I was just watching this on DVD this morning, and I must say that its a favorite Christmas special of mine. I remember seeing this back in the 1980's and early 1990's. Unfortunately I don't think anyone's aired this special since that time, especially considering how comical the special is. Plus I'm surprised that the CBC and CTV don't air it here in Canada considering that it is one of the few one-off Christmas specials that was actually produced here in Canada.

If you ever get the chance to see it, especially for those that live in the US or other parts of the world, you might not get the parody of the space police ship or even the dress of the space police as being a parody of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and their international image of riding on horseback.

The special, which was produced in 1985 also features Paul Anka singing all the songs (aside from the only Christmas song in the special, We Three Kings, which is sung by the voice actors of George, Ralph and June).

Well, it is Canadian after all, and some of us probably would get it either way.

This special was released in the US on VHS in the 80's from Paramount Home Video.

And now for something completely different, the original concept of the special as it was used in a NFB film that the director, Gerald Potterton animated in the 60's as a section of "Christmas Cracker" (http://www.nfb.ca/film/christmas_cracker/).
