aside from the animated movies, what episode do you guys think has the best/scariest/threatening Joker?
Mine would definitely "The Man who Killed Batman." He was about as dark as they were allowed to make him, outside of the movies. Anyone else?

The Joker was in a pretty bad mood during "Mad Love", since he almost killed Harley just for almost upstaging him.

Yep. Mad Love.

I sort of lean towards The Last Laugh. He threw Batman in a can, stabbed holes in it and threw him in the ocean. Plus he tried to trash compact him. Not to mention he almost toasted him. :p

"The Laughing Fish (From BTAS)"

"Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm Movie"

"World's Finest 3-Parter from STAS/The Batman Superman Movie"

"Mad Love (From TNBA)"

"Batman Beyond: Return of The Joker Movie (Uncut Version)"

"Joker's Favor" I think is his darkest episode. He keeps tabs on a complete nobody, even when the person attempts to move away. Why? Not because the person owes him money, could finger him or was ever of importance... But simply because the Joker let him live, and thus he owed the Joker a favor.

This, of course, is looking at "dark" from a psychological creepiness factor; not a violence factor.

"Batman Beyond: Return of The Joker Movie (Uncut Version)"

I'll buy that for a dollar.

Not only did he kill Chucky, but he drove Tim Drake insane and that laser in space had to kill thousands as it followed the Batmobile destroying everything in its path (throughout the city, freeway and several buildings).

Supposed to be appearances outside of the movies.

That was Bonk. Chucky was killed in a 2-part ep of JLU.

I'm shocked that I'm the only person who has picked "The Laughing Fish".

Yes your right about Bonk dieing, but when Chucko (not Chucky) died in the two-part JLU episode (The Once And Future Thing), it did not actually happen, because the timeline was changed by Chronos and was later changed back to normal by Batman and Green Lantern, so we do not know if Chucko ever really died after the timeline was changed back to normal. Although its not really clear, but he may of died in Batman Beyond Return Of The Joker, but I bet he survived, especially since Chronnos probably changed the timeline after the events of Batman Beyond Return Of The Joker.

Yeah I'd have to say Joker's Favor, but I also think Joker's Wild is a terribly underrated episode and a pretty brilliant Joker story. His motivations in "Joker's Wild" aren't as scary and extreme as they are in the former, but I thought this was a pretty solid character study for Joker, because he just couldn't stand someone else cashing in on his image and getting away with it. He's vindictive and petty and that's a side of Joker that I'm really glad Dini brought to light in this episode. Mark Hamill does an amazing job overall, especially in the little inflections in his voice.

Laughing Fish was just plain creepy.

Mad Love really showed his rage and manipulation at its best.

But his darkest has got to be Mask of The Phantasm. The scene where he attacks the Councilman is so scary!

That was the scariest he's been for me as well, though the moment that it was clear for me was a scene that he wasn't even in. It was when Batman finds Sal's dead body in the armchair with the twisted smile and the explosives. That really caught me off guard. Even the scene where he's the silent mob enforcer, just after killing Mr. Beaumont, gave me the creeps.

The first television episode that came to mind was The man that killed Batman. As a a kid, the scene where he turns on Sid gave me chills.

"Joker's Wild" is interesting for the reasons you suggest. The biggest problem with it is that the animation is just abysmal.

Joker's Favor is pretty creepy from the POV of the poor schlub whom Joker was stalking. However, I'd say Mad Love is probably Joker at his worst. Never thought I'd see spousal abuse on a cartoon.

i love jokers wild always have because it is one of my two favorite episodes

the other being tnba episode beware the creeper

if any one of jokers enemies could succeed in giving mister jay that nervous eye twitch and make him paranoid in the long term and make him suffer Incontinence over time its the creeper for sure

the guy is nutty as a fruitcake and crazy enough to take the joker on in a fight and even crazyer enough to freak out mr j to the point that he actually begges to be sent back to prison

If Joker says someone's a lunatic, you lock their ass up, throw away the key and bolt the door shut! Maybe bricks and concrete too.

maybe its jut me but they should have used his character more throughout the dcau over the years if only because of the fact that he is outright hilariouse and then theres the fact that he is perhaps the only person that could get joler all freaked out paranoid to the point that mr j would have a seriously nervous twitch like a freaked out rat being stalked in a maze by a cat

I would have to say...

#1The Batman VS Dracula because when the joker was a vampire and even when he wasn't he was very dark. Like in the beginning when he said "this time batsy I'm out for blood" and also when he was a vapmire at the blood bank drinking that blood, how dark can you get.
