This is a unused character design I did a while back. I wanted to breakout the Wacom and attempt digital painting again. Still working on this (it is mostly just the flat colors and a little rendering of the flesh tones), but I wanted to see what input I got on the direction that I'm going so far. Comments & crits are welcomed. Thanks for looking.

Are you working in layers? Because you shouldn't be getting the edge artifacts around the characters, unless you're doing a fill selection directly on the lineart layer.
As for the colors themselves, it's looking pretty good so far. A touch more contrast might be needed, but I like the way you're trying to make the jacket shine as if it's made of vinyl.

Thanks for looking, Bic. I was using layers for the flat colors, and then going over the flats with my rendering. I was using photoshop and making use of the various brush tools, but I was not satisfied with the results that I was getting.
I got some better digital painting tips on another message board, and started over. In half the time I took on the other piece, I actually was able to finish the piece, with better results, in my opinion. I'm still trying to get the hang of the digital painting, but I think I am at least now on the right track.

Nice painting skills, FuriousNick.
Wish I could do that in Photoshop.
