Everyone is making a list of the best and worst movies of the year, but what about the guilty pleasures:

Death Race. No contest. A guy's movie through and through, full of gratuitous shots of explosions, sticky violence, and smash-in-the-face action scenes. I don't claim that the movie had much in the way of redeeming value (it was basically a video game), but it was the kind of thing that would go well with a pizza a festival of testosterone at a party.

No contest.

Not even Rambo?

Didn't see Rambo ;). I understand that if you take it at face value, sheerly as a exploitation movie, then it's pretty much exactly what you pay for.

Not even Rambo?

Rambo is probably my second-favorite movie of the year. Light on story perhaps, but an otherwise solid, well-made action flick with some relevance.

I have no guilty pleasures. It's a term I've never cared for. If I like something, I like it, and I'm not going to feel guilty about it.

The Mummy 3 (I'm too lazy to write full title). The Mummy fangirl in me prevented me from hating this (that, and the fact that I went into the movie expecting it to be utter garbage...).

No need to be guilty about Speed Racer. A lot of critics might not have liked what it was trying to do, but on its own terms its mostly successful and from the technical side of things it's a masterpiece. I'm actually hoping it gets an Oscar nom for editing or cinematography or the soundtrack.

The linked article is a very poorly written piece. Several of the movies on there don't sound like they were "guilty" at all for the reviewer. If he laughed all the way through a comedy (Drillbit Taylor), isn't it accomplishing exactly what it set out to do?

I don't care for movies by DreamWorks, but I liked Kung Fu Panda...

A movie isn't judged by what it's trying to do. It's judged by how good it is at what it's doing. A movie can be funny, but that doesn't mean it's good. Even if it's in the comedy genre. Some comedies are stupid. Others are simply poorly made. Should that be ignored simply cause it's funny? Especially when you have movies that can be funny, smart, and well-made.

I'd go and say that of the ones I've seen on a theater, my most guilty pleasure would be either Speed Racer or Transporter 3.

Disaster Movie.........nah.:p

I didn't really have any guilty pleasure's for 2008, unless thinking that "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" was a pretty good movie counts.

I loved Rambo. Probably one of my favorite movies of the year until Iron Man came out then stuff just kept getting better and better. I went to see Rambo 3 times with different people.

Personally, I have no guilt about loving Speed Racer. One of the best films I've seen all year, if not the best.

Guilty pleasure? The Spirit, no question.

I'd say the Dungeon Siege movie. It may have been directed by the notorious Uwe Boll, but that notwithstanding I thought it was actually a decent movie!

I've also seen Uwe Boll's Postal (I saw it on DVD), it's an instant guilty pleasure, like the games.

Please don't be mad, it's honest opinion, HONEST!

HONEST!!!
