:DWHOO-HOO! First the movie and now this. Is this the Year of the Jetsons or something?
This is shaping up to be a real good year for classic toons on DVD especially compared to last year's drought. We've already had the complete Powerpuff Girls set; and on the horizon there's Real Adventures of Johnny Quest, more Tiny Toons and Freakazoid, more Ninja Turtles, X-Men, and now the 80's Jetsons. Now all I need is for Disney to announce the final volumes of Ducktales, Talespin, Rescue Rangers, and more Darkwing Duck, and for WB to announce a Dexter's Lab release and possibly HB sets for 2 Stupid Dogs and Swat Kats and I'll be set.

That movie is still in development hell.

That's something to get excited about?

They haven't even gotten past the script stage.

Although as the script's being written, I seriously hope that Danny DeVito's the lead contender for Mr. Spacely.
Wow. Now there's an acid trip of a series if there ever was one!

Um, yeah. The original series was a flop, the 80's is where the Jetsons gained it's fame. There are more episodes from the revival than there are for the original. It'd be nice to get the 60's episodes as well, but this is a great start.

The 60s episodes are already on DVD. And I would hardly consider it a flop. Yes it didn't do well on ABC primetime, but when the repeats went to Saturday morning, it really took off. H-B was afraid stations would think those 60s episodes were becoming stale... stations were running them over and over and over in syndication, so they decided to add to the package.

Ah, I see. Then I don't know what DarthGonzo's going on about, then. This is awesome news. All of the Jetsons on DVD. :D

Not ALL, we still need to see the 1987 eps and Flintstones meet the Jetsons.

From my understanding, this is just Volume 1. I think we'll see the next batch of episodes real soon.
Heck, I'd still like to see Jetsons Meet the Flintstones AND Rockin' With Judy Jetson on DVD at some point or another (or heck, all the Superstar 10 movies for that matter).

The 3 Scooby Doo SS10 movies have been available for years. The others have all had VHS releases, so I'm wondering what the hold up is for getting them out on DVD.

Cause Warner Bros. believes that any H-B series not named Scooby-Doo won't do well.

I wonder if this means we'll be getting the 1980s Jonny Quest series on DVD very soon as well, since WHV previously announced that The Real Adventures is coming out?

Like Gobots, The Adventures of Don Coyote, Midnight Patrol, and the bulk of their more obscure syndicated 80's shows, I think WB is trying to ignore that show's very existance.

Damn straight! Now all they have to do is release S2, Vol. 2, Season 3, and the Jetson movies, and I'll be happy for life!:D

I used to love watching this as a kid, but looking back, it really is inferior to the 60s version.

Oooooh exciting!
:D
I haven't bought a DVD in so long.
Are they releasing them according to the era? I mean, they seemed to be releasing lots of 60's/70's stuff before and now they're moving on to 80s? or is it just coincidence?
And also, any word on Wait 'Til Your Father Gets Home Vol 2?

I totally agree.
I also think it's fascinating to watch both seasons as it is a GREAT case study for the evolution of animation. Same series and same characters but animated 20 years apart, it's amazing. You can see all the animation trends as well as the general culture of the time reflected in them.
