I gave my first impressions in the Marvel animation thread (much of this review is from my Silver Surfer review). Overall I'm very happy to have the series on shiny DVD, something I thought would never happen.
The packaging is very nice, the O-ring packaging adds a nice touch, it's a shame to a degree that the image of Spidey doesn't look like the animated incarnation. The orange backgroung isn't the best colour, blue/purple would have been more striking. The design has basically been caried over from the Liberation releases with a couple of small changes.
The inclusion of a booklet is nice, something Clear Vision has included in their Silver Surfer release and followed on from the Liberation releases.
The transfer is fine, a small amount of ghosting is visible here and there, nothing like the levels on some of the X-Men releases, as is some anti-aliasing (enevitable on animated releases it seems). Nothing though that would ruin your viewing experience even on the largest of TVs. The menus are pleasing on the eye and are a nice touch.
A point removed for the lack of special features. I only removed half a point from the Silver Surfer release as features were less likely but with Spider-Man I feel more could have been offered. I'm sure some of the writers, animators or producers could have offered contributions of some kind. It's harder for UK/European releases to find funding for such features I suppose.
Overall though, a worthy addition to any Mavel DVD collection. I recommend purchasing it, even if to support further Marvel releases.

That's good info. If Clearvision did a good enough job on this, it may be pointless for anyone to wait to see if Disney releases it.
Do you have any way to know if the episodes are edited?

I'm afraid not, I don't really have anything to compare the episodes with.
They seem the same as when I saw them on TV in the 90s, obviously they may have been cut back then and it's not like I sat glued to every frame, even if I had it was a long time ago. A few episodes were released on VHS here in the UK, these DVDs seem to be the same as the episodes on VHS (The Venom Saga, The Hobgoblin) but again, they could have been cut too.
Having said all that, on a personal level I recommend this release and enjoy it for what it is. For a casual viewer like myself, everything seems fine and I'm more than happy with the result.

Is there any word on the CV Spider-Man sets being unedited?
There's an easy way to check. In the first episode, Night of the Lizard, there are three cuts that I know about. The first is JJJ saying he will give a bonus for photos of the Lizard and Peter asks, "Color or Black & White?". The second is the Lizard's tail striking Spider-Man and sending him flying backwards during the fight in the sewer. The third one is the Lizard's tail striking his wife when she grabs the neogenic recombinator.
Are these scenes present on the CV releases?
One of the reasons I ask is that I currently have a friend vacationing in England and I'd love to send her into an HMV to pick it uo for me.

The U.K. Master tapes DO NOT have the same edits that U.S. Disney versions have. They have edits, but not the same ones as the U.S. Disney versions have. The reason I know is because I have all 65 episodes recorded from Fox Kids Europe on my Hard drive.
So basically the info you just gave him is useless, because those scenes are intact on the U.K. episodes.

I didn't know that there were different edits.
I've been searching for a list of differences from the uncut/originally aired versions and the Disney version, but there seems to be no definitive list. Is there such a thing? Or at least a list of differences between the US and UK versions? Obviously those scenes I mentioned are missing from the Disney version. I also have the Fox Kids UK (I believe) AVIs from [austin316gb] on my hard drive. I think I must also have the first broadcast versions on bootleg DVD, but they are super compressed and hard to watch.
Maybe I need to watch all three versions and create the list myself.

Here is a link that lists some of them (But, I'm sure it's incomplete): http://drg4.wariocompany.com/spdeleted.html

Yeah, I've been there. From what you've told me, those seem to be the Disney edits. And yes it is incomplete.

Got my DVD yesterday. I must say the transfer and quality is OUTSTANDING. It's great to see the un-released dvd eps like Night of the Lizard, Sting of the Scorpion, The Menace of Mysterion, Kraven the Hunter, and Day of the Chameleon is full re-mastered dvd glory!
I really look forward to this entire series being released, hopefully, before the new year. It's been a long time coming. I'm not a big stickler when it comes to dvd extras-although it would have been cool to see an interview or two from John Semper.
EDIT: Another thing i noticed is that the ep 'The Menace of Mysterio'- the opening credits audio is slightly out of synch....
