View Full Version : The POSITIVE Johnny Test Thread

You know, some of the topics in the Nicktoons forum gave me this idea, especially since I see a lot of hate for this show on here, and really, it isn't that bad.

In all honesty, I feel if it came out in the checkerboard era or in the 90's at all, people would like it. It just kind of has that 90's feel.

Yeah I pretty much enjoy this show too. It's disappointing how everyone else is hating the show. There's nothing to hate about Johnny Test. I also think this should be also a thread for when the new episodes start this year.

It's a guilty pleasure of mine, I will admit. I just only hate the fact that CN airs this into the ground. I know that kids like watching this, but my personal feelings are that this show is good in small doses.

I admit, I hated, hated, HATED Johnny Test when I first saw it on Kids' WB. I thought a lot of the same things about the show that many people say about it now: it was lame, it was stupid, it was just a gender-swapped ripoff of Dexter's Laboratory, blah blah blee blah.

Then after 3 seasons on Kids' WB!, I saw a promo announcing that JT was coming to Cartoon Network. My inital thought was "Why??". They kicked it off with a marathon (I believe) and because there was nothing else on, I caught a few episodes just to goof on it. But to my surprise, I started to find myself mildly amused by the show.

No, Johnny Test isn't a thinking man's anything, but it's an OK show in small doses. There are some clever gags and nice touches here and there: the role reversal of Johnny's parents is a clever idea, and I do like the characters of Susan and Mary, and Dukey, who's one of my favorite characters on the show. Johnny himself irritates me sometimes, but I'm growing (a little) more tolerable of him.

I loved this show when it aired on Kids WB. It is a nice show. Unfortunately I just haven't watched it much on CN. But once the newer episodes air i'll probably watch it again.

It's not a terrible show, it's just very uninspired and overplayed.

I put it in the same boat as the Total Drama series and 6teen. It's not something I'd go out of my way to watch, but its an okay time-killer when nothing else is on.

I'm not a fan yet I will admit it's a guilty pleasure when there is nothing else to watch on tv. I remember the show re running it's first six episodes for over a year on kidswb which I thought was a bit crazy. I'm surprised it got so far as three seasons.

Johnny Test is one of those shows that I can take in small doses but too much of it (like 3 episodes in a row) can be very repetitive, I do however like the show and wouldn't mind seeing the new season on CN if it ever materializes. I feel suddenly drawn to shows like this that I was not a super-fan of before CN began airing live action programming, now I would beg to see more JT throughout the day than live action crap :)

It's not bad. It's not ridiculously hilarious, or dramatic, but it's good just to past time. The clumsy Flash animation can be a pain to look at, though.

The problem I have with the show is it's just bland and doesn't seem to ever really try to stand out. Maybe it's because Chris "I killed Dexter's Labratory" Savino worked on the show or maybe it's a Canadian thing, but it's just so tame and never excels. It's just average, but for whatever reason, that works for it if it lasted as long as it has.

Yeah, the flash animation in seasons 2 and 3 was definitely a step back from season 1, when Johnny Test was an American/Canadian co-production, but on the up side, Lila (the mom) got more screen time in seasons 2 and 3.

If you're looking for deep, intricate or dramatic plots, look elsewhere. Johnny Test doesn't pretend nor claim to be anything other than what it is; a goofy kids' cartoon. But any series that gave us the Test Twins (Susan and Mary) can't be all bad.

Susan and Mary are cuties. There, I said it.

You'll get no argument from me. I agree with that, especially Mary. I always thought Mary was a cutie-pie.

If you ask me, Mary is cutier (and better) than Susan. While Mary has more of a mellow/surfer type of attitude while retaining her intelligence(and that she cares about Johnny and Dukey more than Susan), Susan is pretty much like Dexter (mean, selfish, and absurd).

Ending that, I also think Mary should have more development instead of just being the sort of opposite of Susan that gets small screen time.

I always thought Johnny Test was a good cartoon but it just gets to much air time. I like the references they make from the road runner to the ghostbusters but (don't remember the episode names).

Also, the best episode I have seen is Johnny Dukey Doo, I just never get tired of that episode.

I like the twin sisters too. Not that it'll ever happen, but they deserve their own spin-off show.

I agree with your views on Mary. However, I don't dislike Susan. I see the Test twins as opposite sides of the same coin; Mary is the "yin" sister, while Susan is the "yang" sister.

In any case, The Test Twins are the main thing that attracted me to the show in the first place.

A POSITIVE JOHNNY TEST THREAD!!! Whats the world coming to! LOL.

Meh, Its an OK show for rainy days, & there are a few good eps, & even though I Loved Dexters lab back in the day, this show just isn't my cup of tea...But i give it brownie points for trying.

A positive Johnny Test thread? Whooaa, didn't see that comin'. :ack:
I seriously dislike Johnny Test with a passion, but I'll try my best.
*takes a deep breath*

Season 1 of the show was actually OK compared to seasons 2-3. It was traditionally animated and the jokes weren't that bad.
Despite the show's horrible, cliche, unoriginal plot, character and jokes, I watch it for guilty pleasure. And if you didn't know, there's already "unknown" footage of the show's 4th season on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Usyjz7jXe6c), which was posted by the show's new animators, who animated this season in the Phillipines. I have to admit, this season's animation look alot better now.

I AGREE. Season 4 looks like its has better animation then the previous 2. I may actually watch it. (Mabye)

But again, Still not that big on test. I personally think the show is a decent concept, its just executed in a somewhat genaric way. I mean I realize its aimed at the Elementary School Demo. But i wish they would put a little bit of witty humor ever now & then.

To be honest, I don't see why people hate on this show. I rarely watch TV anymore, so if I ever turn it on and Johnny's on, well why not watch? It's a decent show.

I find “decent” is way to much calling this show. Is more like “Meh”.

I do have some problems with this show, and still do.

-The jokes are to flat and to safe.
-The show yells to much.
-There's never really a slow down moment.
-The plot is way to random.
-The “Didn't see that coming” got old real quick.

Though, even with all those problems I have (And more). I say a right time where I forgive the show a bit is on 10:30 a.m.

I don't know why. The show doesn't seem that annoying at that time.

'Yeah I enjoy Johnny Test much more then Ed Edd and Eddy.

Uh.

When is CN going to air Season 4 episodes? If it's been such a hit.. Where are the new ones? Are they waiting for Chowder to end or something?

I think it's a good series, but CN just airs it way too much, so it gets boring and I start to not want to watch it.

I've actually seen this show quite a bit. I rather like it. It's a fun show, good to watch if nothing else is on. There's nothing too spectacular about it, but I still rather enjoy it.

This is one my favorite non Cartoon Network shows and I'm really excited to know that the people that animated the 1st season are back. The only disappointment is that it's still flash.

Has anyone in Canada seen it yet?

I'm just worried that USA will not be getting the new season anytime soon because they are not bringing in anymore new cartoons(That's what I heard).

You heard wrong: CN will be gaining plenty of new cartoons: Adventure Time, Regular Show, Horrorbots, Pink Panther & Pals, Scooby-Doo Mystery, Inc., Hero: 108 and Ben 10: Evolutions, to name only a few.

As for the new season of Johnny Test, I'm sure CN will be getting it (Test is currently one of CN's top-rated shows, so I don't see them not acquiring it), but I don't know when.

Yeah I'm gonna put my faith in Cartoon Network for now. At least they have some brains left. Why would anyone show a few episodes of a cartoon and then not air the rest? You have to be completely silly to do something like that..

*ahem!*

:^: Hmm...that's not really the best example. Hi Hi PuffyAmi was one of Cartoon Network's lowest rated shows. Johnny Test, by contrast, routinely puts butts in seats, no matter how many people complain about the constant reruns.

Yeah, a new animation company took over for the 4th season.
I don't know the company's name, but they're located overseas in the Philipinnes.
