Figured this deserves its own thread.
Anyway, in an unsurprising move, "The Goode Family" has been canceled.

Ah well, saw it coming.
I think we all know better than to expect animated programming to work on ABC.

Well, it was a good show to see (Though it was hard to catch). There was one character that did sound like K'nuckles. He seemed to be my favorite.

Poor Mike Judge he just cant get a break lately first Fox wont even air the final episodes of King of the Hill now this. No wonder he's looking towards live action.

Shame. I only caught it a few times, but I seemed to like it more than King of the Hill. With KoTH, it took me a long time before I warmed up to it, but I only saw a couple of episodes of The Goode Family before warming up to it immediately. Even the animation seemed a bit more lively than KoTH.
But then again, that's what happens when you go to a station that's not even involved with animation to begin with to make a cartoon. Does anyone even know what the heck happened to Slacker Cats?

I thought that was a bit much too, even though I'm a vegetarian myself. Not the same as being a vegan, but you get my point, yes?
Anyway, it was probably just poking a little fun at the going green thing. Then again, I wouldn't expect a show with that theme to get very far.

Yeah, whatever that might be.

If that's what he chooses to do later on, then I wish him luck.
Dammit, Fox, show the guy some respect.
I'm thinking that if they released the thirteen TGF episodes on DVD as a complete series set, I might still get it. I'd especially welcome a complete set of King of the Hill though.

Slacker Cats got additional 6 episodes, but none of them aired. Instead they were posted on ABC Family's website

The goode Family to me wasn't much of a show to begin with. It just looked like King Of the hill all over again expect with hippies. If Judge is planning on doing anything with animation I hope its good as beavis and butthead. But to me this is like Judge is getting treated like Don Bluth for some reason.

I'm not surprised, I mean the channel and time kind of made the show slip by unnoticed. i knew of the show and only caught two episodes because i kept forgetting when it came on.

You know, cable is looking a LOT better these days.
Broadcast TV is seriously getting on my nerves. So many new shows I have enjoyed are cut short for more anemic "reality" show garbage. Even though I'm glad they aired the whole season, ABC still never aired a single commercial for The Goode Family ever since it moved to Fridays. Same as Fox with their mistreatment of Sit Down, Shut Up.
So, of course the show will get lower ratings because people still didn't know it was on! However, they made sure to put money in advertising Dating in the Dark, a stupid "reality show" with a premise so dumb, you'd think it's a parody.
(sighs) Well, I definitely enjoyed the show, and while it may be canceled from ABC, maybe another network could pick it up. Due to execs' dumb decisions, however, I won't hold my breath.

King of the Hill was and is one of my favorite shows. The Goode Family I just couldn't get into. Just wasn't that "goode" to me. :P

Well, I don't want to get your hopes up, but on The Goode Family's facebook page the creators indicate that they plan on relaunching the show on another network. But, I'd take what they say as a grain of salt. They also made a post about the show increasing in ratings last week, which is a bit ridiculous. I mean, the show's ratings went to horendous, to slightly less horrendous. Not really something to brag about. I mean, it gets lower ratings than both Surviving Suburbia and RERUNS of According to Jim.

I could see Fox picking it up. And the reason it got such crappy ratings because ABC basically pretended the show didn't exist except when airing it and constantly moving it.

Yeah, but from the ratings it looks like people turned on the TV on Friday to watch Surviving Suburbia, turned it off when the Goode Family came on, turned it back on when According to Jim came on, then turned it back off when the second episode of The Goode Family came on. That's pretty bad even for a show with no advertising. Granted, the entire Friday lineup did pretty bad, but to lose viewers regardless of the lead in can't really be dismissed.

NO, not Fox! Besides, along with killing Sit Down, Shut Up, even they are screwing over Mike Judge by not airing the final King of the Hill episode!
Plus, Fox canceled too many good shows, so that's not a good idea. Maybe Adult Swim or Comedy Central.

I liked This Just In. .
Freak Show was horrid, it really upset me to know David Cross (who I normally love) could create such an atrocity. It makes me feel better to think it was the other people involved with it that made it crappy.

It's a shame what network television has become, especially with Animation. Personally, I only saw the premiere episode of the Goode Family and thought it had potential.
There has been a trend of cancelled animated shows making a comeback, starting with Family Guy and later Futurama, both which were brought back to life thanks to their ratings on Adult Swim and DVD sales.
Personally, I think ABC is not the best place to have animated sitcoms to begin with. Anyone remember when ABC premiered the Critic? It originally aired on ABC and was cancelled all to quickly and found its way on Fox shortly after.
Here's hoping that the Goode Family finds their way on Comedy Central and NOT Fox.

Meh. Seems expected.
I think they played the "Hippie" angle far too much for their own worth. In King of the Hill, while the characters were at the other spectrum, the show had a sense of moderation that made them more nuanced and not caricatures. Here, we mostly have that while not having much of a universe or similar neighborhood and disposition to build off of.

All I had to do was see that in the little lower-third promos they ran during "Wipeout", and I knew this show wasn't for me. That "vegan = good, carnivore = bad" joke managed to be hammered into the ground AND distract me from what I was watching. When you see a show that makes "King of the Hill" look subtle in its attempts at satire, you know it's not long for this world.

Possibly finding a new angle for the Goode Family if there's any indication of pitching the series to another network, if he isn't already developing another series. I haven't seen enough of the Goode Family to give my opinion on the show, but if the show was lackluster from the get-go, it was destined to fail.

If there is anything I've learned when it comes to canceled sitcoms, it's that DVD sales and popularity usually decide whether a show can actually stay canceled.

we'll just have to wait and see what's planned for the Goode Family, if anytning at all.

I doubt anything is planned for the Goode Family. I've heard Mike Judge has gotten sick of animation and wants to focus on live action.

Not to mention Family Guy and Futurama ran longer than the Goode Family. I have yet to see an animated series that only lasted one season, make a return with a new episodes after it was canceled.
Also, Mike Judge didn't even want to work on the Goode Family in the first place.

Didn't that happen with "The Critic" though? The first season aired on ABC and was canceled, but it eventually got a second season pickup from FOX a year later.
Then there's "Home Movies".

The problem is, no one is interested in the Goode Family, and even if they were Mike Judge doesn't really want to continue it that much.

Probably Adult Swim, I don't see it coming to Fox.
I like this little snippet from the bottom of the page:
"Here's hoping the Goodes find a new address on Fox, Adult Swim or any network that hasn't disappeared up its own backside."

My bets are on either Fox or Comedy Central, since they have an edgier dynamic with mature animated shows. Personally, I think that's where the money is at: Mature animated shows, as they're more creatively liberating.
