View Full Version : Reminder: Toonheads & John K.'s "Jetsons" TONIGHT

The Toonheads episode, "Cartoon News Reels", featuring the rare Private Snafu cartoon, "Going Home", is scheduled to repeat tonight at 8:00pm. For all of you who missed it during its one-time airing at 3:00am a few months ago.
Also, during Adult Swim, there is John K. and Spumco's all-new "Jetsons" cartoon. I am not sure what to expect, but I will definitely watch. Also, they are showing repeats of the two Spumco Ranger Smith shorts ("A Day in the Life of Ranger Smith" and "Boo-Boo Runs Wild").
Also, it looks like Rocky & Bullwinkle and The Popeye Show WON'T be seen tonight. :( :(

EDIT: I didn't miss the Snafu cartoon this time, but I do have a question. Was it edited? It was only about 3 minutes, 25 seconds long. I've never seen one before, so...

No Popeye Show? Well, people didn't want it in Adult Swim... They should have moved it back to 1am! Do we really need 5 hours of Hanna-Barbera TV shows or however long it is? No!
It looks like modern studios are trying to imitate older stuff, again.

I don't think it was edited. The Snafu (and Hook) cartoons were usually a lot shorter than the typical WB short.

Thanks for the link, Joe. I couldn't resist taking a peek. I thought the "Father and Son Day" one was very funny!
The other one... well, that one was pretty twisted...

I think they should put it back the way it was a few weeks ago, myself....they showed the HB stuff later and in a better order (with Ruff and Reddy and Top Cat near the end, which worked better for me, personally :) ), and Rocky & Bullwinkle was a few eps. back-to-back on Saturday.
What have they done to Saturday, btw? First they take away Rocky for "Boomeraction," which was, well, sorta lame, IMHO....now what happened to that, to the old Space Ghost eps.? Last night, I saw Toonami...don't tell me they've taken yet another spot in the lineup for even more Toonami! :(
Does anyone else think they need to make Toonami its own network?

Awwwww c'mon BlueAngelGal, let us flame you, let us flame you!! :) :D ;)
Actually we are all MUCH too fine-a-people around here to do that... cough, cough, cough :bosko: :bosko:
And yes of course Toonami and all the other anime should be hived off onto its very own channel... It's not American animation so has nothing in common with the other CN network stuff (sorry Canadian animators).

Blue Angel Gal (I was going to use just your initials, but decided against it:D!)
You are 100% right! TOONAMI (Anime isn't bad - its just NOT cartoons, ok?) and Scooby Doo (the toon equivalent of those fad candies sold at gas station check-out counters) should EACH have their own network. Anything to get rid of the junk and get back to REAL cartoons on CN.
As regards John K's Jetsons, I agree with Jon C. - Father & Son Day was "cute" funny and the second one was disturbingly funny.
THE FLINTSTONES - ON THE ROCKS was more to my liking than the Yogi or Jetsons cartoons.
That being said - God bless John K! He's a genius and I hope we get lots more - I'd love to see his take on The Hillbilly Bears, Snagglepuss, Top Cat or Huckleberry Hound!

Mr. Chuckamuck~
I'll tell you honest and truly what I think would be the best possible thing that John Kricfalusi could ever do animation-wise... Are you ready for this one??? My notion is to let him have a shot at becoming his idol, Bob Clampett!!! How you might ask??? Back in the late Eighties he actually got a VERY brief shot at it with the "New Beany and Cecil Show" and ran instantly into mega-network interference, and walked out. Okay so anyway, how about this scenario... The Clampett family has all those useless "Time For Beany" puppet episodes (and there are hundreds of them and they are USELESS) but they were really and truly overseen by Bob Clampett himself (written by folks like Lloyd Turner and Charlie Shows). Soooooo I propose that Kricfalusi and the Clampett clan go through the soundtracks of these things and pick out the very best ones... And then John K. proceed to direct them however he wants!!! Think we can talk either Mr. K or the Clampetts into such a wild thing??? Annnnnd then finding somebody to foot the bill for full-animation (Clampett-Kricfalusi toons would likely air forever, so the cost would be recouped. Warners are you listening and searching for a cool joint venture???

Agreed. I enjoyed seeing some of the more action-oriented HB stuff over the evening-- like the Herculoids and old Space Ghost.

YES! I love anime and love the fact that it's on the Cartoon Network, but an all-anime (or all anime and action cartoon) network would really be the ideal thing. I hope this happens at some point. Then again, I still can't get Boomerang. :(

I loved the Matrix joke in the second Jetsons cartoon. (Elroy in the liquid)

It was great getting those Yogi Bear cartoons on tape. The first time they had them on, it was an "Old Yogi/New Yogi" special, with the two John K. Yogis, as well as two original H-B Yogis.
Favorite line from "The Jetsons":
HOW MANY TIMES HAVE I TOLD YOU???!!! IF YOU'RE GONNA STEAL, DON'T GET CAUGHT!!!!

Excellent idea, ol' Turtle! I'd love to see it!
BUT -
I can't imagine Kricfalusi being comfortable animating someone else's (even Clampett's) stories. Not enough freedom.
Picture JohnK at his drawing board after weeks of working with the Freberg/Butler voice tracks. He suddenly stands up, eyes popping, veins bulging and has a full-out Ren Hoek rant :
"I can't do it! I can't DO it I tell you! It is driving me MAD MAD MAD!!!!" (throws back his head, laughs maniacally and storms out, shredding drawings along the way).
Besides, you know he'd want to voice Beany himself!:D
