I picked up both volume 3 and volume 4 this morning from Best Buy, man I got to say how much I love the cover of volume 4, it makes me want to bust out some old Claremont Wolverine/Sabertooth stories and read them in a marathon-like fasion. Anyhow, I have not gotten around to watching these disc's yet but I am sure I will on my next day off, I have not seem some of these episodes for years and it's about time I recapture the memories with these timeless classics! Some of my favorite memories of this series was when they were in premiers on the old Fox Kid's Saturday morning block, I never missed a new episode and I even remember Fox airing Pheonix Saga in primetime once or twice, man those were the days.

I remember when the X-Men movie came out back in 2000, ABC Family aired some of the X-Men: The Animated Series episodes in order and I taped them and watched them once or twice and have not seem then since that summer, this will be a treat and a great peice to add to my volumes 1&2. :D

I'm about 3/4 of the way through Volume 3, and I'm looking forward to getting onto Volume 4. And looking at the back of Volume 4 I see that there are 5 episodes that I've seen over the course of the past year on the old Universal and Legend of Wolverine releases.

Other than those...its been a decade since I last remember seeing Beyond Good And Evil, Have Yourself A Morlock Little Christmas (a play on the song Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas), Love IN Vain, Secret, Not Long Buried, Xavier Remembers & Family Ties.

And even though none of these episodes have any commentaries or bonus features, I'm still having a blast rewatching one of my childhood favorite cartoon series.

I give it a 3 for being just a bare bones release.

I definitely disliked the 4th season of X-Men the most. Apart from Sanctuary, Proteus, Love In Vain and the Christmas episode, no other episodes appealed to me because of their complete lack of Rogue. The Beyond Good And Evil 4 parter was the biggest offender though.

Cyclops: "Rogue, since you are our strongest team member, you just stay here at the mansion and do absolutely nothing throughout this entire saga where we take on all of our deadliest enemies."

And then when Cable left in the time traveling ship without letting ALL the X-Men come with him (yes even Rogue) to help fight Apocalypse and Mr. Sinister, I nearly wrote a letter to the makers of that saga to complain at how much they destroyed what could have been the most awesome saga of the entire series. Such a pathetic way to end the Apocalypse story line and defeat him. They should have had one more final fight where EVERYONE was involved. Not just Magneto, Mystique and Wolverine.

When is X-Men Volume Five going to be released on DVD by Disney? I hope Disney will put special features in the fifth and final volume of X-Men. How are the sales doing for X-Men Volumes 3 and 4 on DVD and are they selling very well?

According to Amazon.ca Volume 3 is #1 in "DVD-Kids & Family-Television", #1 "DVD-Television Central-TV Series-Kids & Family", #1 "DVD-Television Central-Kids & Family", #1 "DVD-Kids & Family-Characters & Series-Disney".

Volume 4: #2 "DVD-Television Series-Kids & Family"
#2 "DVD-Television Central-Kids & Family"
#2 "DVD-Kids & Family-Characters & Series-Disney"

On Amazon.com it looks like, under the Disney category, instead of being #1 & 2, both volumes are #3 & 4 (behind the single DVD of "Up" and the 4-disc Blu-Ray of "Up"). As for the other categories on Amazon.com the DVD's are occupying the 1st through 3rd spots.

That is very exciting that X-Men Volumes 3 and 4 are selling very well at Amazon.com and I am looking forward of Disney releasing the final volume of X-Men: The Animated Series Volume Five on DVD this year to complete the series! Buy the DVD's of X-Men Volumes 1, 2, 3, and 4 at Amazon.com for Disney to release X-Men Volume 5 on DVD to complete the series.

I'm starting to wonder if I even saw Secret, Not Long Buried or even Xavier Remembers & Family Ties since I just finished this DVD yesterday and the last few episodes I had no recollections of having ever seen them before. Maybe up here in Eastern Ontario the stations only played up to the Christmas show and then repeated everything for some strange reason.

Anyway I can hardly wait for Disney to release Volume 5 so that I can finish seeing this show.

Oh, and I was looking closer at the copyright wording on the back of the 4 recent Disney releases of this series and the old Legend of Wolverine release and I noticed 2 things: 1. with LOW it appears that back in 2003 Disney, while they had both the American and Canadian rights, had the Canadian releases printed and released up here in Canada seperately with the copyright saying that they were only licensed for sale or rental in Canada, plus there was a Canadian flag on the packaging.

2. On LOW the copyright has the "C" in the circle, indicating copyright, "2003 Marvel Characters" and "C"-circle "BVHS Entertainment". On all 4 volume releases Marvel is the only credited copyright holder indicating the series status as being restored to Marvel's holdings, whereas the 2003 disc had so that people would understand that the characters were owned by Marvel, but the video and film elements were owned by Buena Vista (Disney).

Top 20 for both releases! Looks like the series is keeping its pacing for DVD releases after hitting the Top 20 back in April.

Very nice, I am glad to hear it. I hope it will be enough to secure the release of Volume 5 soon (and hopefully they won't wait for another X-Men related film to tie it's release in with).

I don't know if this has to do with the promotion of the releases but I've been coming home from work lately and catching X-Men episodes on tv in the afternoon. Feels like I haven't seen X-Men on in the daytime since back when I was still in school.

I have been seeing this series through Netflix, and I have been enjoying it a lot.

I'm glad to hear that the fifth, and final, volume to this series is expected to be released later this year or early next year.

What does early next year for X-Men Volume 5 DVD release mean?

What does early next year for X-Men Volume 5 DVD release mean?

Could mean that we could be waiting till June/July before we see it. Or the ultimate thing could be that we wait until X-Men Origins: Mageneto and X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2 are released in 2011.

I just hope they actually DO release volume 5.

I mean, so far, I can't recall a single animated series that Disney has released in its entirety, and most of them get canceled one volume short of a complete release. The track record just isn't that great...

Well I don't know where other Disney animated releases, such as TaleSpin and Darkwing Duck hit on the Top 100 DVD release charts, but considering that X-Men Volumes 1, 2, 3 and 4 all hit in the Top 20 during their debut weeks with the odd number volumes selling the most copies, the corporate heads at Disney would need their heads examined if they didn't see that X-Men on DVD is a fast-money-maker for Disney.
