Which animated characters are actually psychopaths? To avoid this thread becoming a list thread explain how they are a psychopath.

Now lets explain exactly what a psychopath is. A psychopath is not criminally insane (that's what a psychotic is), they can tell the difference between right and wrong, they just don't care. They have no conscience or sense of empathy for others.

I think you are arguing about semantics, what I'm saying, quite correctly, is that a psychopath is not criminally insane, like a psychotic is, a psychopath doesn't have voices in his head or have conversations with the dog next door.

Someone can have a metal illness, like say OCD and not be criminal insane. A psychopath can tell the difference between right and wrong, a psychotic can't ,so a psychopath isn't criminally insane.

I thought a sociopath is someone who doesn't have empathy for others because of the way they were raised, while a psychopath is someone who is born without a conscience.

Sounds right to me. I would also like to toss in Yosemite Sam, Bender, and most of Batman's enemies. Brock Samson tends to act similarly, but he does follow some sort of ethics. Pete (Disney) may or may not count, depending on the short/movie/series/whatever. This sound right to you guys? The Amoeba Boys might count as well...sort of. They can tell right from wrong, and activly try to commit evil deeds for seemingly no real reason, but they're just really bad at it.

Not really a psychopath has very little in the way of moral limits, so most of the goofy 80s villains are out.

So lets see here...Now that I think about it, most Disney villians dont have a sense of morality and are willing to do anything to get what they want. Some, like Prince John, may be too goofy to really be considered a psychopath, and some, like Frollo, do have an twisted vision of morality, but some sort of morality nonetheless.

If a guy who (among other things) caused all the people in the orphanage he lived in as a child to kill each other, for no reason, doesn't qualify for this thread, I'd like to see who does.

What makes him even scarier is the fact that he doesn't look crazy/evil the way Joker, Azula or Light does.

I'd say Sideshow Bob, but then again, he has "went straight" more than a couple of times... but of course, only to "go bad" again in the very next episode i appears in, sometimes even without a reason.

But one dude that has got to be a psycopath is the saturday morning cartoon version of Dr. Robotnik.

I'd say Eric Cartman fits this description quite nicely. Anyone else agree?Forget Eric, my vote's with The Joker. As in B:TAS, etc. And let's not forget the Transformers' Starscream and in TFOP, Trixe and Tootie as well as Francis, in addition to Crocker. The Jetsons too, when it comes to Spaceley, Cogswell and Uniblab.

That sounds like most villains out there, to be honest. Provided we're using the "character who knows right from wrong, but doesn't care and does bad stuff" definition. Like, say, Vilgax from Ben 10 who knows conquering the universe is "evil", but does it anyone because he's greedy and power hungry?


Vilgax was a great villain and I would definatly place him in this catagory, but The Joker from Batman TAS comes to mind as a psycho and socialpath, hehe great times.

I completely forgot Chris MacLean, and now then you mentionned it, does Izzy under the aliases names of E-scope or Explosivo could be psychopathic as well? Chef Hatchett don't fell in the same category however.

Alot of the characters who have been posted so far have shown some level of remorse or empathy at some stage or other. I mean, alot of Bugs Bunny's foes will feel bad if Bugs pretends to actually get killed, for example. That's not a sociopath. Or take Invader Zim, who has shown some level of empathy towards Gir.



Cartman is a good example of someone who has never shown any true empathy or remorse. The writers even make a point of having it so that when Cartman does show empathy (like when Kenny died for "good") it turns out to be fake.

The child molester (Kincaid I think his name was, in HBO's Spawn series (along with the preacher-dressed villain from another episode.) Rarely does an animated character actually unnerve me, but these two were just creepy.
