The key problem that I had with the "Super Mario Bros." movie is that it had the wrong look concerning the production design. The movie had a very dirty, industrial look, when it should've had a bright, "Alice in Wonderland" type of feel.

I honstly don't think that "Batman Forever" has as bad (I thought that the movie was an improvement over "Batman Returns", which was too dark, sinister, macabre, incoherent, and nasty for my taste) as certain people make it out to be. It primarily gets a bad rap due to its ties with "Batman & Robin", and from Tim Burton marks.

What hurt the "Star Wars" prequels in my estimation, was George Lucas being more concerned over the special effects, than quality writing and acting.

I gave up after the Batman Forever entry... where he lists everything wrong with the movie and fails to mention why it actually deserves another chance. He apparently missed the point of his own article, and I hope I never accidentally read anything by him again.

He really should have kept focused to actual movies rather than a few movies, an animated series, a trilogy and a clearance-bin amount of Disney sequels. The selections seem more along the lines of things on his DVD shelf he wishes to justify rather than seriously analyzed choices.

Titanic really doesn't need a second chance. It may not be everyone's must-see movie considering it was released a decade ago, but it had it's time.

Staring Walter Mathau and Elaine May, an underrated film that is often funny and enjoyable. About a rich man, who spends all his money and discovers he is broke...
..He comes up with a plan to marry a rich women to regain his wealth. Very few copies around, not on DVD, but lots of fun..1971.
Elaine May wrote and directed it, did not like the way it was edited, so she did every thing to keep it from getting out. Just shows that the director really shouldn't edit his/her own film. This is a real example of one that should be better known and needs a second chance.

Elaine May also directed "Ishtar".:o

Almost every critic who reviewed Ishtar was disappointed in it primarily because of her pedigree.

Yeah, I think he goes into too much of why people didn't like these films before getting into why these films should be given a second chance. If it was more balanced or if it didn't look so long either, then I think it would have been a more interesting read.

As for the movies here I have seen, I do agree with him on the Disney sequels. There are some, especially the ones made decades after the first films, that don't feel necessary, but I didn't think that they were that bad either. In fact, I only seriously dislike Mulan II, Pocohantas II, Brother Bear II and possibly the Lion King 1 1/2 for having such weak storylines, annoying characters and/or songs that just didn't capture at all the feelings of the original movie. Other than those ones, I find all of the other movies at least watchable.

I think I'm one of the few people who watched Super Mario Bros. and didn't hate it automatically. Sure, it isn't anything like the games, but I don't think I was expecting something like that either when I first watched it. I forget how old I was exactly. I thought of it as just for fun kind of movie. I also actually did think that the movie Yoshi was cute. At least when Daisy befriended him.
