Harvey Birdman, Attorney-at-Law Returns to Adult Swim Line-up in July
Adult Swim Adds New Night of Action Programming; Four Returning Comedies Given Greenlight for New Seasons

Adult Swim's breakout show, Harvey Birdman, Attorney-at-Law, returns with 20 new episodes chronicling the winged litigator's adventures.
Harvey Birdman, Attorney-at-Law was part of the original Adult Swim line-up, which launched on September 2, 2001. Immediate critical and fan feedback led Cartoon Network to greenlight 20 additional episodes of the series, which will air on Adult Swim beginning in July.

But once you're a superhero, it stays in your blood. Beneath his pinstriped gabardine suit, Harvey still wears his tights and cowl. Ably assisted by his bird-of-prey-turned-legal aide Avenger, Birdman sticks his hands deep inside the legal briefs of cartoon litigation. In his first case, Harvey unraveled a messy custody battle between Race Bannon and Dr. Benton Quest. Then he handled Apache Chief's court case after a scalding cup of gourmet java renders him unable to use his "superpower." As the evidence in Harvey Birdman, Attorney-at-Law suggests, justice is not pretty.

Cartoon Network's Adult Swim attracts more viewers 18-34 than such key cable competitors as Comedy Central, FX, VH1, Sci-Fi, E! and the Discovery Channel. Delivery of adults 18-34 in January 2002 was up 52 percent over the same time period last year. Adult Swim's performance has attracted the attention of advertisers such as the U.S. Navy, Levi Strauss, Honda, Chili's Restaurants and Gilette.
Adult Swim airs two nights a week. The Saturday evening lineup features action programming and Japanese anim?shows, many of which have never been seen before on U.S. television. Leading the block is Cowboy Bebop, the space-age bounty hunter thriller that has been one of Adult Swim 's standout ratings performers. Other shows airing during the Saturday evening edition of Adult Swim include Pilot Candidate, Gundam 0083, Yu Yu Hakusho and Outlaw Star.

Adult Swim will add several new series and specials to the block this year, including three acquisitions from the WB. Baby Blues, the story of a stressed-out couple dealing with the implications of parenthood, debuted in January and has immediately established itself as one of Adult Swim's highest-rated programs. Mission Hill, a show about a twenty-something, urban-dwelling single who gets custody of his obnoxious, honor student teenage brother, joins Adult Swim in May. In June, The Oblongs, the sage of a happy all-American family with a panoply of physical defects linked to the polluted swamp near their home, will make its Adult Swim debut.
Based on their success over the first six months of Adult Swim, Cartoon Network has given the greenlight to 13 new episodes of the following series:
Aqua Teen Hunger Force, which follows the absurdist adventures of Master Shake, Frylock and Meatwad, human-sized food products who live in a ranch house in New Jersey and solve crime.
Sealab 2021, an update of a long-forgotten Hanna-Barbera series. The undersea laboratory is now run not by the world's top scientists, but by a bunch of bickering idiots.
The Brak Show, a sweet sitcom with impromptu songs starring demented space alien Brak and his best pal, evil preying mantis Zorak. Brak lives on distant planet that seems very much like the suburban heartland of America, circa 1962.
Home Movies, the chatty series about a boy who deals with his anxieties by making movies starring his friends and schoolmates. Auteur Brendon Small often turns to a motley crew of adults, including his recently divorced mom and his soccer coach, for advice.

Update! The New York Daily News has revealed the plot of one of the upcoming Harvey Birdman episodes...
Yabba Dabba *&#@$!
Animators at the Cartoon Network have developed a short sketch called "The Sopranstones," which blends Tony Soprano, from the HBO series, with Fred Flinstone.
The sketch is expected to air on the upcoming series "Harvey Birdman, Attorney-at-Law," an updated version of the Hanna-Barbera classic about a lawyer who argues cases for superheroes.
"When we looked at 'The Sopranos' and 'The Flinstones,' there were just so many similarities between Tony Soprano and Fred," said series co-creator Erik Richter. "They both work in construction, their wives both have diamond rings and furs. It was a complete fit."
