A while back Joe Murray released an eBook titled "Crafting a Cartoon." It's basically a how-to book on animation Joe wrote using his experience on both "Rocko" and "Lazlo" as an example.
If anyone is interested in making cartoons, then they should do themselves a favor and look at the book. It's actually very informative and gives helpful tips on what you should do and don't, and what to expect.
At one point, Joe wrote about how much involved he was in the production of his shows. On "Rocko," he was heavily involved in every aspect of the show (at least in the first 3 seasons). Because that stressed him out (combined with the fact that his wife committed suicide on the week the Rocko production began), on Lazlo he let Mark O'Hare do the overall supervision, even though they still had to get Joe's approval before things got sent overseas.
