I don't see a topic for this yet. Nintendo has finally launched its previously Japan-only "Club Nintendo" in the USA, with the same prizes. However, it is extremely, inexcusably buggy.
You are supposed to be able to transfer your previous registered games into the Club Nintendo system, but some haven't been able to do that. Others, like me, can't even log in. It keeps asking me for "additional information," tells me I can log in now, and then does the same thing when I try again.
I guess it's a good business plan, because they don't even have to make those prizes. Nobody can get to them!

General advice to everyone:
Wait a few days before trying...
It's really slow going and often you get an error before finishing a survey for points.
The Game & Watch Collection for DS (800 Coins) is really tempting. I have all the G&W Galleries, so the games aren't exactly new for me, but it'll be a cool collectible...
It keeps asking me for "additional information," tells me I can log in now, and then does the same thing when I try again.I had the same problem. I eventually tried Internet Explorer and it went through right away... Then I immediately retreated back to Firefox...

This coin thing sounds free on paper, but I know my credit card will come into play at some point.
Oh well. I have buckets of unregistered DS games.
So far no problems logging in for me.
EDIT: Ah, and there lies the rub. PIN number thing must be a new thing for games, huh? I can't find any codes in the paperwork that came with any of my stuff, which was bought well over a year ago.
EDIT AGAIN: Oh wait, I found one for Elite Beat Agents. FFIII DS and Phoenix Wright games don't have them though.

Some key info from the FAQ that might be helpful:
How many Coins will I receive for registering my game and taking the survey?
Wii games = 50 Coins
Nintendo DS games = 30 Coins
Wii Shop Channel games and Wii Channels = 10 Coins Can I register and take surveys on all products?
No, not all games can be registered and not all games you can register will qualify for a survey. We've added more information below to help you determine if you can register your game and whether it will qualify for a survey or not.
Nintendo-Published Titles
Only games published by Nintendo come packaged with the PIN used to register the game. Games not published by Nintendo (licensee titles) will not include a PIN card and cannot be registered.
Wii Shop Channel games and Wii Channels
Downloaded Wii Shop Channel games and Wii Channels will automatically be registered in your Club Nintendo account if you have linked your Club Nintendo account with your Wii Shop Channel. Wii Shop Channel games and Wii Channels are eligible for Post Play Surveys only. These surveys will appear in your To-Do List within 4-6 weeks of your download.
Systems
Wii and Nintendo DS Lite owners can register the serial number for your newly purchased system, complete a survey, and receive a free 90-day warranty extension! System registrations do not qualify for Coins. This 90-day warranty extension is exclusive to newly-purchased Wii and Nintendo DS Lite systems only and not available for any other systems.
Games Released December 2008 and After
All Wii and Nintendo DS games published by Nintendo in December 2008 and after can be registered and will qualify for surveys.
Games released prior to December 2008
Many games released prior to December 2008 can be registered; however, of those games, only select Wii, Wii Shop Channel games, Wii Channels, and Nintendo DS games will qualify for surveys. See the list of games that can be registered and qualify for surveys below: Wii Games

Yoshi's Island DSA couple qualifying games I registered under my My Nintendo account didn't transfer over, but most did. I'll try the PINs for those ones again to see if they still work. If not, Nintendo will hear from me...
Note that you get something special in the mail (for free, no loss of coins) if you hit 300 coins (Gold status) by June 30th. Maybe something extra special if you hit 600 coins (Platinum status).

That seemed to work. I'm at 210 coins now.

Only first-party (i.e. Nintendo) titles have register codes in them.

There's a chance I could have 300 by then, but there's no way I'll have 600.
The coins seem to be proportional to their actual MSRP. In other words, Game and Watch Collection -- a title that would probably cost $20 if it were sold openly -- is actually $800. Wow.....

The coins seem to be proportional to their actual MSRP. In other words, Game and Watch Collection -- a title that would probably cost $20 if it were sold openly -- is actually $800. Wow.....To be fair, it's more like "buy $800 worth of games, get one game free." Not really a deal, but since I'll spend the money either way I might as well cash in on it.
The hard part is going to be figuring out what to buy. I've already decided the cheap crap is out of the question. Unless my coins are about to expire (and June 2011 is the first time anyone's coins will expire), I'm not buying styli or holding cases. I have enough trinkets sitting around already, so unless I see something really cool, that stuff is out too.
That leaves the DS games. We only have one so far, but we can know what might come next thank's to Japan's Club Nintendo. Here's the release order from Japan:
1. Game & Watch Collection: Includes Donkey Kong, Green House and Oil Panic.
2. Tingle's Balloon Fight DS: It's Balloon Fight, but with Legend of Zelda backgrounds and characters.
3. Zekkyō Senshi Sakeburein (Exclamation Warriors Sakeburein): Think a Power Rangers game, but with your characters controlled entirely by yelling in the DS's microphone.
4. Game & Watch Collection 2: Includes Parachute and Octopus. Also includes some kind of mode that combines the two games into a single one.
Other than the one that involves yelling a lot, they all sound pretty good...
They've also had other gaming supplies, like an SNES controller for Wii.

Pretty sweet deal. Going to sign up now...
So what about games we've registered in the past? I have a whole bunch of VC games that were linked to my old My Nintendo account. Will I get coins for those?

Well, I registered all the 1st party Wii & DS titles(save for Brain Age for some reason) and I'm already at Gold status. If all goes according to my gaming plan, I might go Platinum by March. I've been eyeing that Game & Watch Collection for quite some time and I hope they put something like this (http://www.dsfanboy.com/photos/club-nintendo-awesomeness/1075101/) as a reward in the future.
If the older ones transfer over, I should have 400 points. Now, how to get an easy 200?

That would so rule, but this is being a pain for me at the moment so I am going to wait a few day to continue registering the game already register to my account. Too bad GCN games don't carry over.

So what about games we've registered in the past? I have a whole bunch of VC games that were linked to my old My Nintendo account. Will I get coins for those? As long as they are qualifying games (see the list I posted (http://forums.toonzone.net/showpost.php?p=3089173&postcount=4) in the spoiler box) and as long as you import your old My Nintendo account (try to login with your old username/password and follow the instructions). If done right, your old list of registered games will be transfered and you'll be able to get the coins after completing a brief survey for each game.
Oh, that's lame. None of my VC or WiiWare games are worth any coins. You'd think stuff like F-Zero X, Super Mario RPG, and Dr. Mario would get you something too. D:

First of all, Club Nintendo was not Japan-only before it came over to the U.S. Europe has it for a while and it was promised to Australia a while ago.
I've been a member of My Nintendo for years, and so I have plenty of registered games - most of them are probably GameCube and GBA titles, so I hope Nintendo comes to their senses gives out Coins for those games too.
But - I have no Coins. I registered using the email for my My Nintendo account, but it doesn't want to go through. I have no Coins! I emailed Nintendo two times and I'm expecting a reply. I also called them and the man on the phone admitted that there are a few glitches and everything should be transferred over in the next few days.

It turns out I was using the wrong email address when I signed up, but I can't get into the one with the RIGHT email. Is the username the same as my My Nintendo username? I tried entering my username and the password I set up during registration, and it keeps telling me to sign up again because I'm a member of My Nintendo.
Then there's something about a confirmation email, but I haven't gotten one.

My email came a few minutes after since I had to reset my password since I haven't used it in over a year, I say that because I didn't register a bunch of games for the Wii.
I just kept my email box open so I could do it quickly and add more games.

Stupid me. I threw away all my old registration slips thinking I didn't need them again (I already registered like... 20 games long before Club Nintendo started).
"U.S. and Canada only"
Geez, Nintendo, why? It's already bad enough that I have to cheat your system to buy stuff from the Shop Channel.

I have like 900 coins worth in games but being mr stupid I threw out the IP numbers. So in the end I could only get 290 coins but I'll try my VC games I guess.
I got 500 good thing I never threw away those stupid slips.

Funny thing, I get the "I lost my password!" emails. But the all-important confirmation email never comes, even after 5 or so attempts at transferring my account (it says my account transferred, but when I try to login using the same username and password, it doesn't work). I'm just going to wait this one out. I'm pretty sure I have a majority of my registration slips. I'll gladly re-type them and send 'em off to a Nintendo representative if that's what I need to do to get my Coins.

You have to link your account from the Wii Shop Channel, and then wait 4 to 6 weeks to register them as the survey for that is different.

I finally got into Club Nintendo and I have 550 points. I can get some Animal Crossing cards, but I really want that Game & Watch Collection. Not only is it actually worth something, but it's a piece of Nintendo history.
There are big mistakes with the program: you don't get points for registering consoles and you only get Coins for taking surveys. You don't get Coins for just registering a game. That's stupid.

Well they do plan to use that "Plan to Buy" feature to get you to buy a game that is on their list that isn't even updated yet.

I just signed up for this thing. I did the My Nintendo thing a LONG time ago. Back when they said they'd get me free stuff for my awesome GC collection. Well, after that didn't go anywhere, I stopped registering.
And its a good thing I was really lazy and didn't try until now it seems. Took Nintendo a while to work out all the kinks.
Anyway, registered all my DS and Wii first party games, and am sitting on 640 coins...so close to you game and watch...so close...you will be mine.
Well, guess I got a new reason to go and buy WarioLand Shake It, and other crap now...
Nintendo needs to hurry up and release my good games so I can register them already.

Sorry for the bump, but this year's prizes for reaching Gold and Platinum status have been announced.
If you were able to reach Gold Status, your only prize will be a Calender for next year featuring art from various Nintendo games.
But if you were able to reach Platinum status, you can get either a WiiWare exclusive game called "Doc Louis' Punch-Out!" or a real life replica of Mario's infamous hat.
You have until August 11th to claim your prizes, and these prizes will be shipped around November.
Since I reached Platinum status, I can't help but think which one I should choose.
Also here a pic of all the prizes for this year (https://club.nintendo.com/img/member/elite-rewards-desc-en.jpg)
I had to go for the Mario hat. That's just too awesome to pass up. The WiiWare game was pretty tempting, though.

I mean, I absolutely LOVE Punch-Out!!, and fighting Doc Louis would be like a dream come true. But a Mario hat? I mean, that's the kind of thing you just can't pass up. At the same time, though, when would I ever wear a Mario hat?
WHY MUST I CHOOSE!?

I have gold status, so meh. What this really needs are some decent rewards. I only have 330 coins for now, but if I had a 1000 there's nothing that I'd actually want. How about offering more games besides one little retro collection? Or some spiffy accessories? It's been the same stuff since it got started.

That's my conflict with the Mario hat and the WiiWare game. My gut feeling is that the WiiWare game is going to be exclusive in the same vein as Game & Watch collection, and all those other games that Dogbert listed a while back, while the Mario hat, I don't see myself wearing it, but that's not the problem as that hat is meant to be a collectors item. My main problem would be where would I store that hat?
Personally I'm leaning towards the Punch-Out Game.
The game is tempting but, come on, the Mario is hat is a Mario hat. If I got the game, it would be fun and all but after you beat Doc there's not much else to do, is there? The hat looks like a real collector's item. It's not something I'm going to go around wearing but it would be awesome to have on display with my whole gaming setup.

I only have gold status...
Personally, I'd be willing to get the deluxe Super Mario Galaxy soundtrack if they offered it here. In the meantime, I can only hope for the Game and Watch collection (OTOH, they're bringing G&W games to DSiWare, so now I'm not so sure). The hanafuda cards would be interesting seeing as how that was Nintendo's original product, but the G&W collection is unfortunately much more attractive...(sigh)

A tough choice, but I'm getting the hat. The problem now is that the site's so clogged up that it won't let me place an order. I am worried they won't honor the (I'm sure) immense demand for the hat, but if they stick me with the game, it'd make a fine consolation.

Yeah, I was filling out some surveys that I had left over so I can at least get the Gold Member status for this year, and now it's telling me that the site is closed due to maintenance. Oh well, I might end up getting the Punch-Out! game anyway, due to me not having room for the hat anywhere in my house and the chances of me losing it down the line like I did with my Eon Ticket from Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire days.
