The Wii's hardcore hope is available today. Thoughts? Impressions? Odds on whether this will go the way of Mad World and end up a critical darling largely ignored by the Wii user base?

On other boards (not Gamefaqs) I visit people seem to be impressed by how it plays, not so impressed by the story and designs. On Gamefaqs they're talking about how it is being pirated.

Because of bills, I hope to pick the game up next weekend.

It looks pretty good. First big multiplayer FPS for the Wii. Maybe there should be a Toonzone Conduit tournament.

I still want to pick this up.

By the way, has anyone seen the controversial GamePro review where he knocks the controls? Then later issued a comment saying customizable controls are a bad thing? There's a reason GamePro is so looked down upon. :p

Funny part was that the game got a pretty good score, but people are calling him out for his blatantly wrong information. He didn't even mention custom controls in his review! Too funny.

They still publish Gamepro?

For those curious, the GamePro review is here (http://www.gamepro.com/article/reviews/210916/the-conduit/). The IGN review, including sweet-looking video, is here (http://wii.ign.com/articles/996/996847p1.html).

Aside from complaining about controls that can be easily remapped, the GamePro reviewer actually flat-out states that he did not try the multiplayer mode. I would understand if this were a first impressions sort of thing, but for crying out loud, if you haven't had a chance to play one of the game's major selling points, don't freaking review it yet! (I'm also not sure why he goes on about Goldeneye so much. Has he played any FPS in the past 10 years? And to claim that this game only looks as graphically as impressive as Goldeneye is, well, just not true. It may not look like Halo 3, but it's pretty easy on the eyes.)

I wasn't really excited by this game for a while because it does indeed look like a pretty generic FPS, but it sounds like the controls are really good and customizable, so I'm pretty interested now. Once things slow down a bit I think I'm going to get it. I love the idea of being able to map the controls to my dual-trigger Wii pistol peripheral and basically play as if I'm holding an actual gun, and unless I'm missing something, it sounds like that would work. Real gun-butting action would be a beautiful thing, and I couldn't care less about the storyline at that point.

Oh, and I think I should go ahead and make this a Talkback.

Unlike MadWorld and House of the Dead, this title seems to have good marketing. The rated T for teen bit doesn't hurt either. Third parties had already decided the fate of the Wii before it even came out. Really lame industry this is.

I got my pre-ordered copy today from Gamestop and I'm having a blast playing it. I'm 47% through the game so far. :)

I can't do the multiplayer yet as I don't have the means to go online yet, but as soon as I do, I'll be able to see the multiplayer.

I just beat it this morning. and now I'm off to collect the remaining trust data disks and find the hidden messages. But I do have some bad news...

It ends on a cliffhanger just as you are about to face John Adams. I hate it when they do that...

It must be pretty short, I guess.

I don't know of many (if any) FPS games that have a single player mode worth more than 8 hours or so.

Oh, there definitely are some. I'm not the type to hold a game's length in too high regard, though. Some 8-hour games are an awful lot more fun than some 40-hour games. And I'm not paying for time, I'm paying for fun. ...but in any event, multiplayer will always be there.

Yeah, I mostly play FPS for the Online play after beating the story, unless I like the story. After all, that is why I enjoy Halo 3, Gears of Wars 1&2, Call of Duty Series, and other series after I beat the story mode.

I plan to pick this game up next week, when I have the money that is.

5 bucks that Yahtzee is going to riot about that when he reviews the game. Yeah I'm getting sick of developers doing that with FPSs if not games in general myself. Although I wouldn't ban sequels, just cliffhanger endings if it's the first title in a franchise.

It seemed like the levels got better and better as the game went on.
I was wanting a more satisfying ending though. Some cool boss or something.

Does anyone want to play online?

Well I got the game Yesterday and so far I like it from what I've played of it. Sure, I need to fine tune the controls for it since it does feel a little awkward for me to play it, especially if I want to take this online. I won't have a crappy K/D ratio because of controls.

I got the game a while back last week. Its pretty fun. The single player reminds me of Halo without the vehicle parts. So its just moving from corridor to corridor killing everything that's not you.

The game looks a lot better then the screen shots and videos made it look, IMHO.

The online is pretty good to. I've only done the free for all stuff, I should try out the team games, but I'll do that later. But a lot of the game types are pretty fun and nice mix up so to not get bored.

I've heard there are a lot of hackers, but I have yet to see any. I almost wonder if all the people that cry "hackers" are just people that aren't very good at the game. I do have to say, there are a few times when I thought someone might be hacking, but after just focusing on them, I did kill them. So I think its just bad luck, or those "hackers" are just more skilled, or something.

Could be that your opponent was lagging.

Bought this off Amazon for $39.99. Should be arriving soon I hope. I can't wait to start on the online multiplayer. If anyone is interested I'm up for a match online. Just PM me and I'll give you my friend code.

Just rented this a while earlier after so long, and I have to say I'm somewhat liking this competent FPS. The story is somewhat engaging, the technical aspects are good for Wii standards, and I'm having quite a bit of FPS fun that I haven't had in a long time.

Only flaw really is that's not really that distinctive. I wish I could use more of the ASE at the current moment than what I'm doing with it, that there is more weapon variety, and that there were more distinctive locales to play in.

But I'll leave my super special final opinion in due time, but I like this. I like it a lot.
