Does the Superman/Batman crossover take place while Dick is Robin, Nightwing, or in between? Just trying to place something in regards to continuity.

It is most likely while he is Nightwing, as the crossover occurred during, most likely at the beginning of, the TNBA timeline.

Well, according to Wikipedia it was October 4th 1997. Just kidding. But seriously, it's sometime during the early New Batman Adventures. So Dick is Nightwing. It's almost impossible to place it exactly between what 2 TNBA episodes.

In that case, how many years go by between BTAS and TNAB?

That's debatable. I'm fairly certain the general consensus is about five years.

So is it safe to say that STAS would take place from somewhere in the gap between BTAS and TNAB, until the end of TNAB?
Also, what's the concensus for the gap between TNAB/STAS and JL?

I think that "World's Finest" was the first appearance of the TNBA Batman. So, if we take "Old Wounds" into account, he probably left Gotham in Batgirl's hands while he went to Metropolis. If we go by "The Lost Years" comic to fill in the gaps, Dick was off training at this point and finding himself. If we place "Sins of the Father in contunity" shortly thereafer, then this is around the time that Tim became Robin, and Dick came back to Gotham, though this episode may have been older and taken place beforehand (especially if we go by the wierdo "Holiday Knights," and if we pretend, as I do, that "Growing Pains," which explains what happened to Clayface after "Mudslide," occurs prior to "Holiday Knights"). So basically, it depends on where you want to place it. Obviously, Robin is present in "Knight Time," so we can kind of go from there. With two or three people to take care of Gotham while he's gone (depending up whether or not Dick is in Bludhaven or whereever it is he goes), it makes more sense for Batman to go off to Metropolis in "The Demon Reborn."
THERE'S some fanboy overanalysis for you!
