Ehh... I'm not sure I'll be picking this one up. Though I absolutely love Metroid Prime - it's definitely my favorite of the entire Metroid series - I already have it on the Gamecube, and, frankly, I prefer GCN controls to Wii controls in the Prime series.

Does anyone believe there's any real reason to play this again? I completed the original with 100 percent items and got the two seconds of additional ending. I think I missed a couple of scans, but I just got sick of that crap after a while. I don't think adding new controls is enough to make it worth a do-over. I guess it would be good for those that missed it, though.
And I still have it, also. Are these going to be full-price releases? I suppose they can't be downloadables, unless Nintendo is planning some new storage solution we don't know about.
Well, RE4's Wii controls made the game even better and most seem to consider the version the definitive version of the game now.
Not sure if I'm going to bother buying Metroid Prime again, though.

How do we know they'll even do the same thing for gamers outside of Japan?

Are these going to be full-price releases?
Nope. In Japan, games in this "Wii de Asobu" series are about 3500 yen (around $35) while new Wii games are typically 6000-7000 ($60-$70).

Well looks like the cost for these Wii-Makes/"New Play Control!" will be around $29.99. Gamestop has the Pikmin game listed as that price. Don't Believe me? Here proof. (http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=73028)

I still haven't finished the original after six years (though obviously I've been taking lengthy breaks in between attempts lol), which is why I haven't tried the sequels. So this isn't high on my list, and I'm surprised that they chose this game for the Wii-make treatment since there's already a Metroid Prime game for the Wii; couldn't they have done Star Fox: Assault or something? That'd be a peach. (disclaimer, I actually like Assault)

$30 still seems like too much for such an old game. It would be better if it was a downloadable at around $15, but Nintendo in its wisdom has decided not to provide the storage space in its console to make that possible.

I wonder why they don't just make a new Star Fox game, focusing heavily on the on-rails shooting parts. Something as awesome as Star Fox 64. That would be a great fit for Wii controls. I liked Assault, too, but a lot of people didn't and I don't think it would sell much better even if they repackaged it.

No no no no no no no no!
*facepalm* C'mon Nintendo, really now. Bringing back Metroid Prime like this instead of doing something new? It's already enough we have Mario Tennis and Pikmin. =\
I really actually don't like all these GameCube ports they're doing because, to me, if feels like they're going to use it as an excuse not to make new games for franchises. "Why bother making a new Wave Race when we can just port the old one and add some waggle?"

You mean 'new' like the latest Animal Crossing was?
At least we know they're making a new Pikmin, but since Retro is NOT making a new Metroid, it looks like this is all we'll get.
I'll be getting the MP1 and 2 wiimakes because I don't like the controls on the originals, (gasp, I know) though I might wait a bit for the price to go down.
The new Animal Crossing had enough content to satisfy me, if only for the greatly improved wifi. And I admit I am tempted to get MP1 and 2 because I never finished MP1 because I couldn't get into it and I never got MP2, but I love MP3 and its spot on controls. So the Prime games I kind of look at like Resident Evil 4, games that can greatly benefit with these new controls.
Pikmin I'm not all that upset about since they are indeed making a new Pikmin, and I hear the new controls fit Pikmin perfectly. Pikmin 2 is nice to see since the GameCube game is so hard to find anyway.
But rehashing stuff like Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat (whose whole gimmick was playing with the DK Bongos) and Mario Power Tennis, rather than just making new installments in the Donkey Kong and Mario Tennis franchise feel somewhat lazy and I could see them doing it as a way of throwing some of the older Nintendo fans a bone. "Well, we have no plans for an F-Zero right now so... here, take F-Zero GX again!"

No yeah, I love SF64 a lot more (the on-rail stuff is my lifeblood), but I didn't mind the on-foot stuff as much as I thought I would. Not saying that Assault for the Wii would be a blockbuster, but this Metroid game seems rather superfluous. And yeah, $30 seems a bit pricey, especially when it includes the regret the customer feels that they won't be getting a new game (an especially bitter pill with Mario Tennis, since I was really looking forward to new Wii installments for that and Golf).

I'll probably get Pikmin just because I've wanted to try those games for awhile and I can't find the Gamecube version anymore. However, I've still got my GCN versions of Primes 1 and 2, so I probably won't bother with those even though I did like the controls for Prime 3 once I got used to them.

I'm getting the Prime 1 wiimake because I prefer Corruption's controls over Echoes.
I'm also getting the Jungle Beat remake because of how much of an overhaul it's getting. It looks like Nintendo Tokyo learned from their mistakes and are improving it to please the DKC fans and the new audience. The lack of Bongo Drums control is disappointing, but at least shaking the Wiimotes should be less tiresome.
and hopefully we will get a sequel after this one. The Gamecube release sold poorly so I'm glad it's getting a second chance.
