View Full Version : Outside of Supes and Bats, which characters do you think have a chance of a solo show

Couldn't fit the question mark in the title.

For the time being, DC doesn't believe that their other characters could carry a show on their own without their two top characters (Superman, Batman and Robin to a degree). But looking at it from another viewpoint, which characters would you say could conceivably carry a show without the big boys backing them up.

Flash: He's had more media exposure than the other non iconic hero, and could work as he is to a degree a simple good guy with a simple ability.

Green Arrow: Could easily be worked as a modern day Robin Hood and has made frequent appearances in a highly rated show (Smallville).

Aquaman: His first appearance on Smallville got top ratings and provided that people still know him, might work in his favor.

Wonder Woman: A bit iffy, but she is in the icon department. I think it's simply a matter of taking the best aspects of her various runs and could pull the same magic with her rogues that Timm and company did with Mr. Freeze.

I could see a Flash show working, especially if they go with the wise-cracking Flash to appeal to kids.

The problem with Wonder Woman is the target audience would be girls, how many young girls watch DC shows? They'd rather kids their age like Starfire and Raven in Teen Titans than some adult woman they can't relate to.

Other than that, nothing.

As I recall, plenty of people including the female demograph watch Spongebob Squarepants on a regular basis, and the young girl (Pearl) doesn't appear frequently.

Green Lantern Corps.

Honestly, why hasn't that been explored yet? The group is big enough to carry a show and expansive enough to not even need other DC heroes serving as supporting roles.

Lobo could also have his own show, but it'd probably be ignored because of how the uninformed would probably assume it's a poor man's Spawn or something.

Have to disagree on "Da Main Man". They could use him as a sort-of galactic adventurer, not quite like, say Buzz Lightyear over at Disney, but more like a rogue with a heart of gold. If they can get Brad Garrett to re-up as Lobo, it's gold.

Flash has some fun villains and would make for a great series as would the Green lantern Corps. It's more if those people can bring in the ratings like Supes and Bats can, sadly the answer is no.

Green Arrow (from Smallville) would work fantastically. Wonder Woman would be smart, too, if handled a certain way. Maybe Smallville-esque in that she's a University Student instead?

I think Shazaam/Captain Marvel would also work, but because Billy's a kid, it would probably need to be a cartoon. Unless its show is a spin-off of its upcoming movie starring The Rock.

I completely agree with a Flash and Green Lantern series. Flash could be a funny, or kind of sarcastic kind of hero, and I'm sure a lot of kids would enjoy that. There's definitely huge potential to do a series on a Green Lantern or just the entire Greek Lantern Corps. They could focus on one GL, such as Hal Jordan, or how the whole GL Corps works out. I could also see a Green Arrow series working out, especially if he was handled more like a kind of modern day Robin Hood.

I like the idea of focusing on the Earth GL's: Hal, Kyle, John, Guy and Alan Scott. Then bringing in guests from the GL Corp, and having other DCU characters come in when neccessary. G'nort would be a hoot!

Or how about Adam Strange who (I'm fairly certain) we've never seen in animation? It would be nice to have a straight Sci-Fi animated show, and then you could introduce the audience to the Rann-Thanagar War, other elements of the DC "sci-fi univ" like L.E.G.I.O.N., Captain Comet, etc, etc.
