Superman vs. Sentry

Who'd win:

Superman or Sentry (Robert_Reynolds)?

Sentry seems like a big Superman knock-off than anything, but I think he'd put up a good fight.

I say Superman would win.

I'm not so sure about that... Superman is the logical winner of almost every single "versus" battle you can imagine, but I think Marvel designed Sentry as an insanely overpowered character on purpose - possibly to make him outshine even Superman himself?

Sentry has "the power of a thousand exploding suns" and can seemingly come back from the dead almost instantly [without even knowing that he has died], if you read the first story arc of "Dark Avengers". He also has nearly any power that Superman also possesses.

I'm not saying Sentry is necessarily a better character, just that if a stalemate is unacceptable as a VS result, I think Sentry has a very good chance of being the victor, on account of being un-killable.

Sentry is around Pre-Crisis Superman level. He's just stronger, so he could likely win. The challenge for the Sentry in the fight would be keeping his head together long enough to finish it without having some kind of psychotic episode.

That would probably be the deciding factor. Sentry's mental problems could either help or hinder him. It would work in his favor in that it would make him unpredictable, but if Superman kept a level head, he may be able to exploit that to his favor.

Superman. Why? Because the lameness of the Sentry will be the opening Superman needs to win the fight:p. Not the best reason but I really don't like the character...I mean I despise him and I can't bring myself to even pretend to contemplate that he could take Big Blue. Not even for a versus topic.

The Sentry is on a higher power level than the Superman who beat Darkseid, though. This is not a popularity contest, look at feats and power levels and you'll see that the Sentry outpowers the current Superman by a huge margin. He does have that pesky mental illness weakness, though.

I'm not a comics expert, but I do know that Sentry broke even with Hulk back in that World War Hulk fiasco. Potential aside, in practice it's not all that clear to me that he's beyond Supes in that case.

This is in practice, mind you. I mean, does anyone actually believe that "power of a thousand suns" stuff? Sounds like so much flowery language to me.
