with your power ring. One of the things that I always liked about all of the Lantern incarnations was how they used the ring. I mean if any of them needed to beat up a bad guy. They would create a giant bat or a samurai to do it. The Justice League GL just shoots laser beams or makes a shield. I don't know if it is the writers/artists on the show being lazy and not wanting to draw different things? Or is John Stewart just unimaginative?

Perhaps it's a little of both. Since john stewart is a hard core military guy who does what it takes to get the job done efficiently the writers/artists maybe just think its easier to get away with boring constructs. But its not like they CANT make good use of GLs ring because they let Kyle do cool things in STAS.
I always kinda thought the point of of GL was the creative constructs, personally. Thats what makes him at all different from regular old telekinetics and forcefeild weilders like the invisible woman and pheonix. But even Sue Richards is more creative than Stewart and her powers aren't even designed to work that way.

You know what? I'm not even looking for complicated, Kyle Rayner-esque images. I'm just looking for hands or something. Just show us he can do more than bubbles, blasts, and walls.
Someone a long time ago brought up a great point about the Lantern in Batman Beyond's "The Call." They brought up the time when he held two buildings from falling down at the same time. This user made the point that as strong as Superman is, he could not have done that.
Let John make hands. Or boxing gloves. Or something. Or when they're flying through space, instead of creating a bubble for him and Hawkgirl, why didn't "Mr. Military Man" create a jet?
Throw me a bone. Give me something to work with here. I'm trying to like John, because Green Lantern is my favorite hero. But this character makes it really, really tough for me.

I really like him as a character. He's shaping up to be pretty interesting and he's a great Foil to some of the others. But I roll my eyes every time he shoots a beam or makes a bubble. Heres an idea I had today that kind of goes along with what you said about the jet, Clark:
People justify his boring use of the ring as a military efficiency kind of a thing. But if we want him to show off his military experience why not have him make jets, choppers, tanks, jeeps, submarines, guns (doubtful theyd do that but still...), bayonettes, and soldier constructs to help him fight. That would be a lot better than the drab use we've seen so far and it wouldn't be out of character for him to use these things he's familiar with.
Its sad that the most interesting thing he's made so far is that weird little battering ram in "The Enemy Below." Hopefully they'll lighten him up for his upcoming Flash team up. Maybe Wally can give him some advice on how to loosen up and have fun fighting crime.

while i like his charactarization in JL, I wish they would show some of his architectural background. Oohhh, maybe he built a construct with his ring and it "messed up", and he's afraid to do anything since. Or he wasted too much time once and it costed a life, so now he's always as efficient as possible. They could at least justify it with a story or something, and maybe even have part of a storyarc dedicated to overcoming this weakness.
