Based on the last time you went to the movies (or any current ads you see in the newspaper), how much did you shell out for a regular weekend price movie? Myself, it was $9.50. Matinees are $6.50 up here, as well.

Well, here in the Portland area movies are $7.75 for eveing showings and $4.75 for matinees. Before the Act 3 theater chain was bought by Regal, movies were fairly cheap. But when Regal took charge, they raised prices by 25 cents two times a year. Once in the spring before the summer movie season started, and then again in November for the holiday season. They did for that for like three years in a row and finally stopped at $7.75. It's been like that for a while and I fear when Regal will choose to up the price again.

Whoa! Around here there's a theater that shows movies from $2 to $4 on a regular basis..... but then again, another one shows movies for about $7 regular and $4 for a matinee.

Sheesh! Like Sumi said, at the Gem we pay two dollars to four dollars and, at places like the AMC Theater at Concord Mills, we pay around $7.50 for adults and $5.00 for kids. (I think)

It's different too all the places within a 30-minute drive but it's about:

Adult: $7.50 - $8.25

Matinee: $4.50 - $5.50

Between 5 and 6 English pounds and matinee can be around 2-3 pounds if we are lucky (conversion rate, one US dollar is worth around 65 percent of a English pound).

We don't get drive-ins over here - perhaps it's something to do with the weather..

I don't know exact prices, but I know that the regular price of movie tickets here in Orange County are just shy of $8, and matinne is a little under $6 I think. There's someplace in Cali, probably at least 45 minutes from me that sells tickets for like $4. Man, people have so been getting ripped off with movie ticket prices, it's getting ridiculous!

Depends on which theater, but the usual matinee is around $4-6. Otherwise, tickets are $8.25. Not to mention, the cheapest item on their snack-menu is around..oh...$3...heh...

My hometown is in the Los Angeles County, and there I usually pay $5.50 with my student ID. Matinees before 5pm are $4.50-$5.50 and regular adult prices at night are $8.50.

I go to school in San Diego, and around the college area the theaters love to rip off students. AMC won't take our student ID's, they make us sign up with their rewards card to get the discount which is $6.50. Matinees before 4:25pm are $5.50 and regular adult ticket prices are $9.00 I think.

5.50-5.75 for a Matinee
8.50-9.50 for a night showing (anything past 6pm is a night showing)

and that's why I don't go see movies much..I have to practically SAVE up for em' weeks ahead of time.. :p

I know that the Matinee for the nearest theater is 5.25 I think other places are higher...there is a theater around here though, the Crest, that shows movies for $3 I think but the movies are ones that have been out of theaters for a while but not on video/dvd yet.

No clue 'bout normal prices.

I'm not sure about the other costs, but it's $9 with a student ID at the Coliseum here. A regular ticket is definitely more expensive than that. Damn worthless Canadian money :(

It's 5.50 all day long with my ID. It's 6.50 at night without the student ID.
