances are it will be an ambush), but definately up to the task on execution.

On the Justice League side:
Batman is everything. A fighting expert to examine how the Injustice Gang fights and find weaknesses, and a great observer to make sure that the Injustice Gang doesn't have anymore tricks up their sleeves.
GL has to be an expert tactician, handling many troops working on different targets. Alongside Batman, he should be able to strategize against the Gang, choosing plans of attack and counterattacks.

Together these two alone could handle any military offensive, even one as diverse and insane as the Injustice Gang.

Well, the trouble is that only Batman really operates on that level, mentally. Whereas the Injustice Gang has several geniuses who, while individually inferior to Batman, together cover their weaknesses.

And, in all honesty, nobody on the Justice League comes close to Batman, in terms of brains and the knowhow to use them. MM has the potential, and everybody has decent wits, but Batman has the intellect of a person who, ultimately, relies on that intellect as his most powerful weapon and best defense.

This is ridiculous that Batman Hawkgirl and GL are even NEAR winning. No WAY.

I like the three of them a lot, and I like Luthor and the gang too. But Luthor and Ultra Humanite are much more intelligent than the others. Easily. The fact that this is even a question with some people boggles my mind. Anyone who votes Batman and gang are "Wishful thinkers" at best and are not prepared to comes to terms with reality; that Batman is not the end-all be-all of comic book intelligence.

Luthor and gang ALL THE WAY.

Batman is very good at detective work, but the others in the first group aren't particularly smart. Luthor is very good at planning things and being deceptive, Ultra-Humanite is a genius in the scientist-sense, and Joker excels at confusing Batman. Sometimes it seems like the only reason why Joker fails is because he's trying too hard to have fun, doing things like throwing Batman into a shark tank instead of just shooting him, for example. In short, Joker is a criminal mastermind. So I have to vote for the second team.

I dont like the League side. It should Be Batman, MM, and Maybe GL.

However on the Show, MM does'nt seem as Smart as he is in the Books.

So i guess in this case the villains have more brains on one side, but lets face it, that's ultimatly why the Injustice gang will lose. Not enough muscle. And it will only take one brain from the JL (Batman) to figure something out, then the JL muscle squad will do the rest.

Why? Because the Injusice gang has no balance.

I guess this is how things are shaping up so far...

League:
Brains - Batman*, Superman, J'onn, GL
Tactical- GL*, Batman
Muscle- Superman*, Diana, J'onn, Hawkgirl
Air- Superman, GL, Diana, J'onn, Hawkgirl
Distance- Superman, GL
Specials- Superman, Flash, GL, J'onn*
Specials: Heat vision, Speed, Lantern abilities, Invisibility, phasing, telekinesis
People with dumb reason for being there: GL, Hawkgirl (political correctness)

Gang:
Brains- Luthor*, UltraHumanite, Joker
Tactical- Luthor
Muscle- Luthor, Grundy*
Air- Luthor, Sapphire,
Distance- Luthor, Sapphire,
Specials- Copperhead, Sapphire, Shade
Specials: Poison, Lantern abilities, Invisibility, Paralysis (Shade's darkness thingy), 'Phasing' (Copperhead's ability to snake thru things)
People with dumb reason for being there: Copperhead (James Tucker likes him) :D

(I don't know much on Cheetah, so I had no idea where to place her)
*Best on the field (could be tied)

I'd say both teams are fairly balanced, tho the League does have its advangatges, and Luthor does too much on the Gang side. Considering this show is not just Batman's 'focus' episode but also Luthor's, it'll be interesting to really see how these two match up. And I still say that the Brains side wins for the League. For one, Batman is the end-all of comic book wisdom... in the JL show at least. :p Not only that, but while total IQ might be higher on the Gang's side, wisdom, creativity, and plain out wit will be on the League's.

Tho, its also kinda wierd to see the good guys with the brute force while the villains have the IQ and most special powers...

I hope Injustice For All doesn't boil down to a bunch of "melees". I'd like to see some plot, if I wanted to see action I'd fight my brother or watch DBZ or something.

We'll definately see "some plot". Its supposed to be a Batman focus episode, but, really, it'll be Luthor's story. Big changes are coming in his life, and we'll get to see his fall from grace, grow publicly corrupted, and purely vengeful. The fall alone, whatever it is or will cause it, will definately be another big plot point to watch. Its also been said that because its a focus on Luthor, we won't get origins of the other baddies, so the story won't bog down for that (tho it would be nice to see the JL recognizing most of the villains). And the Batman part will definately come into play trying to solve all the Injustice Gang's tricks, so both the tricks and solutions will contribute to the plot.

And DBZ hasn't had a fight with so many real 'special' skills as both the JLA and Injustice Gang! Whatever happens, it ought to be a doozy to watch

Hey! The melee battles are what I'm looking forward to the most in "Injustice For All"! :D I want and expect the episode arc to have a cool plot too, but the melee battles will be the crem de la crem, so to speak! :D

I can't wait until we get to see a 7-on-8, no holds barred, throwdown between the JL and IG. :D

Hey Borg4of3, Im confused about something you listed. You Put Luthor down for -Muscle, Air and Distance, are you implying that he can hire goons and fly his piloted jet plane long distances?

Or is he wearing some sort of Battle suit?

Yuppers! Luthor's still the same old evil genius we know and love, but this time, either because of insane rage or something, he'll be armed to the tooth. Here's an excerpt from Toonzone's own bio on JL Luthor (http://www.toonzone.net/shows/justiceleague/luthor/luthor.htm) .

Bruce Timm: What we’ve done with Luthor is kind of fun. Again, going back to James’ concept of being true to the wild DC Comics roots—you either love it or you don’t…we kind of love it. So, we thought that we’ve done enough stories with Luthor being the corporate tycoon—that was fine in the nineties, but we’ve done it (and then we did it again with Batman Beyond’s Eric Powers). It’s like: okay, we need a new take on Luthor. So, he’s kind of the old mad scientist/supervillain Luthor and, in fact, he’s wearing the Super Powers-era suit, slightly modified. And there’s a story for why he has to wear the power suit. And we actually have his other look—his old, classic purple and green outfit. And there’s even a part in the story where he’s in prison and will be wearing the old [Curt Swan-era] prison garb. He’s played again by Clancy Brown.
