According to this report (http://www.comingsoon.net/cgi-bin/archive/fullnews.cgi?newsid992869488,77270,) the next LT movie is supposed to combine live action with the characters again, but it won't involve Michael Jordan.

No Michael for Second 'Looney Tunes Movie'
Monday, June 18, 2001 8:04 CDT

Columnist Cindy Pearlman says it's not often that Michael Jordan isn't drafted. But the Looney Tunes crew took a fast break away from the basketball legend when it came to their next big-screen outing. Producer Chris De Faria says: "Yes, we're doing another 'Looney Tunes Movie,' but Michael is not involved. It's not exactly 'Space Jam 2.' It's a different story line with new live-action stars."

If they try to make up any more new characters like Lola Bunny, then I'm not going to like it.

It may be good, though. Who knows, maybe it will win the Oswald, I mean Oscar for best animated feature (the requirements for that award being that a significant number of main characters are animated and appear in 75% of a movie that is at least 70 minutes)

Ah, to be young (and naive)

Man, when will these people realize that mixing live action with animation almost never works (with the exception of WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT)?

Who Framed Roger Rabbit only worked because the character was created for the story.

Actually, I think the animation and live action combination went well for "You Ought to Be in Pictures" and the features The Three Caballaros and Anchors Aweigh. However, the movies only had about 10-15 minutes of it live-action.

I also thought about mentioning You Ought To Be In Pictures, but then it's a approx. 7 minute short. And while it is a great combination of animation and live action, it only has to entertain for 7 minutes. I don't know if Freleng could have kept it entertaining for 90 minutes, is there that much that could've been done with the idea? Not to say that it would be impossible, mind you, just difficult.

This thread just reminded me of Cool World by Bakshi. I remember hearing some pretty bad reviews of that. And Rocky and Bullwinkle didn't do so great, although it was good for an animation dork and Bullwinkle fan like myself. While I've never seen it, I guess Joe's Apartment might qualify (were they computer generated roaches?), and that seemed like it was a poor attempt as well. Any others?

I love Bullwinkle, but I'm sorry to say I hated the movie. I missed it on the big screen and rented it on video, and it didn't impress me. The main problem I had was that Bullwinkle has a smart, witty kind of humor that is quite hard to duplicate, and it didn't work here. I just thought the film was stupid, in plot and gags. That's just my opinion, but I prefer the cartoon over that movie.

Often, I enjoyed it because it reminded me of the original. I recently saw it again on video, and it was quite a bit worse, especially since the few gags I liked I remembered. A lot of it is a question of whether you can just ignore the dumb stuff, get past that, and laugh at the rest. And yeah, the plot contained a lot of dumb stuff, but I felt there were a few amusing gags, like Kenan and Kel saying they'd never be in reruns, and the dumb Swedish prison guard. It also probably helped that I really, really wanted to like it, too, and that probably had a psychological effect, if you know what I mean.

WB should make a new compilation movie that spoofs the format of Fantasia 2000 (While it's still in memory)...

It should have the following:

Smile Darn Ya Smile
Miss Glory
Rabbit Of Seville
A Corny Concerto
Pigs In A Polka or Rhapsody In Rivets
What's Opera Doc?
Book Revue
Yankee Doodle Daffy
What's Up Doc?
I Love To Singa
Katnip Kollege
Back Alley Op-Roar

Segments inbetween each cartoon could poke fun at Fantasia and its sequel (Boring host introduces a cartoon and bores everyone. Daffy Duck pushes an anvil on the host and it goes to the cartoon.)

This would be even better if Popeye The Sailor Meets Sindbad The Sailor preceeded the movie.

You mean "Corny Concerto 2000"

I would choose cartoons that were musical all the way through. Did McKimson ever make a completely musical cartoon? My mind is a blank right now.
