People have recently gotten in a bad habit around here.

They'll make a post, usually replying to a topic.

And then they'll think of something new, that they think should be added to what they said.

Or they'll notice a tipying mistaek.

And instead of going back and editing the original post, to add the thought they meant to add (or correcting the mistake) they'll just add on another post.

Probably this is a habit carried over from AIM sessions, where you can't edit after you've hit "send."

And where people naturally type in short bursts.

But these aren't chat rooms, and habits that are excusable in chat rooms can be really annoying on a board forum.

As even the worst offenders have probably realized by now.

And it's not even necessary to do things this way.

As I just illustrated above and will discuss in more detail now.

If you look at the top of a post, you'll see a little row of boxes, one of which says "edit/delete." Hit this box on one of your own posts, and you can go in and make whatever changes you want. That is why you sometimes see "last edited by" in italics at the bottom of some posts. (Like this one.) Because the authors have gone in and made changes instead of just appending them in subsequent posts.

The "edit" feature is your friend. Learn to use it.

Because the mods are getting awful tired of picking up after you.
