I heard that ABC will drop Nightline and CBS will kick out David Letterman and move his show to ABC. What do you people think about. Is it cool or does it sucks.

I think it sucks, because as I explained briefly in another thread, our ABC affiliate here probably won't show David Letterman until midnight or 12:30 or later. They really suck when it comes to airing ABC programming.

ABC (Disney) did not renew Bill Maher's contract. I think it was a stupid move but Disney has free up money for their crappy animation series, animated movies, and animated movie sequels. ABC doesn't need that much programming now that their going to have the NBA and Letterman.

Dave hasn't signed with ABC yet, so nothing is final. Dave is still with CBS for the present time. CBS countered ABC's offer of $31 million a year and a studio for $31.5 million a year. If Dave resigns with Cbc, it will be a huge blow to ABC because Ted Koppel will certainly leave the network, whether Dave comes or not.

CBS hasn't ever had a decent comedy show. Kilborn is terrible. Letterman is as close as they've ever came to achieving humor and he's still a good deal away from this achievement.

I think David Letterman is smart to stay where he is at.

If Dave Letterman did leave, Jon Stewart may have taken his place. It's a good thing he didn't go. I want JS to stay on The Daily Show.

I would not want John Stewart on the Late Show!

Y'know, it's funny - my mom watched Jon Stewart host SNL the other night, and she said he was terrible. I don't know about that (I missed the show), but I DO know that I have a hard time imagining anyone else doing the Daily Show. In fact, weren't that show's ratings bad before he came along?

And David Letterman on ABC? What if they didn't allow him to make fun of that network the way he does CBS? That would cut down on a good bit of the humor right there! (Not all of it, of course, but still...)

Anyway, looks like everything worked out for the best...

Well, if Letterman has indeed resigned, then ABC is in trouble. Koppel will leave anyway and Politically Incorrect will be cancelled. If this is true, ABC will have even more holes to fill this fall...

Yeah, well, I also think it's a bad decision to cancel Politically Incorrect.
