Hello there everyone, I was wondering if anyone has the skies of arcadia video game for the gamecube?
Is there any differences between the gambcube version and the dreamcast version?
Is the game worth 34.99$ (Used) in your opinion?
thanks.

I have it
GC version has a new character, however not playable. As well as the audio quality is poorer because they had to compress it to fit on one GC disc while Skies on DC is 2 discs long. Also the characters in the GC version have fingers, where they did not have fingers on the DC version.
I think I paid $40 (I think) for it new, so yeah, its kind of a rip off. But if you can find it at a Gamestop they sell it used for $14.99.

Type in your zip and see if a store near you has one.

I've got Legends for the GC.
From what I gather it has a bit better graphics, shorter loading times and new content in comparison to the Dreamcast version and the aforementioned compression to 1 disk instead of 2 (though the audio quality isn't bad or anything).
And all the additional content like new side quests, bounty missions and new discoveries, is well worth getting the GC version over the DC one.
And in my opinion, I would say yes. But only if you do your research. Skies is a turn based RPG that's a bit dated. However I contest that it's still one of the best games I've ever had the pleasure of playing. It's got a lot of content, a massive world to explore, a fun battle system, great characters who are developed in a compelling story. All around it's great fun and I would highly recommend getting it. Though 34 seems a bit steep, it sounds about the same was what I paid for the game. But you could probably find a decent price for a used copy on ebay. That gamestop price is a steal though, get it.

I've actually got it on DVD. It is called One Piece though, and there are a lot of differences between that and the Dreamast one. :)

Yeh I probably will, my used video game store has a copy for 34.99 and the store owner told me it was one of the greatest rpg's ever and its "rare" to find these days.

What I meant was the part about one piece, what does that have to do with skies of arcadia?

I've played both versions. As mentioned earlier, there's the added sidequests & whatnot. On top of that, there's not as many random battles in the CG version compared to the Dreamcast version (although they still happen quite frequently). I'd say it's worth $35 only if you really enjoy turn-based RPGs. If this is your first dive into the genre or aren't that big on RPGs, you may want to check a couple other places for a cheaper copy. This game was my first RPG, & while I really enjoyed the game & is one of my all time favorites, if I ever lost it, I don't think I'd pay $35 to get it back.

He's probably just trying to push the sale, you can find plenty of copies on ebay and in other used game stores. It's not that rare, at least not yet.
A lot of the bids on ebay tend to push upwards of 30 though, but that's usually only if they include the case and manual.

They both have pirates?

The used game store that is selling the game for 35$ is selling the case, game manual, and disc in pretty good condition, is that still worth it or not really?
Still, it doesnt have any relavence to this thread..whatever though, im nitpicky.

Just buy it already.
A good game is a good game, and turn-based is NOT dated.

They are both based off the same pirate legend in Asia. If you noticed, there are a lot of similarities between the two.

Sounds like you made up your mind. I still say its worth it, but I hope you will think the same after you play it. So, just go for it and enjoy.

Well, the Dreamcast version is going for about 20-30 bucks on average on ebay, and you might be able to find one at a locally owned game store that still carries old games (several in the area for me, so I figured it can't be just here).

Yeah both are based on the same source, pirates so? A pirate theme is nothing new, and was not stated by One Piece.
Anyway I own both versions of this game, the Dreamcast version and Legends. I only bought Legends because I don't have a Dreamcast anymore.

Yeh. Hopefully I can find a cheap copy on ebay, a lot of whats on there right now are people selling it for like 50+ $, which is ridiculous, and hopefully the prices will go down.

Eh, it was kind of a rip off anyway. Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Skies-Arcadia-Legends-Gamecube/dp/B00007KUUD/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1232334226&sr=8-4) seems to have it at a good price. I've never bought anything used from amazon before. So I can't really say how well it would go.

Thanks, also, someone on amazon was trying to sell a new copy for 200$..
Honestly, who in there right mind would spend 200$ on a game that is at the max 70$, if your desperate.
