Important Board Thread

Actually, that title is false. If this is the onlyway I can get you guys to read the rules, then so be it. I've had to send out wanrings to more posters that I wanted to today and yesterday. It's getting tiring that I have to keep warning and giving chances becuase they "didn't read the rules". Well - no more. As of know, if you haven't read the rules, then it's your responsibility to read them. No more hiding behind that defense. You break the rules, you will be banned.

I don't know about you, but this is embarrassing to me and insulting to you. Embarrassing to me becuase after alll the hard work that is put into this site, people still try to dog it by insulting and breaking the rules. Insulting to you becuase the vast majority of you are smart, intelligent folks and shouldn't have to hear this. You know not to post deep personnel stuff. This is a public forum, not a place to air your dirty laundry. But since I continueously have to warn folks about the rules, it's obvious that some of you folks are not listening, which just boggles my mind.

I respect everyone here. I respect your opinions, your thoughts, and your comments. I love all that stuff, which you can obviously tell as I post a wild streak about everyday. But when someone breaks the rules willingly, that's when I lose respect for the person. I've stated probably close to one hundred times to always follow the rules. Respect the rules and the rules will respect you. It's as simple as that.

Break the rules, and they'll come back and bite you in the arse. I don't take very kindly to people who willingly break the rules for their own pleasure and upset people. I don't think anyone likes those kind of people and I hate thinking that there are posters on these boards like that. I try and treat everyone fairly here, and no one gets special treatment. Whether you be newbie or vet, there's no leeway when the rules are broken. Heck, even we moderators gotta keep in line becuase we are posters just like you. If you prick us, do we not bleed?

Anyways, I'm just telling you this now, becuase it seems like good timing. We've had a stelar first month. I've only had to give warnings to 4 people (one of whom which was banned) and that's not too shabby. I just think that everyone should review the rules (http://www.toonzone.net/worldsfinest/worldsfinestpage/boardrules.htm) and make sure they know the ins and outs. But the rules are just common knowledge, in my opinion. I ahte banning people and sending off warnings, but I will do it, as will my fellow mods, if we have to. Simple as that.

I hope I haven't bored you to death. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming. I would like to see replies to this thread so I know people are reading it.

This is severely disappointing Dick, I thought that a head moderator such as yourself would have more respect for the Message Board Code. I don't think it's fair to the other members that you post false news. There are many people who are extrememly saddened by this. In the future, I hope that such events don't occur again.

Excuse me? I postred that false title to draw attenton to this post. I know if I posted a title that read 'Rules' or whatever, it would be avoided like the plague. This is how I run the boards, and if you don't like how I run things, then that's too bad. I hate to come off as rude, but I''m doing this for the posters. By posting that heading, I'm exposing them to the rules so they know what they are so they don't get banned. And next time you question my judgement, email it to me instead of posting it, and embarrassing me, in front of my fellow patrons. These are my boards (well, mine and my fellow mods), and I don't expect to be treated like a kid here. I expect everyone to act like adults. And it seems like not everyone can.

come on, grayson's got a point. the only way to attract attention to this subject is to put it under a false title. hey, it worked on me :) give the guy a break! this is one of the few message boards i'm on and it is by far the best. the moderators and members alike here are helpful and informative and the threads are really intresting. better than the yahoo boards i'm on, anyway. keep up the good work, WF crew...

lol your post gave me a good laugh. It's a joke right? Obviously it's not but it's hilarious anyway. I don't call this "breaking rules", I call this "being a good and conscientious mod"... and "many people are extremely saddened by this"??? Oh please, nobody seems to give a damn about that "false title" thing.

Geez we have the greatest mods here and I just can't help getting pissed off when they are insulted so briskly.

I genuinely cannot beleive Xavier's response to what I feel is a reasonable post with a well made point. These boards are superb, and the moderators do a great job - I've been on boards before that were like class-rooms with no teachers. I've been insulted, derided, attacked - but not here. These moderators do a great job of keeping everybody in line - and long may it continue. May I suggest Xavier takes the time to have a look around and actually make a note of what good a job DG does before embarrassing himself with such ludicrous posts. How long has this guy been here - about two minutes..? Not a good start, my friend...

Had to throw my hat in here, because I've had some of the troublemakers e-mailing me to "complain" about DG's running of the board.

If there's a technical question you need to ask me, or you're looking for a good conversation, please feel free to e-mail me. But please do not e-mail me to complain if you are banned or warned.

Message Boards are around because people/webmasters wanted to have an environment where they could control the conversation. At least to the degree of providing a safe, comfortable place to converse. How many of us have been blasted on the newsgroups? Or had to wade through all the porn spam posts and other assorted ads on the NGs to get to the actual content? Or even worse, gone to other message boards that have been completely ravaged by troublemakers?

Rules are set as guidelines to help create that type of environment. If you cannot abide by the rules of the community, then Toon Zone is the wrong place for you to hang out.

You have an excellent crew here that keeps right on top of things. Show them some respect.

I just want it to be know that I fully support any decision DG makes in running these boards and his site. His decision is the last word and I will not make any attempts to sway him in any other direction.

Ahhh, now the story becomes clearer - I thought that Xavier appeared unduely hostile. Thanks again Caloun07, and my compliments on your good conduct in what appears to have been a somewhat distasteful episode. Let's hope we see no more of this childish behaviour...

You read the post on the AniGen board? Pretty messed up what people will do, eh Frozen? For all the big talk that PK was dishing out, when he/she/it was banned, she/he/it was beggin' to get back on. PK was mostly all talk and was shocked by finally getting caught for breaking the rules. Hopefully what happened will serve as a reminder to anyone like PK that we mods here (all of the great TZ mods all 10 or 12 of us) that we mean business.

Hey, David Henderson, Peace Keeper, Xavier, or whatever name you are going by this week, you better stop harassing my friends via email and IMs. You got found out, deal with it! I know you can still see posts on this board, or at least find out about them, so this is to you.

For the rest of you, "Peace Keeper" admitted to using two names on these boards. Last night, it IMed me and this is part of what transpired:

IMO, PK and Xavier were one and the same, but it was friends with JustWhelemed and managed to steal her password to get on as her to suddenly make it look like JustWhelemed was on PKs side. But , hey PK< when you write under these different names, come up with new typos and common phrases to use. Man, you write EXACTLY the same as PK and Xavier, and when you get on as JustWhelmed. And you're STILL contacting people on this board. GIVE IT UP!

He likely emailed it to everyone using the email option on these boards. Unless you willingly give out your email, there should be no way to see it on these boards. Then again, he likely looked at the page source in your profiles to see the email address, and then emailed them out after he emailed it to me. Also, If he emailed one email a minute to everyone on the boards, it would've taken an estimated 6 hours and 40 minutes. How can someone have [b]THAT[/]b much free time?

Though I've never said one bad word to/about P.K. I considered PM'ing him/her and saying I'm sorry about the banishment, maybe even extend a little olive branch...but if this person is as schizo as you guys say I'm glad I didn't bother.
I've thought P.K. was a dame since he/she/it took me gently to task on saying a particular phrase was slang for having relations...that seemed like a feminine thing to say, really...ah well.
6 hrs., 40 min.? I've been on-line for between 3 and 6 hours at a time myself...but I'm a writer, so I do a lot of research in that time. Often I look up things that'd be useless to other people...like what year glasses were invented, who invented a particular computer virus, or how many popes dropped dead of suspicious causes while in office....

Hmmm. It hit calhoun (starts with a C) and it hit me (starts with an M), but missed you (starts with a D). It wasn't alphabetical (or thorough about it), or aimed only at high-profile posters, so it seems to have been selective. Did it only hit people who spoke out in defense of DG? Then why send those people that kind of screed?
