in the october issue of wizard the comics mag, there was a section of the 100 greatest cartoons ever. clerks was #52, they also included a section of the top 10 toons that should be made, mallrats TAS was one of them. would it work as an animated show? i say yeah! clerks would still even work, they just need more viewers.

I loved Clerks and Mallrats.

That said.....

The clerks cartoon was HORRIBLE. I heard mixed reviews, so I rented the DVD and after two episodes I had to force myself to keep watching it. I was so glad there were only six episodes, I wish there had been none.

So from what I've seen of the animated clerks series, mallrats seems like it won't be much better in animated form. If kevin smith wants to do cartoons so badly why doesn't he just create a new series? He should leave the integrity of his good films in place and just create a new characters and ideas for animation.

I didn't care much for the Clerks animated series either when I first saw it on ABC. It was ok...but it didn't feel like Clerks. But once I got the DVD I discovered that those shows just become bette with repeat viewings. They have a style of humor that is different from the movie, but I think just as sharp and witty and good. Maybe if the series continued, we would have seen a cross over with Mallrats, since the caracters from both actually knew each other. Or at least of each other.

Kevin will be too busy working on Season 2 of Clerks:TAS in 2004 to do another show.

I'm a pretty big Kevin Smith fan, but I think some people hive him way too much credit. This series sucked. It truly sucked. It sucked like few series have sucked before. I thought Chasing Amy was way overrated, and I thought Mallrats was way underrrated.

Personally, I think that's a bad idea. A BAD idea. Don't ask me why. Mallrats just...irked me.

.....Matt Matt Matt......There's gonna be a season 2? When did smith decide this?

I was aware of him takin on Fletch 2, and Jersey Girl. I was also aware of the animated motion picture he's putting out of Clerks......but a season 2? I've been dying to watch the damn series but Blockbuster near me dont rent it, and I dont have enough money to buy it. In your honest opinion, how was it? And btw, nice to see some form of High Score up and running, I loved the first strip.

I saw the announcement about the new episodes of Clerks on the View Askew site some time ago, posted by Kevin himself, so I can confirm the validity of new episodes coming. I had no idea they settled on 2004 as the year for them, tho.

I have the Clerks TAS on DVD, and it's not everybody's cup of tea, I guess. I mean, if what you are expecting is to see the series to be like the Clerks and Jay and Silent Bob comic books you are in for a world of disappointment, but I think the cartoons really hold up well on their own and are greatly underrated by the fans who cry about the series not being the same as the movies. Personally, I think the cartoons get better with repeat viewings. Maybe it's an acquired taste, or maybe I was expecting more of the comic book humor in the series. I am not sure, but I over came my initial disappointments to really come to enjoy this series. I am so glad it's on DVD.

Well I am finally the proud owner of this wonderful DVD, I made about $100 today, never you mind how. Went to the mall, and picked it up. Some guy that works there says he saw Kevin Smith at some thing in Florida and he was told that Jason Mewes is on probation or something, can anyone verify this? At any rate, I'm watching episode 3 now, I love this show, I really hope season 2 hits it off, I would love to see this show get popular.

I personally enjoyed the animated series, it was funny, but vastly different from the film. (of course, that was mainly because the adult content was WAY toned down. But what did you expect?) Mallrats is my fav Kevin Smith movie, and it definetly is underated. There was supposed to be a comic book sequel to Mallrats called "Die Hard in The Mall" a while ago, but I think it was legal issues with Universal that kept it from ever seeing the light of day, so it's doubtful that we'd ever see an animated series based off it. *Sigh* I miss Brodie... :(

I liked the Clerks animated series...

BUT...Kevin Smith stuff just ain't as good without the massive cussing...

They're releasing a second "Clerks Uncensored" DVD of 6 or 8 new episodes? It think? When we see that, I'm sure it's gonna have all the cussin' & drug content we've grown to love from Kevin Smith..and I'm sure people will enjoy it a lot more...

as for a Mallrats series...if it's on AS, YES! But otherwise..I'd like to see Smith do a totally new animated series..with or without Jay & Silent Bob...

I was at Kevin Smith's "thing in Florida" (Mega-Con, George Lowe was there too). He said Mewes is in jail.
