The thing that I really hate about CN...
It takes YEARS to make dvds for good shows. Example: Fosters. A good cn show though it takes months and sometimes years to make the dvds. It's only on it's second season. So is Ed, Edd, N eddy. For the Powerpuff girls it took 10 years to make a dvd.
Some classics don't even GET DVD'S. Example: Johnny bravo and Dexter's lab.
But, (This is where the crappy part happens) when it comes to the boring, awful new shows, Aka: Chowder and ben 10 (No offense) They make the dvd real quick. Chowder had 2 volumes come out and it's been only a year. And pretty soon Flapjack will have a dvd as well.

First Off: There have been several PPG DVD's released in the past before the 10th aniversary edition, and even then CN released the DVD's for the show because they were popular at whatever time they were released.
Second Off: Chowder and Ben 10 are only bad in your opinion, and the reason they were given a season DVD release was because, yet again, those shows were popular at the time.
I hope that answers your unnecesary question.

Did I make a question? Where in my post did I ask a question? I doubt that Ben 10 and Chowder are as popular as the classics.

But you see, Ben 10 and Chowder are more popular than Johnny Bravo or Courage The Cowardly Dog. Why? Because the two latter shows were cancelled a while ago, and both get barely any airtime. CN releases DVDs for shows like Chowder because they are currently popular and are bound to make large ammounts of money.

CN has an irritating tendency to stop releasing a show if it doesn't sell well. I'm still waiting for more seasons of Billy and Mandy. :p The Edds and Foster are also incomplete. :(
I'm waiting for Chowder and Flapjack season sets. I don't like 4-5 episodes volumes for American cartoons.

You're acting as if Johnny bravo and Courage (Where did I mention courage in my post anyway? ) weren't popular, AND you're acting as if Chowder is the most popular show on CN that was ever broadcast.
Actually, chowder isen't. TDI is, and there's no dvd of that eaither. If Johnny bravo was on the air now, I think people would think it's pretty good and better then Chowder.

Yes they were popular, but as it is right now they aren't. CN could release DVDs for Johnny Bravo but they would rather go for a show that is currently a hit.
Look, this is obviously getting out of hand, and I would prefer not to get in some sort of off-topic disscusion of this issue and continue on with our lives. Is that okay?

It's not getting off-topic, the thread is supposed to be about why they aren't releasing those shows.
I'm sure there would be a market for JB DVDs. There are a lot more CN nostalgics than you think. :p

Maybe, but still, it's highly unlikely.

Disney and Warners do the same thing. The CN shows aren't the only ones I'm waiting for full releases of. Fox even did it with King of the Hill. It's not uncommon.

Guys, if you want to discuss why certain shows are not on DVD, that's fine, but please, no flaming. If this goes out of hand then I or one of the mods will have to close this thread and send out infractions.

Chowder had 2 volumes come out and it's been only a year. And pretty soon Flapjack will have a dvd as well.I know that you don’t care that much about “Ben 10” or “Chowder”, but you really shouldn’t try to prove your point by saying that those shows are awful. Such remarks are counterproductive and will only lead to arguments instead of sound debate, as saying “no offense” isn’t going to stop anybody from getting offended. Just because you dislike those animated programs doesn’t mean that everybody dislikes them, and just because you think that they’re not popular doesn’t mean that they aren’t. In these instances, it’s best to refrain from generalized statements and explain why you feel that those shows don’t deserve to be released on DVD, or rather, why you feel that the older animated programs deserve to be released first.
Actually, chowder isen't. TDI is, and there's no dvd of that eaither.Cartoon Network can’t simply decide to release “Total Drama Island” on DVD. They may own the rights to air the series in the United States, but they don’t own the series.
If Johnny bravo was on the air now, I think people would think it's pretty good and better then Chowder.Really? I could have sworn there was a marathon a year or two ago and it didn’t really do that well. I love “Johnny Bravo”, don’t get me wrong, but the facts speak for themselves.
People diden't think that they'll release the whole series of ppg, but Whad'Ya Know? It came out.“The Powerpuff Girls” made over a billion dollars due to merchandise sells across the world; I don’t think any of the other Cartoon Cartoons were anywhere near as financially successful. You’re still right to say that other Cartoon Cartoons could receive similar treatment, but I think it’s unlikely to happen anytime soon.

There are a few things that you need to understand here:
1. Johnny Bravo and Foster's were both great shows in their hey day, but both of those shows are over. They ceased production years ago, and CN can't just show the reruns forever, so naturally, the new series are going to take precedent over the old. In fact, CN ran a Johnny Bravo Valentine's Day marathon a couple of years ago, and it's ratings were not so hot, so there's not much incentive for CN to release the series on DVD. Also, once again, people are forgetting that JB, along with Dexter's Lab and Cow & Chicken, are currently running on Boomerang.
2. Chowder and Ben 10 are not "boring, awful" shows. You may have a good point, but it doesn't help your case much by your stating your personal opinions as facts. Just because you dislike the current shows, that doesn't mean that everyone does. Too often, I read posts from people hating on the new and popular shows just because they're new and popular, but this logic is flawed; people tend to forget this, but the cold hard truth is that the reason why CN plays Ben 10: Alien Force, Flapjack and Chowder so much is because both shows consistantly put butts in seats. Like it or not, Chowder is currently one of CN highest rated shows, which proves that the vast majority does not share your opinion that the show is "boing" and "awful". Furthermore, it's no different than what Nickelodeon is doing with SpongeBob Squarepants and The Fairly OddParents or what Disney Channel is doing with Hanna Montana and Phineas & Ferb. The highest rated shows get played to death. That's just business, folks. Nothing personal.
In 10 years time, CN will have new top rated shows, and fans will be complaining that CN no longer cares about the "classics" like Flpajack and Chowder, and will be saying that CN was so much better in 2009 than it is in the year 2019.
3. Cartoon Network doesn't own nor produce Total Drama island, they only air it. CN studios doesn't have the final say as to when (or if) TDI gets a DVD release.

Now then, there's an opinion and there's spewing hatred about things that the majority of the members here actually like. No one should be expected to take something like that lightly. You really cant come in here, say a bunch of stuff that doesn't make sense, trash things a lot of people like and then get offended when someone calls you out on it. And throwing a "(no offense)" in there doesn't automatically make what you say okay.

I thought the topic was about why certain shows don't have DVDs, if you ask me we have been on topic for most of the thread.
so can a mod just lock this thread?
Now that's just overreacting, just because we disagree with you doesn't mean we are "huge CN fans", we are just pointing out several reasons why DVD's for the shows you are talking about cannot be made due to the current popularity of the said programs.

He needs to understand that there really isn't a market for DVD of the older stuff like Johnny Bravo and Dexter's Lab. They tried putting a few shows out in season sets (The Eds, Bill and Mandy, Fosters) but apparently they just didn't sell well because it's been a long time since we've gotten anything else. And if DVDs of shows that really aren't that old can't sell, what makes anyone think DVDs of shows that are even older are going to sell. And in today's economy, why would someone even take a risk like that?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, we just got a complete series set of the Powerpuff Girls. But that show was popular in a way that no other CN original ever was or probably ever will be. PPG was lightening in a bottle. A true mega-hit. So it made sense to release the series set. And from what I've heard it's selling pretty well. So there ya go.
Why is Chowder getting DVDs? Well obviously cause it's new, currently airing frequently and is very, very popular. That's sort of a no-brainer. In fact, this discussion really isn't one that needs to be had. If there's anything I agree with it's that this thread should be locked.

I second that, it seems most people here seem to agree with the whole arguement, and I see no reason for this thread to continue.
