Reliable Source

Good evening, fellow bat-fans! I'm back after a much-needed sabbatical. Now I'm tanned, I'm rested, and I'm ready to give you all the biggest scoop since Lois Lane got a peek beneath Batman's cowl.
Ever wonder why WB is dragging their feet about releasing "Return of The Joker" uncut? You'd think with all the fuss raised by fanboys (and fangirls) across the world, crying out for blood over the editing of this movie, the folks at Warner Brothers would want to make the uncut version of the film available, right? Well, the truth is... they already have.
As usual, I have to keep my sources a secret. But, a high ranking official within the WB offices told this reporter what the real buzz is, and it looks like Paul Dini and Bruce Timm got the real last laugh in this game. The uncut version of the movie is actually a hidden feature on the DVD of the regular version of the movie!
"Those sneaky sons of [expletive deleted], Paul Dini and Bruce Timm, paid off an engineer to sneak it on there," my source explained. "They were really cheesed off that WB was screwing with their masterpiece, and they wanted to show everyone that they weren't going to take it lying down, I guess."
Hidden features on DVDs are not uncommon. Many newer DVDs, such as Fight Club and X-Men, contain special "Easter Eggs" that are only accessible if you know the secret to unlocking them.
"Only Dini, Timm, and this elusive engineer know how to get to the uncut version on the disc," my source continued. "And, since they've all parted ways with WB, they ain't tellin' us anything."
This has created a stalemate, of sorts. WB is afraid that if they release the unedited version, Timm will let out the secret to unlocking the existing disc. "Then WB will be out a ton of money, because no one will buy the movie once they realize they already have it. It's the perfect way to screw the WB, but unfortunately right now it's just screwing the fans," my source said.
"All that needs to happen right now is for some clever fanboy with a DVD player to start clicking around, and unlock the secret for themselves."
And when they do, you'll know who to thank. 'Til next time, this is Reliable Source... more as I hear it.
