Anyone who has read my posts knows how I feel about Superman.. and I got ALOT of folks telling me that War World was going to be the ONE that did it for me.
It sucked :(
They let Wonder Woman handle Hades..
This was like watching her trip over her lasso
This was like watching Batman lock himself out of the Batwing
This was like watching John John'zz accidentally materialize midway thrua wall & get stuck
This was like watching Flash get shinsplints
Im fed up. Mongul should have been MUCH stronger. Superman should have been MUCH STRONGER .
THERE IS NO FRIGGIN WAY DRAGGA IS STRONGER THEN MONGUL!! THAT WAS TOTAL CRAP!!
Hawkgirl blocks a blast that can destroy a PLANET with a mace???????
I quit... I got INFINITELY more satisfaction from Samarai Jack's "Jump Good" then I have from ANYTHING that Justice League has done. The ONLY thing I like about the show is the theme... and that isnt enough for me to watch.
I hope your happy Cartoon Network... your really managing to piss alot of folks off with this bull[explentive deleted]... and your killing interest in the show faster then Congress can spend money it hasnt got yet. :(

Calm down pal, I understand that this episode has obviously upset you, but that is no reason to just quit watching cold turkey. There is no show in existence that has had nothing but perfect episodes. look at some of the BTAS epps. Granted there weren't many, but it did have it's bad ones every now and again. I justwish you wouldn't let it stop you from watching. Thats just my 2 cents...

I for one love Justice League as an awesome adventure series, a chance for new DC animation, and great escapism. It's a fun show and I like it that way. It may not be the greatest series ever or even the most thoughtful at times, but it's fun.

I cant decide which was more fun then waiting for an episode that REALLY used Superman to potential: Picking scabs after going down on my GSXR-750RR or watching the chrome bumper on that old truck across the street rust

Well, I didn't particularly like "War World" all that much either, and I've had some problems with the show, but that's not gonna stop me from watching it! Give it a chance....we still haven't seen over half of the season! Who knows how the episodes will be? I just wouldn't give up on it so soon...still 13 more episodes to go...

Saying you hated "War World" and that you're going to quit watching Justice League altogether is like watching Star Wars, Episode I: The Phantom Menace and, after not liking Jar Jar Binks, deciding that you're not going to watch Episodes II - VI at all(which are all or will be awesome movies!). In other words, you're going to miss out, big time!
We're only 6 story arcs into Justice League's first season, so Justice League hasn't even found its footing yet. Are you expecting perfection? If so, then you'll be dissapointed every time. Batman, Superman, and Batman Beyond were amazing TV shows, but they had their share of nitpicks, and bad episodes too...
Justice League is a great TV show! I've liked all 6 story arcs so far, and haven't seen an episode yet that dissapointed me. I love this TV show! And it's only going to get better! :D
But, do as you wish.

Some of you have mailed me saying Im over-reacting just a tad..
:(
Here is how I feel.
I am a HUGE Superman fan.. just not in his current incarnation. The Only Story Ive ready that I REALLY enjoyed was the collected Graphic Novel "No Limits". It not only explained to some degree that his actual powers were WAY beyond anything he had personally believed (or perhaps feared) them possible, It had him take the next step into utilizing them.
It kept him at a "reasonable" level for most folks who LIKED the 'powered down', and yet made it VERY clear that he could surpass his levels should the need arise.
The ONLY reason I watched Justice League was to see what Superman would do.
Here is what I have seen.
Uninspired or lack of decision making skills and initiative.
Complete and TOTAL lack of intuition, adaptation, co-ordination, or inspiration.
No emptional range or reaction to anything
No interest in ending a situation when there is still more private or public property left to be knocked into (and therefore destroy).
Has never been in a situation that DIDNT degrade into a fight where he gets beat on and knocked around for a while till SOMEONE ELSE ENDS IT .
The plots, problems, and complications have been totaly ignorant and childish to the point where even my next door neighbors EIGHT YEAR OLD CHILD IS ASKING ME "WHY DOESNT HE JUST [insert use of power]..?"
When a child of that age can think circles around a show's plot complications...... a show written by adults.... its time to turn it off or plug in something a bit more entertaining.

the reason he isn't using all his powers is because he's holding back. Why? Well, if you've seen "Legacy", then you should know why.. ;) :)
he doesn't wanna over-due it and end up killing someone. Then again, I'm not that huge of a Superman fan, so I can't say that I'm disappointed in the way he uses his powers in the show..
I watch JL for Batman..mainly. I'm not upset to see how he's portrayed...or how little he's in the episodes...I'm just glad to see him animated again..

Actually, I must say that there have been some TV series that have had nothing but perfect episodes. The Honeymooners, for one.

For someone not familiar with Superman like me, "War World" was not a showcase of Superman's immense strength but a showcase of his moral character.

Eric,
No Limits was among best Superman book ever produced. (Have you ever read "For All Seasons" or "Peace on Earth"?) You can't possibly fairly compare No Limits to anything else. Few can write Superman like Paul Dini and Jeph Loeb. It's just nearly impossible. You have to forgive that.
Warworld sucked. Yes. I'll say it. I didn't enjoy it much at all. But if you've really quit, you just missed "Brave & the Bold" which was the best episode yet (arguably next to Enemy Below)
If you want to see what Superman can do, watch S:TAS. That was Superman at his finest. ESPECIALLY "Legacy" as Bird Boy already said. But there were too many good episodes of that series to count.
Please, (and this goes for everyone) do not judge Superman by JUSTICE LEAGUE. Go watch Superman: The Animated Series. THAT is the Superman I'll always think of when I think of the character.

hey Eric Draven:
first, i feel you pain. there are some things in JL that just make me want to loose all hope, like hawkgirl's mace blocking that beam. its just so strange for them to do stuff like that given we know what great things the people behind JL are capable of. and supermans strength has been really ticking me off, but in all fairness, supes got knocked around in every stas ep too, so.
but i will have to call you out on saying your stoping watching for good. All i have is three words: INJUSTICE FOR ALL!!!!!!!! Oh you bet you be watcing that night, i guarantee it!!!! EVERYONE WILL!! MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA!!!!
Seriously, we all know that no matter how much JL dissapoints us that this arc will be awesome!!!!! it has to be!!!! So dont loose all hope Eric, this shows still got the potential to surprise us all, well 'the brave and the bold' already surprised us, BUT I BET INJUSTICE FOR ALL WILL BLOW US OUT OF THE WATER!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOW CAN IT NOT, ITS A BATMAN FOCUS STORY, ITS GOT LEX, SUPES, AND THE ROTJ JOKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH MAN ITS GONNA ROCK!!!!!!! PEACE!

don't quit just because of War World, as a Batfan I have to say even I am getting sick of Superman getting knocked around, and I thought War World sucked bad too, but stick with the show, it'll catch up with your standards writer's listen to the concerns of fans.

I have seen quite a few of the S:TAS episodes.. unfortunatly I havent seen all of them.. and missed all but the final 10 minutes of the the first part of the Legacy Episode :( . I DID see the episode with Kalibac a few weeks ago.. and it was kind of funny. I watch over my neighbor's 8 year old a few hours a week as a favor, and we caught it together. He looked up at me in the middle of it and said "Why does he keep walking slow if his father is about to be buried in the falling building?"
It takes a kids point of view to point little things out ;)
I told him "It's like a wrestling match on tv, they have a few minutes left in the show so the director is right off camera telling them to stretch out the fight... 30 seconds to commercial" and winked.
He giggled pretty much uncontrolably for the rest of the episode yelling "Hit him with the folding chair!", or "Poke him in the eyes!", "ATOMIC LEG DROP". Hes a funny kid.
So no.. I missed Legacy with the exception of Supes breaking free with Dan Turpins death (showing he coulda gotten away at any time)
The Batman shows were different for me. Batman doesnt have powers, so I dont get upset when he goofs or has trouble. Hes NOT Superman.. so I can be MUCH more forgiving of him. To be honest, I enjoyed just about every episode of ALL the Batman cartoons. Some were goofy, but I was able to let alot more slide.
As for Brave & the Bold.. my work schedule (I work nights) keeps me from catching anything of the new eps, so I have to wait an entire week and watch it on saturday at 12:30 in the afternoon (right after Samari Jack). So I still have a week to change my mind

I knew that this was going to happen... As soon as Superman said "You're Mine !" and Draaga jumped in, I could hear the "screaming'" in this forum already !!
Here's my humble opinon-
While I agree that this was more of a "Moral Character" showcase than a "Strength" one for Superman, he DEFINITELY needs to be more powerful than he has been in this show to date. Not the 70's planet juggler, more like S:TAS. The all-powerful Superman is just not that interesting...
I don't know if I buy the whole "post - Legacy", not-using-his- powers thing... I'd like to think that he would and could use whatever is necessary to get a job done. After all- he is the strongest moral force around, and when his judgement is not being controlled by someone else, as it was in Legacy, I would think he would trust himself to not "overdo" it. At the very least, if it IS intentional, I would like to see him struggle more with that fact, or even address it !! A conversation with Diana, or Batman, or J'onn where he's wrestling with this "dilemma" could make for a GREAT episode.
Anyway- Don't give up on JL because of this one story arc. I didn't care for it either, and hope that whoever wrote it doesn't write anymore. Just remember "The Enemy Below" and "Paradise Lost". Those shows showed the promise of what could lie ahead.

Hey Eric,
Superman didn't break free with Turpin's death in LEGACY. You're talking about APOKOLIPS NOW, which was an equally awesome episode.
See both, but to see Supes at his absolute coolest, Legacy is what you want to see.

Eric, I know how you feel. I also was ready to quit watching the show after watching "War World", and even more ready to do so after seeing the preview for "The Brave and the Bold". But I decided to keep on watching JL for 3 reasons:
1. I've watched all the episodes so far; the season's almost over so I might as well continue.
2. After an episode has aired, I want to be able to give my opinion.
3. I'm hoping that they'll be an episode that will completely blow me away with well-written dialogue, outstanding animation, and terrific voice acting(no complaints). I'm waiting for an episode that'll make me say "This episode was outstanding!!! THIS IS WHAT JL IS SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE ALL THE TIME!!!!
So keep on watching, Eric. I'm sure the best is yet to come. :)

Oh yeah, Livewire. I still think the best is on it's way. I for one CAN'T WAIT to see the Darkseid episode. I just hope it's a two-hour one or so. And if Brainiac returns...that'll be great too.
