What do you think of season 3 of Teen Titans and more specificly the main arc of that season which was Cyborg vs Brotherblood storyline. Was that season doomed to be a letdown? Could they have done anything to change that.
After doing the epic Judas Contract animated adaption, what ever followed was going to be a letdown. I think they purposely made Brotherblood the anti Slade, to give the series a change of pace.
Though I think the writers were disappointed in that arc, it had the least number of episodes. And the next season, though in a supporting role to Trigon, they bought back Slade.
I think they should have started the season with an episode that deals with the aftermath of Aftershock that was such an epic finale, the city was nearly destroyed, they lost Terra, and Slade was apprently dead. Lot of stuff that could have explored, before they moved onto the next story. Though they did deal with some of those things in later episodes Haunted and Things Change, but I still would like to have seen their first post AS mission, I doubt very much that investigating the H.I.V.E. was their first mission, I especially doubt that giving that Beast Boy is back to his comic relief personality in Deception.
Season 3 is hugely underrated just like Cyborg is out of the 5 team mates. IMO This season is superior to S4, I didn't like Season 4 that much nor its story arc.
First of all Season 3 includes some of the best "One off" episodes with X, Haunted, Bunny Raven, and Can I keep him.
Now to go on to the story arc, the story arc only gets 4 episodes, two of them being the finale. So in only two episodes to set up the big season villain. Now Slade got 6 episodes in season 1 to set himself up. And Season 2 only has 5 however we already knew who Slade was in that season. Slade had two seasons worth of development and now we get a new villain. Not only that but this was also Cyborgs season and we know he is the last liked Titan, that didn't help things. Brother Blood is indeed the total opposite of Slade too. Personally I don't think he was handled as good as he could have but was still handled good. The first episode introduces him pretty well, the second episode shows how he is a total bad ass at fighting. And for the finale he basically becomes Cyborg. To compare with the later seasons, Trigon also got 5 episodes and the Brotherhood of Evil basically got the whole season to themselves. Season 5 isn't liked that much either and I'm guessing the lack of Slade is a factor. Season 4 is only liked so much because it deals with probably the most popular character, Raven. Not to mention Slade is in it and him being there is pretty pointless, it served him no purpose to be there, and even still he ended up being more interesting than Trigon...
The fact that Brother Blood didn't get another episode not even a one shot cemented the fact of him being useless. And not to mention the Deus ex Machina ending in the finale. I actually have mixed feelings about it, I guess it makes sense for the type of show that Teen Titans is but still... Season 3 also had Titans East, who were hilarious and awesome. oh well.

Can I keep him and Bunny Raven are two of my favs of the whole series. I didnt have a problem with the main arc, and probably enjoyed the resolution more than some others on these boards, but I do think the other season arcs were stronger.

I liked that they made Brother Blood the anti Slade, I think they needed a break from Slade. I agree with you guys.
But what about my idea of season 3 premere being about the immediate aftermatch of Aftershock?, I thought that could have been a good episode. I could imagine Beast Boy becoming a blood thirsty lunetic who takes out his frustation on criminals and the other Titans specificly Robin scolds him for that, and than quits the Titans, and Beast Boys acusing Robin of just thinking about catching criminals, and is about Beast Boy getting over what has happened, and the Titans coming together again. I thought of all of the finals, what happened in the season 2 finale is the hardest to do just move on from, though season 4 finale comes in a close second.
Than after than we move on to Brother Blood. Other seasons after all didn't start with the main arc. I thought them acting like the dramtic events of Aftershock never happened was a little cheap.

I agree. A Titan goes insane and attempts to murder at least five people, Slade takes over a major American city, and nobody reacts to any of it? The civilians leave, then just go back to their lives like nothing happened? That was one thing that Teen Titans dropped the ball with: Dealing with collateral damage and the aftermath of their battles.
Civilians were rarely endangered, very little reference is ever made to all of the damage caused, and the villains are frequently just ignored after the fight ends. Probably the most idiotic example of this was in Spellbound, when Kardiak was left laying in the middle of a playground and no one bothered to get rid of it. Come on.
But I'm getting off-topic. I thought that the Brother Blood arc was pretty lackluster, overall. Blood himself was annoying, Cyborg was even worse, and the moral of the story was just an uneccesarily extended version of Only Human. But we got Titans East out of it, so that makes up for the rest.
We also got Haunted, which was one of my favorite episodes in the show. Very dark and grim. And the ending was handled almost perfectly. The Titans reassure Robin that everything is under control, then reveal that someone had to activate the dust from outside the Tower. Then the close-up of the mask with the glowing eye. It might not have made complete sense, but it was still awesome.
X, The Beast Within, and Spellbound were highlights, as well.
