It would pretty cool if we could get that feature installed though.

Well, there's an upside and a downside. On the one hand, it stops people who don't know how to use Multi-Quote from posting three separate posts in response to three previous posters. On the other hand, if someone revives a thread to add information, but they were the last ones to post in the thread previously, their new post would be merged with the old one and the thread wouldn't get bumped to the top of page 1.

Take the talkbacks for example. Season-long talkbacks are constantly bumped during the show's run. If the talkback leader is the last person to comment on last week's episode, and then bumps the post to announce this week's episode, the posts would be pointlessly merged.

Well, here is my test on Multi Quote, and it seems pretty easy. Oh, and automerge still bumps it.
