Ash, Brock and Dawn continue their adventures through the land of Sinnoh, meeting some brand new Pokémon, rivals, and challenges along the way!
4
Recently:
Ash also met the Hearthome Gym Leader, Fantine. And she’s really good!
Ash has been trying to figure out how to beat Fantine and her Hypnosis, but Ash seems to fall asleep while trying to come up with a strategy.
Dawn got to compete against one of her mom’s old friends in the Solestic Town contest, and won her third ribbon.
And Team Galactic has finally put their plan into effect. What evil plans do they have up their sleeves?
4
Last Time:
“Losing Its Lustrous!”
It’s the day after the Solestic Town contest. And Team Galactic has finally put their plan into effect. It seems that they are trying to steal the Lustrous and Adamant Orbs. But why? With their leaders, Jupiter, Mars, and the crafty Cyrus (in disguise), Team Galactic is well prepared for this operation. And Ash, Dawn, Brock, and Sinnoh Champion Cynthia find themselves surrounded by Team Galactic. How will they get out of this situation and can they also stop Team Galatic’s plans?
4
This Time:
“Double Team Turnover!”
Saturday, March 7th, @ 9:00am
Team Galactic is still in the middle of their plan to steal the Lustrous and Adamant Orbs. But what for? But Team Galactic’s plans aren’t going so smoothly as they find themselves face-to-face with Sinnoh Champion Cynthia. Galactic has an enormous force, but Cynthia might have something up her sleeve as well.

Notes:
This episode is Part two of “The Charge of Team Galactic” (JP Title)
Also noteworthy, no new episode next week as it has been preempted by the Transformers Animated special.

This was definitely "Season Finale" material.
And the VA made Cyrus's speech TRULY epic!

Cyrus was so cool in this episode. You pissed off the wrong guy, Team Rocket.
Team Galactic are bad guys that actully win.
On a less serious note, not only was she awsome in getting the job done for Team Galactic, but IMO, Jupiter is hot.

I think that Mars is better looking personally.
- I find it good that Pachi was included in a battle like this.
- I find Chimchar to be quite annoying to be honest.
- Akagi is so mysterious.
- The narrator also used his epic voice it seems.

I actually dislike all the Team Galatic character designs. Those two lines on Cyrus' face make him look gaunt and too old. Jupiter, Mars, and Saturn hairdos are weird. On top of that the team outfits look ugly.
Other than that I mostly enjoyed this two-parter. The highlight for me was the Chimchar subplot. I thought it was cool when Chimchar saved Pikachu from Toxicrunk's poison jab. And it was cute when he put his hand on Ash's face to cheer him up. It was also nice to finally see Cynthia’s phrase “when a light meets another light something will be born” (paraphrase) making sense. If Ash never meet Paul he would have never gotten Chimchar and Chimchar wouldn’t be the Pokemon he is today if it wasn’t for both trainers.

Chimchar is the most interesting fire Pokemon Ash has had since Charizard. They're putting an effort into Chimchar and making it one of DP's subplots.
Cyndaquil was a major disappointment (especially coming off of Charizard), and it never evolved, and Torkoal was ok and had a nice epic battle with Registeel in the Battle Pyramid, but Chimchar is definitely the most interesting.

Sean Schemells' Cyrus voice reminds me of his Archie (of Team Aqua) voice in that it's a voice that completely fits the character but the yells always remind me of Goku. :p

Me too. Many people seem to think it. Mars just has a...style that Jupiter doesn't.

Mars is hot also. I think we all can agree, evil girls can be hot. Being evil is something hat adds to it for me, someone should tell Brock that. LOL

This was a pretty good episode. I was surprised when Cynthia called out her Gastrodon. I was so certain that it would be a Pokemon she gets in Platinum instead. Still, it was worth it since we actually saw a Muddy Water attack. I still felt bad for Croagunk, but at least Dawn helped it out. And Dawn actually used her Pachirsu against the Golbat. I wish she had done that in Velistone City, but I was happy about it being used here too.
I felt so bad for Chimchar when it took that Poison Jab for Pikachu. The poor little thing was hurt like Croagunk. Team Rocket blowing their cover made sense and Saturn did show a calm face with letting them go for now. I was glad that Brock finally got to them. I was thinking that he would jump down from the roof. If my Pokemon was hurt like that, I definitely would have done that, even with all of the Team Galactic grunts around.
At least they were all able to get to the Pokemon Center. I understood why Ash felt so bad, but it wasn't his fault. I loved how Chimchar was trying to comfort him like that. No wonder I always think of Chimchar as Ash's second best fire type. It was sweet how Cynthia said that message that she said to Ash and Paul again. It really does kind of go back to how Ash got Chimchar because of Paul and if they hadn't met, then Ash wouldn't have gotten Chimchar.
It was clever of Team Rocket to hide the Lustrous Orb in Carnavine like that. Is it just me or does seeing Garchomp fly like that in the series look kind of weird? Maybe it helps that it can't fly in the games.
Anyway, it was cool to see everyone corner Team Rocket at that carving. Yeah, Cyrus showed how intense and practically crazy he is with these legends. Team Rocket definitely got the wrong guy mad. I did love seeing Skunktank's first appearance in the anime though. I think that I recognized Jupitar's voice, but I can't put my figure on it.
It made sense that Team Galactic won since it helps out with the Sinnoh plot. I think that Cynthia suspects something with Cyrus based on how she looked at him as he left. Hopefully Ash and his friends will be stronger when they see them again. I also believe that Mars mentioned something about a Pokemon Hunter to get the lake guardians. Something tells me we'll see more of Pokemon Hunter J, unless they use some other Pokemon Hunter, but that would be kind of odd.
Overall, it was a great episode and it was a really intense second half to the two-partner. It's too bad that we won't have a new episode next week, but that just makes the new episode in two weeks all the more enjoyable.

i really hope Cyitina appears in te final episode with Team Glantiaic the look she had when Cyrus when crazy on Team Rocket screams that these two will have a showdown at some point in the future now that would be an great battle not that Ash/dawn vs Cyrus wouldn't be good but this would be better.

So I take it the dub is always going to hire Goku's VA to play all the villains now? He played Archie and now Cyrus.

Well, that's only two villains in the whole series thus far. I wouldn't really take that as a sign that they would always hire him to play the villains. Though, I have to admit, I prefer how he's playing Cyrus over how he played Archie. I think it has something to do with how Cyrus can go from being relatively calm to downright crazy, which I like.

Oh, he's voiced far more than those two characters in Pokemon. Morrison is one character that immediately comes to my mind.

That a big difference there. Archie was dubbed when 4Kids still had the anime, while Cyrus is dubbed under PUSA control. It was more of PUSA decision to Make Sean Schemmel the VA for Cyrus, just like it was 4kids for Archie.

I thank you, CN's West feed. :anime:
When Pokemon does episodes like these, they just seem to be so well-done!
If I'm correct, Team Galactic will return again in less than 10 epiosdes or so, right? Remind me when that happens again.
The script was a bit unusual in the first half, having many quirky lines for some reason.
Wow, the anime made Cyrus into a really cool character. Props to the writers, not to mention Sean Schemmel's awesome acting. Now we have both him AND Lisa Ortiz joining the PUSA dub cast. Good to have them back.
The narrator sounded...uncharacteristically creepy. O_o

This was a fantastic episode. Galactic has turned out to be some A+ villans. It makes me think what the real Team Rocket has been doing lately. Cyrus is really awesome. And I'm not just talking about the voice. His character complexity is truely outstanding.

Still, it was worth it since we actually saw a Muddy Water attack. I still felt bad for Croagunk, but at least Dawn helped it out. And Dawn actually used her Pachirsu against the Golbat. I wish she had done that in Velistone City, but I was happy about it being used here too.
What really suprised me here was the use of Pachirisu. I mean, yeah, they were up against Golbat, but I thought Dawn was going to lean towards Ambipom. But I do hope this is a sign that Dawn will be spreading around her pokemon use a little more.
I felt so bad for Chimchar when it took that Poison Jab for Pikachu. The poor little thing was hurt like Croagunk. It really does kind of go back to how Ash got Chimchar because of Paul and if they hadn't met, then Ash wouldn't have gotten Chimchar.
Now I wasn't expecting for them to revisit the Chimchar subplot during this episode. But that scene was very cute. And Cynthia might have confused me a little bit there. I think she asked, what was born from Ash and Paul having met each other. But Chimchar is definatily an awesome fire type. It's very strong after both Ash and Paul's training. But the hidden Blaze should start coming into place really soon here.
It was clever of Team Rocket to hide the Lustrous Orb in Carnavine like that. Is it just me or does seeing Garchomp fly like that in the series look kind of weird? Maybe it helps that it can't fly in the games.
I didn't really think Team Rocket was going to get the orb in the first place. So this can as a big suprise, especially to Team Galactic. But I really wanted to see Cynthia just beat the crap out of all of Team Galactic's pokemon, but that didn't happen.
Cyrus was truely epic here!!! He was so angry, I think Team Rocket must have wet themselves. And his evil laugh, was just pure Awesomeness. Sean is doing a fantastic job voicing Cyrus. But of course, I would have been just as supissious as Cynthia after all that rambling. He sure seemed like he knew a lot more than what was just in his field of expertice.

Yes, this plot is turning out really well. All the pieces are coming together, and part of me wants me to see how far Team Galactic can make it. I mean, I don't want their plan to be busted half way through, becuase then the supence will haunt me forever. And you're right, Mars did mention the Pokemon Hunter, and I'm pretty sure they would be refering to Hunter J, I think it would be pointless to introduce a new Hunter at this point.

Most of the newer seasons come out on DVD very quickly and in boxset form too, its nice to see PUSA doing a better job with DVD releases than 4kids did.
Kanto and Orange Islands are both on boxset forms, so the first two seasons are easy to get. The first two Johto seasons need to be put on boxsets, only the final Johto season was.
The first Advance season is on Boxset form, but not Advance Challenge or Battle.
Battle Frontier is on DVD boxset, as is the first DP season, and as said Battle Dimension comes out soon.
Likewise you can find all 10 movies and Mewtwo Returns on DVD, although some are so old now because WB released the old ones. Movie 11 will be out on DVD by summer I guess.

I'm kinda waiting for a movie where the entire orginization of Team Rocket is finally defeated, or at least a special or something like that. Gio's probably taking his sweet time concoting some big plan.
You pretty speak for the majority of Pokemon fans about Cyrus, including me. Do you think I could piss him off like that in Platinum?:p I haven't played the games yet, so seeing him in the anime is the first that I've seen him.

I would actually like to see Team Rocket pull off some big scheme that will take the better part of a season for Ash to put a stop to it (and not just like, one episode out of every 50 we see Team Rocket) but more like Team Rocket is always a presence, and more than usuall. >_>
And it's the same for me. I also have not played the games, so I'm just enjoying the ride, and loving every moment.

Well, the reason why we haven't seen much of Team Rocket, outside of Jessie, James and Meowth, is because they are a part of the current generation of games. Ever since AG, the writers have been bit closer with the storylines of the games, including using the region's evil team, or teams in the case of R/S/E. I do agree with you on how Cyrus is a really awesome character.
What really suprised me here was the use of Pachirisu. I mean, yeah, they were up against Golbat, but I thought Dawn was going to lean towards Ambipom. But I do hope this is a sign that Dawn will be spreading around her pokemon use a little more.
I would have been even more surprised if she had used Ambipom since she had just won her third ribbon with it so that would be really good attention for Ambipom. I definitely hope that Dawn using more of her Pokemon will happen too.
Yeah, that was a really cute scene. Considering that it actually revealed its hidden blaze after its training with Ash, I think that it's much stronger after training with Ash. I hope that they focus on Chimchar training to control Blaze happens soon, but I think that would probably happen after Ash's next gym battle.
I didn't really think Team Rocket was going to get the orb in the first place. So this can as a big suprise, especially to Team Galactic. But I really wanted to see Cynthia just beat the crap out of all of Team Galactic's pokemon, but that didn't happen.
That would have been cool, especially since we haven't seen that many of Cynthia's Pokemon. It would also give us a chance to see different attacks from her Pokemon.
Cyrus definitely has one of the best evil laughs I've heard in a long time. He definitely seemed like he knew a lot more than he let on, especially when he said he would have to remember how strong Ash and his friends were before he left.
I'm sure that we'll see a big finale for Team Galactic's plan when we reach that point in Ash's journey. I doubt that they would stop it before it got as far as it got in the games. I thought that it would be pointless to introduce a new Hunter now, especially since Hunter J has had two episodes focusing on her capturing Pokemon for a buyer.
I thought this two parter was just as good as the Riolu special. These episode just seem like there is just that much more effort put into them than the other episodes. Yeah, I'm a little bumbed about no new episoed next week, but maybe we need to catch our breaths after this one. ;)
I kind of prefered the Riolu special over this, but Riolu is one of my favorite Pokemon and it evolves into my favorite Pokemon so that helps. Still, this was a really good episode. The one week break does feel like a nice chance to catch our breaths after seeing such an intense couple of episodes.

It's all spectulation. The only age we know for a fact is Dawn is 10. But how old is Ash? My best guess is about 14 or 15. Brock? He's probably older than Ash; probably 18. How about Cynthia? I'd say 22 or so. Cyrus. He's probably in his mid to upper 30's. Giovanni is probably around 40, he definatily looks older than Cyrus.
Those are my guesses.

It was pretty much stated that she was ten years old when D/P first started. She has sounded older to me recently, but she's still ten years old. As for her outfit, I think people in Japan kind of like having female characters dressed like that for some reason.

I can understand that. May didn't look that much like a ten year old girl either. I think Dawn looks a bit more like a ten year old, at least when she first appeared. There is always this whole issue of whether the characters age or not within the fanbase, but I agree that everything about the characters' ages is fan speculation.
CyberCubed
03-15-2009, 09:16 PM
Guys, its just fanservice.
The reason May and Dawn don't look 10 is because they want young boys to be interested in their stories. I think one of the anime directors openly stated that while May/Dawn and Contests are aimed at girls, they are also "eye-candy" for boys to keep them interested.
Back in the early seasons when Ash was the only lead, Misty only had her fanservice moments when she was in the mermaid outfit or select scenes here and there, because like Brock she was a support/sidekick type character.
But if you're going to make a female lead with her own story, they have to keep the young boys attention or else it would alienate pokemon's main fanbase, which is mostly males.

You have a point, but Dawn started her journey on her 10th birthday, and I highly doubt that it's been a whole year yet.
... and don't forget, sometimes she acts a whole lot older than her age too. but as some pervious post already said, it is somewhat eye candy. It's anime, and Pokemon is mostly aimed at young boys. And while May and Dawn look as if there are about 14 or so, they both started out at 10 years old. And think about it, Ash is much older than Dawn, both both characters are about the same size. Do you honestly think Ash (about 14 or 15) would be the same size as a 10 years old girls. Probably not. But then again, wouldn't it look weird if Dawn was considerably smaller than Ash. I think that would look weird, and it would almost seem as if Ash is like babysitting her. >_>
