While the news was announced on April 1st on Yahoo Japan.com's website it is very true they are letting Japenese people vote on who they want to star in the film also. I've wanted this to happen for a while and now it's a reality I am so excited too bad there is no plannned release date yet .

Did I mention it is from Yahoo Japan, the page and poll options are still there, and that Gainax is funding it :P And there was alot of Eva news that was annouced on that day like a new Rebuild 2.0 trailer, Girlfriend of steel 2 for Psp, and some new Rebuild of Evangelion games for PS2 and PSP the latter 2 were in Famistu that day. And Evageeks doesn't do April fool news they never have and they said they never will

Well the site just posted the news yesterday and it was put up recetly so no. And beside I don't think this one has anything to do ADV's version

Doesn't matter. America's not gonna get their little hands on this project so that's good.
I hope this film does good and will be on DVD over here in the states.

According to the Evageeks forum, this is just for a photoshoot to advertise the next Renewal movie.
Then again, you all said that DBE was just a movie...
Yea, and it still is. But many ppl took the movie to seriously and look what happen!
I'm just worry LAM Evangelion will be like that! I don't care if its bad, but if ppl over reacts (AGAIN!!!!!), there's no hope!

It's a lose catch-22 for this movie. Either live-action whiny Shinji is the main character, and no American audience likes a whiny mecha hero...
...Or they don't make Shinji whiny and completely miss the point of Eva in the first place.
Oh yes, and fighting "Angels." GOOD LUCK WITH THAT! Even Dogma got horrendous rap and they were the most obvious parody there was (George Carlin as a Cardinal? Come on.)

Seriously, they are now doing this? I thought they put in production hell or were kinda working on it. I could have sworn there were ideas or a concept for this long long ago, and that Peter Jackson was to direct (Hey, something i read in Newtype/internet long ago)...

Ah, thats all i got. Gotta say, thats a pretty bad looking cast, Cuthbert to me would be a really good Ritsuko (i do like me some Ritsuko) to play the role, that or Scarlett Johanson, either one would work...

My list will top when MC Chris comes up with a rap about Evagelion during the insane crazy mindrape parts of the film, or somehow add a song about Shinji Ikari during a depressing "woe is me" scene, that would be gold.
And Danzing/Andrew WK could team up in the song as well, the EPICNESS!!!!
Or i just got ATHF on the brain...:p

Our first live-action Eva news in something like a year!
It still sounds like a crazy idea to me.

Seriously, I thought that this project died with ADV. I'm shocked it survived the transition to the current Neo-ADV (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A.D._Vision#Division_and_rebranding) structure. And, the fact they are still financing it.:eek:

Not too surprising, considering Weta created both the Eva concept artwork and the special effects in Avatar.

I still don't want a live action Evangelion.
But if it actually comes out, it is what it is and odds are that I'll end up seeing it anyway... >_>
I hope it'll be done well. I'd like to be pleasantly surprised.
If Reality is Brown, then Sci-fi Reality is Blue. At least the interior.
As long as we can get Robin Williams as Gendo, I've got some hope for the project.
I also hope we get the same kind of reaction as Dogma got, what with Christian Conservatives up in arms without ever seeing the movie and then after it launches everybody shuts up.

They lost me back when they showed off concept art for the Evas that depicted them with stupid looking human-styled feet with individual toes.
