Interesting stuff I found at this fan site.
The show is heavy on religious references, amoungst other things. The unedited show has the large robots called "mega-deus" (Definitions from Merriam-Webster's dictionary)
mega-
: 1a: great : large b: greatly surpassing others of its kind
deus
: 1: a god introduced by means of a crane in ancient Greek and Roman drama to decide the final outcome 2: a person or thing (as in fiction or drama) that appears or is introduced suddenly and unexpectedly and provides a contrived solution to an apparently insoluble difficulty
While the Cartoon Network edit refers to them as "mega-deuce"
mega-
: 1a: great : large b: greatly surpassing others of its kind
deuce
: 3 [obsolete English deuce bad luck] a: Devil, Dickens -- used chiefly as a mild oath "what the deuce is he up to now" b: something notable of its kind "a deuce of a mess"
Not to be outdone, once inside The Big O we meet another religous reference: "Cast In The Name Of God, Ye Not Guilty" (Note: Cartoon Network has replaced God with Good, as well as, surpressing all other seen/spoken references to God(s) - little politically correct here, huh?). Anyway, the catch phrase, if you will, is a reference to the actions of Jesus in John 8:7
So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
