I know all fire alarms are supposed to be loud, but which one out of all the ones you've heard at what place might be the loudest?

Cause today at my college my brother and I managed to escape before the alarms sounded (the fire department was there checking the fire panels). So I thought I'd bring this up.

So far, the loudest I've ever heard are THESE:

These were the alarms at the high school I attended. According to a tag on the side of one of them, they are Simplex 4040 horns. These were pure hell for me! They emitted a loud buzzer sound, which was enough to make the whole school vibrate a little!

As for second loudest, THESE are the alarms at the college building I mentioned earlier:

They're made by Space Age Electronics, and unlike the ones at the high school, these ones made a loud piercing screeching noise. I have nicknamed these "The Screamers." They have these in all but two of the buildings on campus.

Tying with second place would be the alarms at my middle school, they looked kinda like THIS:

But they had these red flush-mount plates. These alarms were also buzzers, and were loud enough to wake the dead!

Third loudest would probably have to be the alarms at the K-8 school where I had kindergarten, as well as a summer program back in 2000:

According to what I found out, these are Simplex 4051 horns, and the red lens is not a strobe, it is an incandescent light bulb that blinks in time with the horn blasts. The light plate model number is Simplex 4050-80. That gray vent-like thing next to the alarm is a school bell, which was just as loud as the alarms here.

Any comments?

This is a really random thread...
Anyways fire alarms are suppose to be loud enough to make vibrations. Its so deaf people can feel it.

On the contrary, new fire alarms have strobe lights so deaf people will know the fire alarm is going off. It is required by the Americans with Disabilites Act of 1990 (I learned about this cause I am a member of the Helping Hands Club at my college). In the 1970s they used incandescent lights, but are pretty much obsolete now cause those kind of lights are not as attention-grabbing as strobes are.

Amen to that! My college is trying to be up-to-date as possible for students who have handicaps/disabilities. Aside from strobe lights on fire alarms, we also have braille signs next to each classroom door and on restroom doors, several of the entrance doors and restroom doors open automatically via pushbutton so people in wheelchairs can enter, and we have quite a bit of ramps and elevators too.

My high school never cared about this stuff, due to "grandfathering" clauses and because they're practically broke in terms of financial reasons.

Here's a G.I. Joe PSA from 1986 about this, featuring Spirit. And of course, here is the dubbed parody:

you get so worked up correcting me on saying death instead of deaf its confusing since they both sound the same and deaf people are basically near death anyway since they cant hear im going to give some mad jeers to you sir i hope you become deaf or death

Instead of wishing the death of someone you barely know on the internet, lets try and actually discuss the topic at hand...alarms. :D
