I'm curious as to why so many people like this character.

yeah watch them and Fathers Day-- his introduction to Superman is awesome at the least

he's had some of the most memorable lines EVER in an animated series-- ENTIRE speeches to superman

that plus the Omega Effect rules all

and Michael Ironside gives him a voice that makes him sound truly awesome

does anyone have any sound files of him?

I have seen all Superman episodes. But for some reason I never really got into him.

I loved Darkseid even when he was on "The Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians." But when I seen him for the first time on "Superman: The Animated Series," I was wide-eyed with amazment!! He has got to be one of DC's most ausome villains...and Green Hornet's right, Mike Ironside's voice rocks!

I think it's cause he's so cute & cudly, and he gives foor to the poor....

er, I dunno..I don't like him or Superman..

I'd have to agree with Batman 80--Darksied just never interested me all that much. His character just wasn't all that exciting--I'd much rather watch an episode featuring Brainiac or Metallo over Darksied. Granted, Legacy was a great episode, but Darksied still hasn't really caught my attention.

Darkseid is da bombay!!!
Like in the end of "Father's Day", when he toasted Supes w/ his Omega Beams. Quote: "THAT is who I am."

And when he vaporized Dan Turpin. That really got under Superman's skin.

And it really hit the fan in "Legacy".

Bottomline: Darkseid has brought the...well... the dark side of Superman, and that makes for compelling stories.

Luthor might be Supe's arch-nemesis...but the vibe between Supes & Darkseid is pure hate. I believe Superman HATES Darkseid.

After his defeat in "Legacy", I'm certain Darkseid has something vicious planned for Clark & Company.

it's the way he speaks. you can tell that he is beyond humans, superman, and the other characters. i find him comparable to Apocalypse. they both exhibit an heir of nobility like they should be sitting on a throne somewhere.

1: He is a GREAT villain.

2: He is evil as hell.

3: Superman hates him, and will go all out to defeat him, making for great fights and conflict.

4: He has the best lines.

5: His Omega beems kick butt.

I found Apocalyspe too be more interesting than Darkseid.

really?

Apocalypse strikes me as a marvel darkseid only not quite as cool

then again its been a long time since ive read anything with him in it-- he could be awesome now

Actually, he might be less condescending to his true son, Orion, than he is to Kalibak. Orion is more like Darkseid than anyone else.

I've always thought that Darkseid actually might care for Orion.

meta:

you're right he was pretty straight with orion at first
"i have observed your boldness and ferocity for some time...not without undue pride"

but
"I would hate to spoil our reunion with bloodshed"

shows just how little respect he has for anyone but himself-- hence his awesomeness :D

I never really like Darkseid too much, but he was cool in the S:TAS episodes. The voice kicked ass, and he had many memorable lines. One that I will never forget and is my absolute favorite, is, "I am many things Kal-El, but here, I am a god". I think that's how it went. Combined with a great voice and cool lines, I can see why Darkseid is a fan-favorite.

The end of Fathers Day got me hooked on Darkseid, I don't think nobody saw that coming.

He's someone that is more powerful than any other character on the show... do the math.

TOTALLY correct

Superman: Who are you? Darkseid: *OMEGA BEAMS* THAT is who I am

Darkseid had a powerful persona, and the fact that he Killed Dan Turpin made that episode just incredible. There stands superman, Himself and the world saved by the actions of dan Turpin when Dark Seid is forced to leave... But Kills Dan as he disappears.

The Power as Superman's rage just forces him to smash Darkseid's left-behind equipment. A common man saved superman, but Superman could do nothing for him....

That was a powerful episode. and It was because of Darkseid. He had a palpable "Master of Darkness" style of evil.

This made him unique. even for the DC series.

The first time I ever heard or saw Darkseid was in the Superman animated series. In the first episode he was in, he seemed more like the basic malevolent villian out to conquer Earth, as villians do. It wasn't until the end of the episode when he blasted Superman that I thought "he seems interesting". And everytime they brought him back, I was keen to watch the episodes in their entirety. He's just a compelling force. You want to see how truly evil he is and what he'll do next. I was shocked and amazed when he killed someone in cold blood just to irritate Superman. That's cold.
