There's a movie on Sci Fi right now called "The Troll" and the main character's name is Harry Potter. This movie looks fairly old. My question is this the same Harry Potter?

You are right there is a Harry Potter Jr. and Sr. in this film.
I doubt that this movie influenced J.R. Rowling in her Potter books though.

Very interesting... and there was a book or a book series (dunno if it was 1 book or a series of'em) in the 80's that was written by a woman in the U.S. and the book's main character was Larry Potter and it has several things that Harry Potter has except the meanings are different, I think the court is actually trying to figure out if J.K. Rawlings copied that other woman's work or not, since Larry Potter did come much before Harry.

Eck, don't even get me started on that issue. Yeah, this women had a character named Larry Potter, and like a sister named Lily. And she had a book about Muggles...except in that series, Muggles where these really ugly, baby like people that were holocaust survivors. And, this women's books were never popular to begin with, but she's like, my sales aren't good because Rowling's taking all the business. I find it hard to beleive that Rowling, a single mother with not much money in England(well, that's changed), ever got a book, let alone even knew about a book, by this lady in the US...who wasn't even popular in the US to begin with! Coincidences can happen, as it seems to be with that movie for instance. Heck, I could find loads, and have found them actually, of incredible similarities between HP and LOTR. And anyways, JK said she was inspired by her childhood buddy Ian Potter for the character that would become known as Harry Potter.

Also, Harry is her fave boy's name apparently. Lily goes well with that last name... and it's my GUESS that maybe she and Pansy have more in common than flowery first names- like maybe a House?
The accusations sound as though the author believes someone was going to buy her book but bought JKR's instead. Mythic structure has to be taken into account, as well. It's not "Ron and Hermione bicker like Han and Leia in Star Wars", but that both are archetypical relationships drawn at least as far back as the romances of Lancelot and Guinevere. The other issue being what I observe as the kids entertainment trio, particularly in chibi-shouen anime. The kid character designed to appeal to the target audience, and a supporting guy and gal who end up together for older fans. You can fill in the main 3 kids of Digimon's first 2 seasons :( , Dragonball's first arc, Pokemon, Star Wars...
I'm unaware of specific mythological predecessors to LOTR's Wormtongue and Saruman, myself.... It is quite a small subplot there, and it's a nicely disturbing master/servant bit going on that does echo quite a bit in Voldemort's dealings with Quirrell and Wormtail. But it's fun to write about, particularly when you want to walk a thin line or walk all over it like I did in my HP movie fic.
