It was one of the best-regarded and most fun early 360 games. It was so widely well-regarded that it's being remade for the Wii. A sequel has been hotly anticipated for quite some time.

Woo-doggies, can't wait to play that! I never knew that I wanted to run over a zombie with a dirtbike, but looking at that screenshot makes me realize I surely do.

Bet the Wii owners who have been waiting patiently for the remake of the first one will be mad about the timing of this announcement, though. It's kind of rough to show off an awesome sequel they won't be getting a couple of weeks before they get their port. Capcom: "No dirtbike to Zombie head action for you! Enjoy your old game!"

I enjoyed the original, but was never really pulled in. I hope the new one is a huge step forward, as this concept has so much potential.

I couldn't help but notice the lack of a camera on Not-Frank-West. Really hope they didn't scrap the photography part of the game. Snapping photos was like half the fun for me.

You may want to read the responses in this thread that shows Dead Rising averaged an 85 rating.

The game was one of the mostly highly regarded exclusives of this generation and had the most hype of any game pre-Gears.

Dead Rising 2 is great news, with some tweaks it could be an awesome game. Change up the save system, survivor AI, and the way you get missions and it would be excellent

I was just about to ask that same question, too, if you can believe that. ;)

Anyways, I never played the original, but the sequel looks like tons of fun. Its just too bad that I don't have too much money to spend, these days. I'll still keep my eyes on this game, but I have a lot of other games to play before I can get to it, even though it still doesn't come out for a while.

Oop. Spoke too soon. Anyway, the layout of that screenshot with the new guy on top of the slot machines looks exactly like one of the early screens from the first game, with Frank standing on top of a bunch of crap in the mall while surrounded by zombies. It's sort of a homage, I guess.

The tweaks from the first game are definite improvements.

If this is as huge a leap as Lost Planet 2 is over the original, we may really have something special here.
