Well almost anyway. All they need is Eidos shareholders to approve it early next month and then Eidos will be be part of them. I wonder if they will change their name to Squarenix-Eidos :p ?

People thought this day would never come, but I knew better.
Well, actually, no I didn't, but I'm proud of the fact that I threw this image together in under 40 minutes.

Is Agent 47 going to have crazy anime hair now?
Are they going to turn Tomb Raider in to some kind of crazy action RPG?
This totally doesn't make sense. I like a lot of stuff Eidos does, but it seems to be odd that Squirenix would buy them out, and for a lot more then what their worth.
I just hope they DO something with their franchises they just picked up. I hope they don't go the EA root and fire or waste all the talent they just picked up.

Can't wait to see Lara's hidden Yuna costume in the next Tomb Raider.

You probably weren't being serious, but when one company buys out another, they expect to keep a portion of the old company's staff onboard to work on that company's franchises, should they wish to continue them. The change in management can mean changes for the franchises, but not to the extent that they'll just crap all over what it used to be and turn it into something completely different.

Lara is like meh to them for body image. They already expy with Yuna in X-2, and the chest was way surpassed back in FFVII with Tifa. If nothing else, they continue Tomb Raider with one thing in mind:

Square said recently at a shareholders' meeting that they were looking into producing more west-targeted products. I didn't think it meant this, I thought it meant less androgyny.
What we're all afraid of is what this means for Lara, who was only recently cleaning up her act. Square is more protective of their characters than Eidos, so does this mean an immediate cancellation of the rumored third TR movie so Square can make a confusing 80-minute CGI film starring a vaguely Japanese-looking Lara? Things are about to get very strange.

Well, outside of Deus Ex, Legacy of Kain, and Fear Effect, I don't see anything of value to be lost by this. I don't see things being much different, and I doubt the quality of either of their products will improve or decline because of this.

I think the reaction around these parts are just like reactions upon hearing that Disney is distributing "Dreamworks 2.0" films for the studio and idiotic rumors that Disney Channel stars are going to saturate themselves in Dreamworks films.
The Tomb Raider revamp won't get canceled because Warner Bros. wants it. Also, considering Warner Bros. Entertainment is a minority shareholder of Eidos, I wonder what kind of role they would play in the direction of the acquisition and what comes afterwards.
Warner Bros. is very protective of the properties they hold and could come on this side of the pond. Not saying that the Square-Enix-Eidos partnership will have Looney Tunes characters taking the place of Disney characters in a Kingdom Hearts III, but WB could help market the unit's properties beyond the video game realm.
Then again, Time Warner is the most poorly ran entertainment company on the planet and would probably sell off their stake in Eidos just to save a buck. It's crazy.

Well that interesting Eidos stock (http://kotaku.com/5152253/eidos-stock-explodes-in-wake-of-square-enix-bid#viewcomments)seems to have skyrocketed with the announcement of the Square Enix buy out.
