The peremere epsiode of Total Drama Action is up on the Teletoon website, I saw it and if you want to discuess it, I guess we can.

Do we have to wait till the episode airs on Teletoon this Sunday to discuess it? If not, do we have to use spoiler tags till it airs this Sunday?

But I loved the episode. I think shorten the cast from 22 to 14, makes the writing better, because the writers can focus more on all of the characters.

Wait, wait, WAIT!

I thought it was supposed to come out tomorrow on the Teletoon website!

Yeah I know, it came out a day early.

I'll post a review with a spoiler tag now, if the moderators want to delete it, than fine.

I liked the new opening, it was cool. Though I was hoping for a new theme song.

Poor Owen, the guy is having hard luck in love. Oh well that is what happens when you fall for a girl like Izzy.

Justin is defentely the new villain, when he said he was in it to win, he gave a evil look. An evil look that we have seen from Heather many times. Watch out for him everyone.

Bridgeete and Geoff get a room. I see the others are already starting to get annoyed by them. Listen they are a couple of nice people, I like them, but still get a grip. But Bridgeete line at the end was hillarous. I got to give her that.

On another note, while I think it is nice that two people that are very different, have become good friends, I think Beth and Lindsay might go into the Katie and Sadie area of annoyance. They are not there yet, but be careful.

Anyway I expected no one to get voted off in the first episode, just like last season, and I give the episode a 10 of 10.

I really think the cast being smaller is an improvement for the writers. Less characters to write off makes is easier for them. Though I am sure we will see the other 8 at some point.

One other thing I would love to see. Is Owen and Harold to team up to try to win the hearts of Izzy and LaShawna.

Saw it and loved it. It was hilarious. My only problem is that the story wasn't as well told as on TDI. It seemed kinda rushed. I noticed they have a new staff on the show. Although the old one is still around as well.

Amazing episode, and great start to the season. It seems that the writers picked up on what the fans did and did not like from last season, as this episode was consistently funny. The confessional bits, and Chef controlling the monster were the highlights for me. And finally, you can tell how much they worked on the animation. It looks amazing now!

Are all the episodes going to air online before on TV, or just this one?

Great episode to start the season!

I like Owen, but did he really have to win the first challenge? I mean, he already won Season 1, couldn't they have let someone else have it?

I watched it again, and what I also liked.

The way they decided who selpt in what bunk. I loved the gag that the boys so easily agreed on sleeping arangement, while the girls had to have elaborate game to decide on that. A great boys and girls are different gag. And had to that, the pacific gag on how the girls settled their differences, and everyone was happy with the way it turned out, even Heather.

'Kay, I'm back, and now, my thoughts on it: (be warned, it's LONG)

Beth, I think Justin may be lying to you...I think. (He said that Beth still looked "hot as ever" or something along the lines of that)

Izzy still wants to be called Kaleidoscope (or E-Scope), but for some reason, I can't call her that, am I crazy? Oh yeah, I wanted to say that.

Chris looked pretty serious when some characters (especially Lindsay) interrupted him. That's not good, is it?

And...let the Geoff-Bridgette making out fest begin! I wonder what the fanboys and fangirls of this couple are thinking...

Aw, poor DJ, still being a bit of a scaredy-cat.

Oh snap, Izzy got caught first, well, at least she's enjoying herself bouncing around the bounce house (as I call it).

Bridgette, Geoff, at this rate, you two will be eliminated early, so separating you two for a while, if there's teams involved in this, may be for the best.

I wonder how much we'll be rooting for Harold to still pursue LeShawna? We'll find out.

Sheesh, Justin made it look like it was an evil plan of his. So technically at this rate, Justin will be the hottest villain ever? Also, I'm curious to why even the males (Geoff and Harold) were impressed at him, so maybe you can't just blame Owen.

I liked how when Heather was caught, Lindsay was like, "Yeah, she deserves to be crushed!", but then she ends caught, too.

Katie is technically Lindsay (which is ironic, because they're voiced by the same voice actress) and Sadie is technically Beth, technically. Go figure.

Gwen officially corfirms that Trent is her boyfriend. Awesome, so the fans can stop worrying now. (In the TDI special, they acted more than friends, actually, that's why some people were worried)

I guess it makes sense that the monster (Chef) went for Duncan first, rather than Owen.

I could've sworn that Owen was more athletic last season, unless it was a remark.

Izzy pulled a "The Sucky Outdoors" and she was able to tame the monster...sort of.

If Owen can eat anything, can he eat vegetables? Heh heh.

I  'd when the monster suddenly wrecks the girls' trailer home after they were cheering.

Sheesh, even LaShawna likes to remind Bridgette about her relationship with Geoff. It's not long until everyone makes fun of them.

Izzy looked soooooooo cute when she was sleeping. :anime:

And Chris continues to tick them off while they're sleeping, which might never get old. Also, "McClain out"? That's not gonna be the last time we'll be hearing that phrase. ;)

I caught it and I have to say that was pretty good. It's a little less spicy than TDI was for some reason, but hopefully it will pick up. I think TDI had an earthier feel to its humor that was just inherent in the summer camp setting, with the outhouses and the things that make you puke and the animals.

I liked the new theme animation and I think for the most part, with one exception that might be remedied eventually, they picked the best campers to keep.

One big issue so far is that everyone is just too couply. It's not very dramatic and we're going to have to see some breakups and maybe even some unexpected pairings. Maybe Heather will really get between Gwen and Trent or something.

Also, Courtney is gone but I could swear I saw her with Duncan in the opening credits. She's the one I miss most because she was sort of like Heathers rival in being a manipulative you-know-what, a little sweeter but just as calculating as she proved in the final episode. But I can see her coming back at some point during the series.

Also, if the first one was a parody of Survivor with a little bit of Fear Factor, this one seems to have completely went the Fear Factor route.

One problem with watching it online, I can't figure out if there is a way to maximize the video. You can do that on other sites and I hook my laptop up to my HDTV to watch it on the big screen, but if it's stuck in that small window I won't bother.

Mesousa

It wouldn't be like Fear Factor without gross stuff, and and there wasn't any of that in this episode, and I'm also expecting less gross-out humor this season.

Well, Fear Factor also always had those stunts were people had to drive cars off the roof and stuff. That's what I was thinking of.

Well to be fair that is also because we're just starting out the season and the campers/contenstants don't have a reason to be really mad at each other yet. Besides I like that there are still TDI connections so it helps deepens just how much they've grown in they're time together. I'm sure there will be break ups and drama happening between the couples soon. I don't think Heather will be messing up Gwen and Trent since they can easily see through her tricks. Personally I think Justin will manipulate Gwen to go in an alliance with him or something which will annoy Trent. Seems like a solid enough idea anyway.

Fortuanley I was able to watch it before it was taken down so here are my thoughts on the ep.

I can see what Old Guy meant: They did kind of rush the story idea as there was far more they could of done with a giant monster parody then having him just dump everyone into the bounce pit (even if they couldn't do a Cloverfield parody there's still more material with that. Like maybe another giant monster flies by and fights with the one Chef's controlling or something. I don't know). I do like that since there will be movie parodies there probably won't be as much gross out humor. I also am with The Cartoon on hoping that Owen dosen't end up winning too many challenges due to his bottomles stomach. I mean really shouldn't people be trying to get rid of him first in order for it not to end up like Season one? That's what I'd do. Best highlights would have to be Lindsay and Beth bonding more, Chris having to console DJ after he fainted, Izzy/E-Scope going on a date with the monster and Owen being jealous, the lampshaded moment of Duncan asking why didn't they just pop they're way out of the tent, Leshawna's comment on Owen's overeating, "yeah we really should of counted that better" (I admitt I didn't see it coming either which made it a better joke) and Chris interrupting they're sleep. I do wonder how they're going to stretch the 14 campers into 26 episodes but guess we'll figure that out later on.

Here is a thought on what I thought would be an interesting way to end the episode.

After Chris says "McClain out", they zoom out of the set, and we see wearing cat burgler clothing and using cat burgler equipment, Courtney ploting on how to break onto the set.

But I understand TDA, is not one that does those type of forshadowing endings that action shows do. Maybe next episode.

How about a challenge, in which everyone has to act against their nature. Heather has to be nice and can't say or do anything mean, Owen can't eat, Justin has to do stuff without using his looks, etc.

Also I hope the teams at the end was temperary. I hope they don't make the teams a battle of the sexiest. Boys vs girls get old pretty quick.

It is okay to do it once in a while, but not ever episode.

Mesousa
01-07-2009, 10:47 PM
I also remembered that when Owen learns that Izzy was with the monster, he looked mad and his arms were crossed, almost similar to how Izzy reacted the same way at Owen in "Hook, Line and Screamer".

Maybe it'll have more continuity than we thought...

zoombie
01-07-2009, 10:58 PM
Well last season did have continuity, the beginning of episodes would mention the challenge from the pervious episode, for example the beginning of Dodge Brawl Gwen and Duncan still feeling the effects of the challenge in The Big Sleep.

The beginning of Phobia Factor takes place minutes maybe even second after the end of Sucky Outdoors.

Though other times, there would be no contiueation like Heather and Duncan's alliance, which broke up with no explanation in my mind. I guess because in the next episode they were forced to team up with other people, and by the time the game got going again, they were down to the final four and saw no point in the alliance.

I like that. I really think she could play a major part in this season, even if she's not an official contestant.

Another problem with the couples is that all the logical ones are already, well, coupled. Even if they do break them up and do-si-do them it would end up with some harder to believe pairings.

Anyone else think the Limo of Lameness or whatever it was is slightly less cool than the "Boat of Losers?"

Also, Izzy/E-Scope's date with the giant monster is definitely one of her more over the top moments, especially when she says it wouldn't take no for an answer. It led to one of the funniest confessional lines for this episode, too, something like "I'm so over that Giant Monster."

TDI was in whatever it is called. The movie studio is not on the island. Duncan said at the beginning that he liked the smell of being back in the city. So the show likely relocated settings. After all, the producers of TDI (the show in the show) can't afford to build an entire movie studio for a show lol.

Hate to point out a hole in that theory, but wouldn't there be an empty bed in the guy's trailer as well? I mean, seven girls & seven boys equal 14 people and I think the empty bed was just suppose the punch line to that bit.

zoombie

Maybe having to get familar with everyone, the producers knew that nobody wanted to be near Heather. Maybe, but I doubt they would care.

Speaking of the whole sleeping erangement scene, when Lindsay said that meanness is contagious, I thought it was another Lindsay stupid statement, maybe it was meant by the writers, but after thinking it over, she is actully right. Philsophic that can be a true statement. You spent enough time with someone, there traits can rub off on you. Weather it was intentional or not, Lindsay said something that was philsophicy clever.

They were on an actual Island. However, there was actually civilization on the Island. The producers probably blocked off parts of the island using their equipment. i mean, in episode one everyone got to the island via boat. And it was never implied that they were in a studio, Courtney just saw someone ordering at a fast food place.

The was a pretty fun episode. With Courtney being in the credits, I'll have to wonder when she will appear (if ever) in TDA. Izzy going on a date with the monster was a nice gag, and the scene where Owen was eating all that fake food was just hilarious. Sonova! They did change it! That sucks big time, I have to say. I enjoyed getting to see the first one but I guess I'll have to wait now, and stay away from these threads from now on. I can finally see how annoying it must be to be in Canada and have to deal with region locked US Websites, though. I've dealt with that before when I tried to watch some BBC and Irish shows, but I only had a mild interest in those and this is something I really want to watch. This kind of decision only encourages people to go to copyright infringing sites.

It was fun while it lasted, especially since I was watching it at the same time as everyone else and not having to worry about people who just couldn't resist posting giant barely disguised spoiler hints like agreeing too slyly and emphatically with anyone who said they thought Owen might go farther than expected. It's just human nature, I guess, that it's hard to keep your mouth shut when you know stuff that other people don't, but it made it harder to keep from being spoiled. Because of that post I was pretty sure Owen would make it to near the end and maybe win, but I also convinced myself it might also be Gwen because Owen had her on his shoulders in that early piece of Total Drama Action promo art.

See you guys after this airs in the US.

I dobut Teletoon cares if non canadains are watching their videos.

Cartoon Network got word of this, and asked Teletoon to block non canadian, pacificly americans for watching their videos.

It is no different from videos being taken off You Tube. Anyway I kind of expected this, just hoped it wouldn't happen so soon. But oh well, I didn't know about them streaming episodes early on their websites till just recently, so I was prepared for this.

I did notice that the characters had a wider range of facial expressions which was pretty cool and of course Izzy was her awesome crazy self as usual. Going out on a date with the animatronic monster? Only Izzy. You rock, girl. Also, she may have been having a bit too much fun in that moon bounce... I have some very high hopes for season 2 and they're justified already from seeing the first episode.

Yeah, I know that was weak.

Way easier.

Yeah, and I had a similar experience last year when, they premered two episodes of Avatar: The Last Airbenber on YTV.

Back on topic, I liked the episode and can't wait to see it again.

Guys, just type in "Total Drama Action Episode 1" on Youtube and you will see that people already put it up there. Just like when the TDI special aired, people are going to upload it onto Youtube just a couple of hours after it airs on TV or online. Granted the Youtube versions of "Monster Cash" are not as good as the original version, it is still clear audio and video.

Some spoiler news.

The epsidode description for the first four episodes are up. Spoiler from what I read, I'll post in another spoiler tag.

Read at your own risk, this spoiler is beyond this episode.

Gwen and Trent are the captains of the two teams. They have to go against each other, but at least Heather doesn't have any power this time.

Spoiler alert!! These are my predictions, but still spoilers.

I know it's too early to tell, but to me, it sounds like Duncan might become a new love interest for Gwen, prehaps if Courtney does come back, she could possibly be Trent's new love interest.

If it does happen, not only will it cause a big problem with the GxT relationship, but the CxD relationship as well.

Don't get me wrong, I am a diehard fan of the CxD and GxT couples, but I hope this would happen, because I think it would make it more interesting. We need some tension, otherwise these pairings will get stale and boring, like with Geoff and Bridgette seem to be. Doing nothing but kissing.

I want these couples rifts to happen, so in the end, Courtney and Duncan and Gwen and Trent will get back together, stronger than ever.:D

I don't get is why Trent was so quick to be jealous over Duncan. Justin seems more of the make your boyfriend jealous type of guy than Duncan.

I have to wait and see the episode myself.

Will new threads be created for this show when future episodes premiere in Canada? I know we can no longer watch it on Teletoon's website but there's still other ways to watch it without having to endure the obnoxious five month wait for it to air on CN.

Managed to see it (won't say how)

Well, not exactly the best start. This was pretty boring :/ It just lacked the charisma season one had and the episode was just all over the place so I had no idea what was going on. But imo this was pretty terrible.

If this continues I'm not going to have anymore intrest for this season. I personally think it would have been a better idea if they had a new show with a new cast but it's just my opinion.

I watched it, but it lacked, I don't know, something. Maybe before we had so many clashing personalities and different backgrounds, but now everyone just seems so "buddy buddy". And was I the only one that found Izzy weirder than normal? Especially this line:
Duncan: How did you manage to escape?
Izzy: Monster and I had a romantic date. He doesn't take no for an answer. Reeeally crazy, I can't even tell you guys.

That was just...I don't even want to know. :o

Ok, here are my thoughts on this season premiere ep:

1. It was great to see my favorite female characters again.:) I noticed that Beth had her braces removed. I also noticed that Heather's hair hasn't grown back yet!:p

2. During the challenge where they were running away fdrom that monster to their trailers:

a. It was weird seeing Izzy enjoy being thrown all over the place! I see Owen still has feelings for her. I actually hope they DO get closer as the season goes on.

b. Gwen just had to ask where the explosions and bears were, didn't she?!:p

c. I liked how Geoff & Bridgette said in the make-up confessional booth that it was time for them to "get in the game.":) I can only hope they stay true to their word. I still like Bridgette a lot.;) :anime:

d. I'm glad Lindsay still hates Heather, after what happened last season! It looks like she found a new BFF: Beth.:)

e. It seems Justin will still use his good looks to win. It seemed to work well on the monster.

f. Gwen still loves Trent!:anime: :D

g. LOL! Owen was too heavy for the monster to pick up!:p :D

3. I was very surprised that Owen unknowingly won the reward challenge by coughing up a key after he devoured all that fake food!!! Owen must have a bottomless stomach!!!

4. I see the girls are still having trouble getting along, mainly Heather & Leshawna! I liked how Lindsay settled the bunk bed issue by drawing mascara brushes.:)

Not a bad start for the new season. I give it 3.5 stars.:) I so cannot wait to find out who will be voted off first in the next ep!

Overall, it was a good episode. I liked the continuity of Beth getting her braces off, and the boys/girls relationships with eachother. Soon Courtney will be in and will add some more drama in. The date with Izzy...I mean E-scope and the monster/Chef is giving me a stronger vibe that Chef is a pedophile.

My thoughts:

Well, its a start of a new season. And where there's a new season, there will be some changes. It was a pretty good start. Is it me or did Chris seem annoyed or snapish in this episode?

Castmates:
-Beth
-Bridgette
-DJ
-Duncan
-Geoff
-Gwen
-Harold
-Heather
-Izzy
-Justin
-LeShawna
-Lindsay
-Owen
-Trent

Episode Highlights:
-Nice updated intro.
-Beth having her braces removed. I have to admit she's a bit more better looking.
-I noticed everyone has upgraded facial expressions.
-Everyone's annoyance with Geoff and Bridgette's constant making out.
-The bear having one more day left on the show.
-Yep, Justin is definately going to be this season's Heather. Hopefully I can make a "Damage to Justin" segment if things happen to him in future episodes.
-Izzy going out with the virtually controlled animatronic monster.
-Owen eating the fake food made out of hazardous stuff. (I hope this makes him control his hunger more)
-Chris toying with the castmates while they were sleeping.

Damage to Heather:
None surprisingly.

I can't wait to see what happens next. I hope Owen gets eliminated soon, though. He's had enough exposure as it is.

Well the episode already aired Sunday, no me need for spoiler tags.

But let me say anyway since this is speculation of future episodes in a spoiler tag.

Justin is the new villain. And from the description of the next three episodes. One of the evil things he is going to do, he is going to take advantage of and use Beth.

He is really going to break her heart, since one of the future episode description says Beth develops a "serious" crush on Justin. Even Heather hasn't done anything like that. But than again, it is because no one would fall in love with her.

I do think Heather might be the anti hero this time around. She's an outcast now and nobody other Harold is talking to her.

If Justin is really gonna use Beth, she won't win, UNLESS she backs out of him somehow, which Lindsay didn't do until she was eliminated in TDI, so this either going to turn out bad or good, as it turns out, these spoilers are actually making me more excited, then worried.

Being in the US, I've opted to use "alternate" means to see this as well.

An amusing start to season two. Everyone seems still in character from season one, though a bit more refined. Relieved to see they've eased up a bit on Owen being a "fart machine". :-p

Comments:
- Yeah, Justin's remarks definitely support my feeling that he'll be the one to watch out for this season.

- LeShawna got a few nice moments, though Izzy---or "E-Scope"---was also amusing.

- Looking like Lindsey and Beth might be this season's Katie and Sadie, though given this should be Lindsey's moment to shine, I assume they won't be completely useless like the "Dynamic Duo" are. ;-)

- Apparently the accommodations and such are all semi-upgraded over Camp Wawanakwa's, though still very low-rent... yeesh, the Greyhound I took to Toronto wasn't remotely as bad as that bus. :-p

Old-but-amusing Cartoon Gags:

- Two characters forming a body outline of themselves when impacting the ground.

- Some of Owen's eating of that fake-food seemed reminiscent of what I'd see Garfield doing on his show (along with rather cartoonish even by this show's standards---maybe reflective of this season's animation upgrade...).

- Owen too fat for the robot's arm reminds me of the first Simpsons Halloween episode (where Homer's too fat for the tractor beam).

Canadianisms:

- Per LeShawna's remark, this season takes place in Toronto, located in southern Ontario (far away from Muskoka in northern Ontario) a few hours north of Buffalo, New York, and Canada's largest city. Home of the Eaton Centre mall, CN Tower, Toronto Blue Jays baseball team and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation headquarters, as well as being, like New York is for the US, the economic center of the country. No, it is *not* Canada's capital---that'd be the smaller city of Ottawa, near the Ontario-Quebec border further east.

Next week:
A shameless-but-probably-hilarious ripoff of "Aliens."

The scene when the girls are arguing over sleeping arangement, and they decide that by drawing makeup brushes.

Beth: The longer (brushes) gets the top bunk, the shorter get the bottom bunk, shortest of all gets to sleep with Heather.

I think they will change "sleep" to "bunk".
