For lack of a better thread title, who are your favorite Sesame Street characters who haven't been on the show in a long time? Characters who were on the show for awhile, maybe even years/ decades, but have very rarely (if ever) been on the show in the last 5-10 years, whether in new footage or old inserts?

I am mostly limiting this to characters who were on the show during the first 20 years (though possibly dropped later). If anyone objects I can start a seperate poll about the 1990s characters. And I am leaving out the obvious choice of Kermit the Frog, since he is still heavily being used (even if it's not on Sesame Street).

Oh, and I voted for Biff, Sully, Forgetful Jones, Don Music, Simon Soundman, Bruno, and others. With "others" refering to Little Jerry and the Monotones, and The Salesman.

I've always preferred the Muppet Show characters, myself, even as a kid. The Sesame Street gang were a tad too treacly for my tastes.

I grew up with Sesame Street. And while I do prefer the Muppet Show characters, I'll always have a soft spot for the Sesame Street Muppets, at least the all of them up until the mid 1980s or so.

That said, I've always liked Don Music because of how controversial he was. That and his meltdowns tended to scare me a little as a kid. Bruno creeped me out too.

Yeah, it's hard for me to choose between whether I like The Muppet Show (and it's related specials, movies, and follow-up series) or Sesame Street better. Sometimes I really like one better, other times I like the other better. Usually this depends on if there's something new and exciting to be reelased (or once I get it), related to one of them, whether it be a DVD of classic Sesame Street segments, a Muppet Show season set, collectible action figures, a new special, sesamestreet.org, or an anniversary. So right now I'm really obsessing over Sesame Street, what with the current Street Gang book out (though I haven't found a copy yet, though there have been othe rbooks -- especially Muppet books -- that I didn't find until a few weeks after the official release), the other anniversary book that's comming next fall, and the 40th anniversary DVD that's planned for november (and I had fantasized about such a collection since before it was announced).

Though lately I've also been fantasizing about ways for past Muppet productions to be released on DVD, or broadcast on a Disney-owned network. And also ideas for new Muppet shows.

Can we say the old version of Cookie Monster, before the CTW screwed up and had him be more healthy?
