I got the book with the second story on Free Comic Book Day (It's the flip side to The Matrix book) and I just got to reading it.I noticed no one posted anything about it so I figured maybe someone else who has read other issues of Stray Bullets could share their comments as well.
I think it's a good read although I wouldn't recommend it for kids since there is strong language and violent images (especially towards children). This book is drawn in black and white so if you prefer comics in color, don't read here. Personally I like The Matrix story a little more.
The description inside says that the story here hooked a lot of readers (it definitely hooks you into reading the story without stopping). Also, each book has a self-contained story so you won't risk being confused by missing an issue. It describes itself as a "crime comic" with different ranges ("domestic noir" and science fiction). I'm not sure if I would get another issue though.

I got a couple of issues when it first started about 6 or 7 years ago. It's got really nice storytelling--the panel layouts are dense, but Lapham tells his stories with great detail as if they were films.
The writing itself ranges from really good to so-so. The dialogue is always crisp, but some of the situations can lack intrigue and pull, depending on the issue.
His art has improved quite a bit. When it first started out, he was pretty sloppy and sketchy, but now he's getting into a truly slick piece of film noir art style.
I recommend a try. It probably won't blow your mind, but it's not a disappointment, either.

I read it, and I think it's a terrific series. I missed it a lot when Lapham took a year-long break to do Murder Me Dead. Anyway, I do recommend that you pick up the earlier issues since there are plenty of recurring characters who you're expected to know by this point. All of the earlier story arcs are available in TPBs, and you can probably pick up more recent issues if you want to catch up.
And yeah, this is not for kids, especially the current story arc.
