Ive been told that one reason Japanese Voice Acting is so good is because they all read their lines WITH each other in the studio-- one after the other. this leads to a more natural and emotional feel.

conversely, ive been told that most american animated shows do them completely separate and then have the lines cut/pasted in. this is why some of the acting sounds clipped and cut like they didnt understand the context of the line at all

i wonder what style JL uses?

if they use the "american" way, I think they should switch to the "japanese" way-- this could lead to MUCH better preformances ESPECIALLY for superman and Wonderwoman (the two who i think sound like they dont always undertand their line's context the most)

what do you all think?

maybe i am wrong about the two different styles thing??

It varies from studio to studio, in both Japan and North America.

For example Ocean Studios uses the "one actor at a time/cut and paste" method (which is the way most dubbing studios work). But WarnerBros Animation (from my understanding) does most, if not all, of their voice work in the "group session" format.

I don't know how they do it, now, but the old Batman shows, including Mask of the Phantasm, were done with the cut and paste method. You get to see proof of this in the Phantasm HB0 First Look.

Around the time Justice League first premiered, the TV Guide Channel did a breif "Behind The Scenes" look at the show, and they showed all the VA's together in one room recording their dialogue. However, I don't know if they do that for every episode.

hmm well id say Secret Origins probably had the best flow to the lines

if they dont do it for every episode i really think they should

Does anyone have the HBO First Look for Batman: Mask of the Phantasm???

Or does anyone know if it's going to be on the MOP DVD?
I remember watching it back in the day (10 yrs ago?) but didn't have a VCR at the time.
