View Full Version : How would you bring them in?

Many on this board (including myself) would really like to see some classic superhero guest stars on JL such as we're getting with Metamorpho. Many of us would love to see characters like the Atom, Green Arrow, and Captain Marvel make an appearence. However, my question to you is:
What would the story be about that featured the guest star you really want to see? What would be at stake? How would they become an ally of the JL? Who would be the villain?
My own ideas will be forthcoming.

I would have it start with a giant robot dinosaur attacking, say Metropolis or an unnamed city, and while Flash and Hawkgirl are watching television and arguing over it Jonn and Superman comes in and Supes tells them to change to the news. Hawkgirl snatches the remote from Flash and turns the news as Snapper Carr reports of the dinosaur rampaging through the city. The team race for the Javelin-7, and head out. But just as they get to the scene, and find the dinosaur, it comes falling down toward them. Most of the team is looking at the robot, but not Superman, who says, "What the?!" looking up. The rest of the team look up and see Capt. Marvel floating above with his arms folded.
And in a cheesy superhero Tick-like voice he proclaims, "Have no fear good citizens, Capt. Marvel is here."
The team look at each with strange looks, and the credits role.
Then it turns out the robot was one of Doctor Sivana's and the rest I ain't telling until I get paid for it.

And that would be "Have no fear, good citizens..."
Let's make this a little object lesson.
There is a button at the top of every post that says "edit/delete." Hit this button on one of your posts, and you can go back into it and make any corrections or additions or deletions that it needs.
I went ahead and did that in the previous case. But it's a good habit to have.

The Story:
After becoming Green Lantern in "In Brightest Day" The Guardians have long time Green Lantern from John Stewart who normally patrols another sector to help in the training of Klye and act as his mentor. On one outing together they come up against Xotar , The Weapons Master a man from the future (who is a real character that fought the JL in case nobody knew that). Near defeat Xotar activates what appears to be a self destruct button that also catchs Klye in its wake since he is trying to stop him and in a energy flash they both disappear. Thought dead John Stewart transfers to Kyles sector to become The reigning GL over it
But Klye isnt killed and instead he and Xotar are bumped only ahead a few years into the future. Kyles interfrence having caused Xotars time traveling device to malfunction. Xotar ceases the moment and uses a device to erase Klyes memory and convinces him that the two of them are partners. Beleving that to be true the two of them set themselves up to take down Earths Greatest Heros The Justice League.

I like the sound of that!

Ra's Al Ghul attempts to release the Legacy virus which will do to the world what the Black Plague did to Europe. To stop him, the Justice League must become the size of blood cells. To do this, they join forces with Professor Ray Palmer a.k.a. the Atom.

This is a great idea for a topic. I'm surprised it hasn't been as responded to. I guess it's easy for people to shout they want Character A and Character B to be a JL member, but nobody can come up with a viable way of doing it. ;)
Knight, I really like the sound of your Kyle story, but it doesn't even have to be that complicated. I personally like your story better, but just to prove that Kyle is not as complicated as the creators want us to believe...
Kyle quickly became one of the premiere Green Lanterns and was charged by the Guardians to scout the cosmos for new Lanterns. John Stewart was left in charge of 2814 in Kyle's absense. Kyle's just been out in space this whole time. Let's just say that sometime in season two, he gets back to Earth and John Stewart returns to his post on Oa, a la "Green Lantern Mosaic."

Try this on for size and tell me what you think.
Synopses
Circe attacks Washington, transforming men into animals. Wonder Woman and Hawkgirl respond and find Flash and Batman already there, but transformed and under the control of Circe. WW and HG regroup and use the Bat-computer to find some female help. HG goes after Black Canary and WW goes after Zatanna. Both agree (Green Arrow tries to come but is convinced to stay away. )
The ladies split into two groups; WW and BC keep FL and BM busy, while HG and ZT go after Circe. WW keeps FL occupied while BC fights BM to a draw (remember he is being controlled by Circe;)). HG runs interference with the 'troops' around Circe while ZT traps Circe in a magic bubble that cuts off her ability to control the men. Once out from under her control, the men return to normal.
You would get guest shots by Black Canary and Zatanna along with a cameo by Green Arrow. At the end both ladies could be asked to join. Both could come up with good reasons to not join, or one or both could joiin.

How about these ideas? I think all these storylines would make great Justice League two-parters.
(1) Batman and Flash must team up to stop The Clock King and The Shade, who have teamed up together to cause trouble in Gotham City.
(2) The alien parasites, led by the Imperium (who attacked Earth and were consequently seen retreating in "Secret Origins") attacks Thanagar. Hawkgirl, Green Lantern, and Flash go to help out, and are joined by Hawkman in a fight to the finish (this time!) with the Imperium! (We could also find out why Hawkgirl's not living on her home planet, and why she adopted Earth as her homeworld, in this episode.)
(3) The Injustice Gang, now commanded by Darkseid, goes to Atlantis to stir up trouble. Darkseid has given them resources and commanded them to start a war between the "surface world" countries and Atlantis. The JL must team up with Aquaman to stop them before they start a major war!
(4) Speaking of war, Wonder Woman finds out that the god Ares is at it again, trying to start World War III on Earth. (He claims to have started both World Wars I and II, and says "Third time's the charm!") And guess who has become Ares's right hand man? Felix Faust! Now, Wonder Woman and Dr. Fate team up in an attempt to stop them before they can instigate World War III.
(5) Joker, using the Injustice Gang's resources, has broke open Arkham Asylum! All the major Batman villians are on the loose, including Bane, Scarecrow, Riddler, Poison Ivy & Harley Quinn, The Mad Hatter, and even Killer Croc. Nightwing, Batgirl, and Robin (Tim Drake, of course, since we have Nightwing) make a cameo appearance to help out, but it proves to be too much even for them. So Batman calls the JL to help him out (for once, instead of the other way around, like it ususally is!). Superman and Wonder Woman answer Batman's call for help.
(6) As part of Darkseid's elaborate plot for revenge on Superman after the butt-kicking that was given to him in "Legacy", Darkseid has sent ships to the remains of Krypton to gather as much Kryptonite as possible. Well, guess who was there at the time collecting Kryptonite for the purposes of finding a cure? Supergirl! Well, Darkseid takes Supergirl hostage, and tortures her for information, and does Kryptonite experiments on her. The JL (everyone but Batman, who does (and should!) always stay on Earth) comes to her rescue. This two-parter gets pretty ugly...
(7) In a great toungue-in-cheek episode that could be lovingly called "Another Girls' Night Out", Batgirl and Supergirl team up with Wonder Woman and Hawkgirl to stop an all-female cast of villians that have teamed up to attempt to take over Themiscera -- Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, Livewire, Cheetah, and Star Sapphire -- and this fight is for keeps!
(8) Sinestro, who has been kept in a maximum security prison on Earth, breaks out. And, he makes it back to the source of his powers, and obtains another yellow ring. When he attacks Earth, John Stewart isn't used to dealing with a ring wielder with such talent, so when he calls Oa for help, they send another Earth native -- Kyle Rainer. Since becoming a GL, Kyle has been patrolling another sector of the Galaxy, and this two-parter -- his only appearance on JL -- shows Kyle and John work together, their ways of using their rings very different, in another fight to the finish against Sinestro!
Whew. How's that? And I'm just warming up! These are just the spur of the moment ideas off the top of my head! (I wish that I could write for Justice League... sigh.)
What does everyone think of these episode ideas?

Squall,
I love some of your ideas (particularly the Hawkgirl and Wonder Woman items). I don't believe I can comment intelligently on what you've suggested, but I can at least say you've got some excellent ideas. Have you ever thought of writing a script or two? :)

Spider, I'd love to write scripts based on these episode ideas of mine... but even if I wrote scripts, who would I submit these scripts to???
At Paramount, since the days of TNG, fans have been free to submit scripts to Paramount for use in Star Trek TV shows. In fact, some of DS9 and Voyager's best episodes were based on story ideas and/or scripts submitted by Star Trek fans!
So why doesn't Warner Bros., Cartoon Network and Timm & Co. do this? To be honest, I'd love to see these eight ideas get translated into Justice League two-parter episodes -- no matter who gets the credit. Since I'm not "in the loop", and don't know anyone who is, I just post all my ideas on the Justice League Message Board, and hope some of the people who come here that are "in the loop" will read and steal these ideas and take them to Timm & Co. themselves. Well, I shouldn't say 'steal', since I'm freely giving them away. :D But you get the point.
And, to the best of my knowledge, some of the creators of both Justice League (the TV show) and Justice League Adventures (the corresponding comic book) come to the World's Finest Message Boards (and are also members!) all the time. :) So, if you're reading this, check out my episode ideas! :) Take them, write scripts for them, give them to Timm & Co., and take all the credit! That's fine with me! :) I just want to watch these eight two-parters on TV as Justice League episodes, that's all! And no, I won't feel like I've been cheated if you do, because (1) I just publicly posted this message, and (2) I only wrote the episode ideas themselves, not the actual scripts. :)

Squall,
I wish I knew. I think that the submission of Star Trek scripts was unprecedented at the time. (I could be wrong here, but I seem to recall that it was at least moderately groundbreaking--esp. the aspect having to do with fans submitting original scripts.) So your guess is as good as mine as to *where* your JL scripts would have to go. Perhaps someone else knows, or has already answered this in another thread?

I wish I knew! Maybe we here at "World's Finest" could organize some way to send episode ideas and scripts to the Justice League creators? They who run "World's Finest" have access to the creators, and the creators themselves visit this Message Board. Anyone got any ideas???
I was thinking about Amazo today. Since Amazo is an android that's supposed to have all the powers of the Justice League members... why not make his introductory episode (a two-parter, I assume) Dragonball Z style? The plot could closely mirror that of "The Android Saga" on Dragonball Z. In other words, a mad scientist on Earth (perhaps with Darkseid's resources?) would create 7 androids who are supposed to study the 7 Justice League members. After their "studies" are complete, they will combine into Amazo.
The Justice League eventually figures out something's up, but they don't yet know what. Several one-on-one fights take place (Batman vs. his android, Superman vs. his android, etc.), and at the end of Part I, we get to see all 7 combine into Amazo!
Cool, huh? :)
