Wasn't expecting "Stimpy's Invention" or "Barber of Seville" to show up  :D ! Interesting results....two of my choices for best short showed up on the list :) .

Wow, that's great, I can't believe a few of my choices won! Almost all of these shorts and series are great, and certainly worth the honor. Especially "Barber of Seville", I think that one was on almost everybody's list! What I'd like to see are the administrators and moderators' picks.

It's really interesting to see that "Porky in Wackyland" was in first place. It was also interesting to see "Stimpy's Invention" up on the list too. I was kinda surprised that one of my suggestions ("The Pink Phink") made it up there as well.
For the best series, I was glad that my "Ren & Stimpy" suggestion got up there!

Yes, I think all of the winners are great, except for Animated Show choices 2, 3, 4, and 8, of course that's my opinion.
All of the shorts have their memorable spots though.
Who could forget the wonderful craziness of "Porky in Wackyland", "The Wrong Trousers", "A Wild Hare", "Coal Black and De Sebben Dwarfs", and "Duck Amuck"?
Or the timeless "Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy" song of "Stimpy's Invention?"
Or the stupendous animation and music of "Der Fuehrer's Face" and "The Barber of Seville"?
And who could not remember the hilarious battles of seasons in "Duck! Rabbit! Duck!"?
We also can't forget the battle of wits in "The Pink Phink"!
Everything seems to be perfect in these shorts, and don't tell me you can't get a laugh out of either one of them. I have all of these shorts on tape, so I'm able to enjoy all of them.
Still though, I'm shocked that "The Barber of Seville" got number six, since the Lantz cartunes have been of TV for years. But just to let you know, I voted for that one.

Another member PMed me about that. I would love to have an Animated Film Top Ten to go with the Animated Short Subject and Animated Series lists.
But, we would have to wait for the page to go up before we start planning more. It also might take less work getting celebrity top tens than hosting nominations and votes.

Excuse me for being the board's newest curmudgeon, but where the heck are Huck & Yogi, Beany & Cecil, The Flintstones, Top Cat, South Park, The Jetsons, Ducktales, Tiny Toon Adventures, Rocky & Bullwinkle or Spongebob Squarepants?
Cowboy Bebop? Gargoyles??? Man!
Oh, well. Time for me to go crawl back under my rock...

Ducktales? Hrm, that's interesting. I personally, always found Ducktales to be *very* poorly animated, and poorly written versions of absolutely brilliant comic stories by Carl Barks. If you haven't read his stuff, you really owe it to yourself to.

The Wrong Trousers (Aardman)
I've never heard of Aardman. What studio is it from?
I think 9 of the top 10 cartoon series are no good. :(

"The Wrong Trousers" is a Wallace and Gromit short, Aardman makes stop motion cartoons in Europe, they also did the recent feature, "Chicken Run." I don't know if they do work work for a specicfic studio, though.

You are right Jack, Aardman is the name of the animation studio. They work for themselves.

I have a collection of Carl Barks' Uncle Scrooge comics. You're right, he was a genius. He also drew some Tom & Jerrys!
BUT -
We must agree to disagree about Ducktales. They were animated as well as Gargoyles and twice as entertaining IMHO.

I don't know, I liked the entire Disney Afternoon lineup until about '92, when the Animaniacs first came out. Then I found out that cartoons could actually be worth watching.
P.S. What's with Gargoyles? And if The Wrong Trousers made it in the top 10, A Close Shave should be in there.

Well, more people have seen The Wrong Trousers over Close Shave. Both are good but Close Shave looks better.

Actually, I kind of liked "Ducktales." I've watched it a few times on Toon Disney in the afternoon.

First let me just say, thanks for letting me back on. I had a ROBINHOOD DAFFY situation (wasn';t recognizaed by the board, so I had to use a different e-mail). Second, I had too many files, which explains why I have been absent I am the former SJC.
Anyhow...
Where's classic Hanna-Barbera?
And smaller independent studios
1960s and earlier
1.the Flintstones
2.Underdog (Total TV)
3.The 1960s Alvin show
4.Gumby
5.Beavis and Butthead (one of the few 1990s shows I enjoy)
6.Spumco Ren and Stimpy's
Frankly THE SIMPSONS is overrated (just IMO) and I can only TAKE so much of Bart's rudeness and the show has been on too long., It was really only the flavor of the month for 18 months/15 minutes (sound familiar) and now it has been run into the ground.
Beavis and Butthead, while obnoxious, are FUNNY, and their "moron" personas make me laugh at them (pplus, MTV cancelled and for a while reran them, then let them, retire with grace-IF you can anything our two antiheroes do graceful.) In short, Beavis and Butthead was funny (edgy and subversively funny are NOT the same, folks!) unlike the agenda/propaganda filled THE SIMPSONS, and Beavis and Butrhead left after about 5 years (pretty much the average maximum for a show to run anyway).
As for cartoon shorts
1.From Hare to Heir
2.Gerald McBoijng Boing
3.A Hick A Slick and a Chick (surpiseed the Arthur Davis fans left this one out)
4.Three Little Pigs
5.Little Tinker (MGM/Tex Avery)
Glad to be back!!!!

Finally! Someone who has the same opinion that I do. I've always hated "The Simpsons." I think it sets a bad example having Bart say, "Who the #@$//!! are you?" in every episode and encourage 10-year-old kids to swear. Anyway, thanks for posting. I was worried I was the only person in the world who didn't like that show.

I was very surprised to see Duck! Rabbit, Duck! in the top 10. Didn't somebody forget about Rabbit Fire (1950), which started the "three cartoon stooges" shooting gallery shorts between Bugs, Daffy, and Elmer? I wonder why that was forgotten...

Actually, I think "Duck! Rabbit! Duck!" is worthy of mentioning. It's hilarious, how whatever Daffy says, it happens to be that hunting season and then... BANG! And I love his line when he gets blasted one too many times, "Go ahead, shoot me again! I enjoy it! I'm an elk, shoot me! It's elk season! Why don't you shoot me? I'm a fiddler crab! It's fiddler crab season!" Lol. However, I think the best in the trilogy is "Rabbit Seasoning." Who wouldn't crack up at, "Would you like to shoot me now or wait till you get home?"

Probably those parents (of Lydia Karaoke fame) who have nothing better to do than to complain about cartoon violence.
Thank goodness I am not one of those people.
